GM Once Again Shows Off Radical Corvette Concepts
Since its inception, the Corvette has been a blue collar sports car, America's sports car, that was not only fast and cool but also accessible. You didn't have to be some rich guy with a mansion to own one, unlike Ferraris and such.
While the C8 Corvette pushed the sports car upmarket some, while also giving it an exotic flavor by putting the engine midship, it has remained fairly accessible, although sadly not as much as in the past.
But it seems GM really wants to make the Corvette its vanity project to take on Ferrari, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, McLaren, and others. We guess it's to show Americans can make ridiculous hypercars with inflated prices, too.
This sort of attitude has birthed other ridiculous things like modern muscle cars which cost more than $100,000 (those were supposed to be even more attainable than the Corvette).
GM says it's doing the work to 'propel (the Corvette) into the future.' And we guess in the future one will have to be a rich and powerful executive to enjoy one.
We get these concepts are design exercises, but we also know concepts affect future production cars. Our hope is this fascination with making the Corvette so over-the-top doesn't result in a future model that has a base MSRP of $750,000 or more, pricing out the enthusiasts who have been loyal to the sports car for decades.

McLaren Relying on Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri to Help It Sell Cars
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. With a four-car portfolio, a winning Formula 1 program and fresh ownership, McLaren Automotive is looking to lean into its successes to sell more cars. "We are clearly positioned as a performance luxury car brand, and we are probably most authentic as a branch with a racing heritage," McLaren Automotive's Chief Commercial Officer Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer told Newsweek from the grounds of the company's Carmel, California brand house during Monterey Car Week. "There are not many brands out there that come from the racetrack. We see many more brands coming from other angles and moving into racing," he continued. Though the car company is young (founded in 1985 as McLaren Cars, 2010 as McLaren Automotive), McLaren's racing heritage is strong. "I think the way how we look at things is probably slightly different than the more establish[ed] brands. It always goes back to where we are coming from, and this is racing. You clearly see a performance DNA in the brand and the product. And with our founding father, Bruce McLaren, I think that ethos that he brought into this company [is what] makes that brand so unique and loved by our clients today," Wilhelmsmeyer said. #4 Lando Norris (GBR, McLaren F1 Team), #81 Oscar Piastri (AUS, McLaren F1 Team), F1 Grand Prix of Hungary at Hungaroring on August 3, 2025 in Budapest, Hungary. #4 Lando Norris (GBR, McLaren F1 Team), #81 Oscar Piastri (AUS, McLaren F1 Team), F1 Grand Prix of Hungary at Hungaroring on August 3, 2025 in Budapest, Hungary. HOCH ZWEI/picture-alliance/dpa/AP Images Bruce McLaren started his race team in 1963. The racing operations unit has competed in Formula 1, IndyCar, Formula E, Extreme E and F1 Sim Racing, winning heralded races including the Indianapolis 500, 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix. And this year the Papaya Orange team is winning nearly every Formula 1 race. Its driver Oscar Piastri sits atop the driver standings with 12 podiums and six wins (284 points), while its other driver, Lando Norris, is only slightly behind with 12 podiums and five wins (275 points). The next-closest competitor, four-time Formula 1 World Championship winner Max Verstappen, is in a distant third with just two wins and five podiums (187 points). Piastri and Norris aren't just winning races, they've won legions of fans. Norris has nearly 10 million Instagram followers and 26.4 million likes on TikTok. Piastri has about half that. McLaren Automotive has 11 million Instagram followers and 7.6 million likes on TikTok, numbers dwarfed by its racing division's 16 million followers and 214 million likes. "I think our Formula 1 team does currently a fantastic job for the brand. If you look back a few years, back before the Papaya era, how things have changed. You look at the Formula One races, and you see an ocean of Papaya, the fans supporting it, and it has helped to uplift the awareness for McLaren's brand, and the awareness that they are not only race cars, but there's an automotive business associated to it, and we see that that works incredibly well," Wilhelmsmeyer said. "We are very accessible as a brand, and we want to be approachable. And I think it's a bit of the attitude and mindset that we have. We don't want to be seen as an arrogant luxury brand. We are a luxury brand, but I would hope our behavior and attitude, also towards fans and customers, is a different one, a very approachable one, and very engaging," he continued. Wilhelmsmeyer sees that approachability as being key to McLaren Automotive's future success. He said: "Not the fact that we are a winning team, but the behavior that is demonstrated in the team. Look at Zak's [Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing] team. Look at the two drivers. They have a fair competition. There's no order saying this is the one, number one driver, and this is the number two driver. And I think it's this, this attitude and spirit that customers love, the fans love. And, it's a team spirit. [McLaren is] not an ego-driven brand or company dominated by one individual or a superhero. It's always this team spirit... There's this positivity that comes with the brand, and there is less of an arrogance towards things."

RUF Reveals 550 HP "Tribute," a Modernized Air-Cooled Homage to the 911
Summary RUFhas revealed the Tribute duringMonterey Car Week, a modern supercar built around a brand-new air-cooled engine—an homage to the 911 and to the brand's six-decade history with the iconicPorscheplatform. At its core is a 3.6L twin-turbo flat-six developed entirely in-house by RUF. The engine incorporates four-cam technology, variable cam timing, variable valve lift and three-valve cylinder heads, blending modern performance with the unmistakable character of classic air-cooled motors. Output is rated at 550 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, delivered through a seven-speed manual gearbox. The engine sits within a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, continuing RUF's tradition of innovation through advanced engineering. With a redline of 6,750 rpm and a sound that connects directly to Porsche's heritage, the Tribute aims to offer a raw yet refined driving experience focused on tactility, agility and emotional engagement. 'The rush of the air-cooled engine behind you adds something special to the modern RUF pantheon,' the company noted. 'It takes the best of the motoring past and injects the technology of the present to create a supercar unlike any other.' During Monterey Car Week festivities, the Tribute was showcased alongside the 800 hp CTR3 EVO, as well as the very first client-commissioned example of theRUF Rodeo, with all three vehicles proving that analog is not dead.

2027 Chevy Bolt Spied Looking Refreshed More Than Fully Redesigned
General Motors' decision to kill the Chevrolet Bolt was a strange one, because it immediately turned around and teased a successor. We're getting close to the debut of that new model—though, as it turns out, it won't be entirely new. The spy shots we've got here strongly indicate a refresh for GM's cheapest EV rather than a full redesign, despite the fact that the Bolt has been out of production entirely since 2023. GM was recently caught testing an upcoming Bolt in white alongside a predecessor Bolt EUV in gray. It appears the company will only sell the larger EUV version this time around, which probably makes more sense for the American market. Side-by-side shots of both generations bear out that the company's designers have indeed scrapped the older model's split brake-light situation, where the elements near the tailgate only light up when the vehicle's lights are on, and the actual brake lights are further down, where you'd expect reflectors to be. Probably a smart move. A slightly resculpted front fascia differentiates the two Bolts as well, though I'd hesitate to say one definitively looks more modern than the other. I'll probably have a hard time remembering which face belongs to which generation head on in traffic. If you look closely between the headlights, you'll see some texturing similar to what the Equinox EV wears on its bumper. The profile shot makes it abundantly clear that, save a few exterior nips and tucks, this is the old Bolt with some new underpinnings. GM has reportedly incorporated LFP batteries in this new rendition, with updated motors and a NACS port, allowing for Tesla Supercharger access. The automaker is apparently shooting for a 300-mile range with this compact EV, too. That stands to represent a handy improvement upon the prior gen, which topped out at about 250 miles on a full tank of electrons. One thing the next Bolt definitively won't have is a federal EV tax credit, which especially stings because GM may find it challenging to match the old EUV's $30K base price, four model years later. Oh, and it also probably won't have CarPlay, barring a miraculous corporate change of heart. Got a tip? Reach out to us at tips@
