SINGAPORE: South Korean singer Daesung, a member of K-pop boy band BigBang, will be holding his first solo concert in the Lion City at the 6,700-seat Arena @ Expo on Aug 2.
The show is part of the 36-year-old's D's Wave 2025 Asia tour, which kicked off in Seoul on April 26. It has made stops in cities such as Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City and will travel to Taipei, Hong Kong and Kobe before arriving in Singapore.
The Singapore show was announced on Daesung's Instagram and Facebook accounts on June 15. Ticketing details have not been announced.
Daesung last performed here at the Yuewen Music Festival at Sentosa's Siloso Beach in December 2024, just before another performance by fellow BigBang member Taeyang.
Dressed in a cream cardigan, Daesung performed a 25-minute set with five songs.
He opened with Wings, from BigBang's EP Alive (2012), and followed up with Baby Don't Cry (2011) and Falling Slowly (2024). Next, he gave a preview of a then-unreleased number, Umbrella – which was subsequently released on April 8 – before closing with the crowd-pleaser Look At Me, Gwisun (2008).
During that performance, he said: 'I know why the word 'sing' is part of Singapore. It is because you guys can sing so amazingly.'
BigBang, which debuted as a quintet in 2006, made a comeback in 2022 as a trio comprising Daesung, Taeyang and leader G-Dragon.
G-Dragon – who is on his Ubermensch world tour – is slated to be a headlining music act at the Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2025 on Oct 3.
Taeyang concluded his The Light Year World Tour in February. He is scheduled to hold a series of fan meets from July, which will take place in cities such as Seoul, Hiroshima and Tokyo. - The Straits Times/ANN
