After BJP state President Sukanta Majumdar slammed the behaviour of Mondal in his X Handle, Trinamool Congress leadership took immediate action and instructed Mondal to offer an unconditional apology within four hours, saying that Anubrata Mondal's comments were 'unacceptable".
Taking to X Handle, AITC posted: 'The party unequivocally disassociates and does not endorse the comments made by Anubrata Mondal against a police officer. We strongly condemn his use of derogatory & unacceptable abusive language. The party hereby instructs him to tender an unconditional apology within the next four hours, failing which show cause proceedings will be initiated.'
Live Events
Following this, Mondal apologized after the party's direction. Mondal said that he had a good relationship with police. 'I take heavy doses of medicines at night. It may be under the influence of those medicines, I have spoken like that,' Mondal said.
'All senior officers love Didi. I cannot think about insulting police…I take a lot of medicines. When I received the call, I was sleeping and I was disturbed about the injury of a when a party worker. I seek apologies,' Mondal said.
'We have lodged an FIR against Anubrata Mondal and legal action will be taken against him. IC Liton Das has complained a few days back about the matter,' Birbhum Super Amandeep said.
Following this, a notice has been served to Mondal, asking him to appear physically before police, after lodging an FIR against him. Several security personnel, including four security and five home guards, have been removed from his residence.
'Mondal gets Y Plus category but security has been reduced from his house,' the Birbhum Superintendent confirmed.
In the past, Mondal is learnt to have abused police officials on various occasions.
Mondal and his daughter were arrested by ED in connection with multi-crore cattle scam and he was in Tihar jail.
Mondal, whose proximity with 'Didi' is well known in political circles, seems to be falling apart recently when the election responsibilities have been given to a Committee and he was removed from the post of Birbhum District President. During Mondal's jail days, Banerjee did not remove him. Banerjee used to call Mondal as 'Keshto', by his pet name.

A snip of freedom: Banaskantha village ends Dalit haircut ban
1 2 Aalwada (Banaskantha): In a moment as symbolic as it was long overdue, a barber's scissors in Aalwada village cut through decades of caste prejudice. On Aug 7, 24-year-old farm labourer Kirti Chauhan became the first Dalit ever to walk into a barber's shop in the village and get a haircut. It felt like an early Independence day for the community as all five barber shops opened their doors to Scheduled Castes for the first time. For generations, the 250-odd Dalits in this 6,500-strong village were denied service by local barbers and forced to travel to other villages, often concealing their identity for something as basic as grooming. That changed last week after months of dialogue, when elders from all communities agreed to end the unwritten ban. "I am the first Dalit to get a haircut here. Ever since I can remember, we had to go to other towns for basic grooming. In 24 years of my life, I finally felt free and accepted in my own village," said an emotional Kirti Chauhan. Their campaign involved sensitising upper-caste residents and barbers about the unconstitutional nature of the practice. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Vitauthority Learn More Undo Where persuasion failed, the police and district administration stepped in. Village sarpanch Suresh Chaudhary admitted, "As sarpanch, I felt guilty about the earlier practice. I am proud it ended during my tenure." The district administration, led by mamlatdar Janak Mehta, played a crucial role in resolving the issue. "We addressed complaints of discrimination and worked with village leaders to ensure a harmonious resolution," Mehta said. "Small cut, big change," is how Dalits describe this first step towards social equality. Chhogaji Chauhan, 58, recalls, "We have walked miles for a haircut. My father faced this before independence, and my children endured it nearly eight decades after." Now, barbers are welcoming all customers. Pintoo Nai, 21, who gave Kirti his historic haircut, said, "We simply followed society's diktat earlier. Once the elders agreed to change, it was no longer prohibited. It's also good for business." Activist Chetan Dabhi explained, "Many resisted change despite months of sensitisation. Only after constant intervention by police and the district administration did the upper castes agree." Even members of dominant communities backed the move. Prakash Patel, a Patidar, said, "If customers are welcome at my grocery store, why not at a barber's shop? We're glad the wrong practice is gone." While celebrating the change, Ishwar Chauhan, a Dalit farmer, noted that prejudice lingers. "We still face separate seating at community feasts. I hope that will change too Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). 3-day International Forensic Science Summit to open today
1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the three-day International Forensic Science Summit at the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS) on Monday. The conference, to mark the third foundation day of UPSIFS, will bring together over 100 experts from India and abroad to deliberate on issues such as cybercrime, international legal frameworks, forensic applications, and strategic countermeasures, said founder director GK Goswamy. "The CM will also inaugurate the newly established Drone and DNA labs at UPSIFS, flag off forensic vans for 75 districts on the occasion,"said Goswamy. The event aims to promote international cooperation and highlight Uttar Pradesh's growing leadership in forensic science and cybercrime investigation, said an official. Officials said that the expansion of forensic infrastructure not only strengthened the fight against crime but also boosted public trust in the justice system. By integrating advanced technologies, enhancing lab capacity, and training youth in forensic sciences, the Yogi govt is paving the way for a safer, more secure, and technologically advanced Uttar Pradesh. | In the last 8 years, the state govt has significantly expanded forensic science facilities across Uttar Pradesh, linking policing with technology under its zero-tolerance policy against crime. The move not only accelerated criminal investigations and convictions but also created new opportunities for youth aspiring to build careers in forensic science, said the official. Over the past eight years, the state govt focused on strengthening crime prevention, enhancing criminal identification systems, and ensuring strict punishments through scientific evidence in courts. A major step in this direction was the establishment of the UPSIFS, which has become a premier centre for education, training, and research in forensic science. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Vitauthority Learn More Undo Trainee scientists, police officers, and students are being trained in cutting-edge techniques, while the institute is also conducting advanced research to position Uttar Pradesh as a national and international hub for forensic excellence. Before 2017, the state had only four forensic laboratories located in Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, and Ghaziabad. Since then, the govt added eight new labs in Jhansi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Bareilly, Gonda, Aligarh, and Moradabad, taking the total to 12 active laboratories. This expansion reduced delays in evidence analysis and ensured timely availability of reports to police and courts, the official said. Further, the work is underway to establish six new labs in Ayodhya, Basti, Banda, Azamgarh, Mirzapur, and Saharanpur. Once operational, these centres are expected to make evidence collection and criminal investigations even more effective. The state has also modernised its fingerprint identification systems under the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS). Hardware and software installations were completed at 98 locations, linking nine STF units, one ATS unit, and 12 GRP units. Nearly 4.14 lakh fingerprints have already been digitised, helping police identify criminals and match unidentified bodies swiftly. This achievement secured Uttar Pradesh the first rank in NCRB's national dashboard for fingerprint digitisation. With the introduction of new criminal laws – BNS, BNSS, and BSA (2023) – the state focused on recruiting trained forensic scientists across its units. These specialists are playing a vital role in evidence collection, laboratory analysis, and investigation, thereby strengthening the justice delivery system. Forensic inputs have been particularly critical in cybercrime cases, where scientific evidence led to stronger convictions.
