Rajasthan Education Minister says over 12 lakh new students enrolled in government schools
Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar on Monday announced that more than 12 lakh new students have enrolled in government schools across the state this academic year, attributing the rise to improved standards of education in the public sector.

Speaking to ANI, Dilawar said, 'This time, more than 12 lakh enrollments have taken place, i.e. new students have taken admission in government schools. The reason for this is that the inclination towards government schools has increased.'
He added, 'The standard of education in government schools has improved in the last 1.5 years. The national survey that has been conducted has given us better results than the average.'
According to Dilawar, a recently conducted national-level education survey revealed that Rajasthan now ranks 3rd among all states, up from its earlier position of 13th or 14th.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Saturday lauded Prime Minister
for releasing the 20th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, under which over Rs 20,500 crore was transferred to more than 9.7 crore farmers across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Sharma highlighted the significance of the scheme, stating, 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 20th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, transferring Rs 20,500 crore to over 9.7 crore farmers... PM Modi has rightly said that the nation will not develop until the farmers of the country develop... The money is transferred into the bank accounts of farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode,' he said.

Road ministry aims to award Rs 10 lakh crore of projects every year: Nitin Gadkari
The government aims to award road projects worth Rs 10 lakh crore every year going forward with a target of Rs 7 lakh crore of projects awarded by the end of 2025-26, road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari said. 'The sector witnessed some slowdown in the last one year due to the cancellation of the Bharatmala project,' Gadkari said while speaking at the annual session of the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers' Association (ICEMA) on Thursday. 'But in the current year we have already awarded projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore and the plan is to award another Rs 5 lakh crore worth of road projects by the end of this year, taking the total to Rs 7 lakh crore,' he said. Going forward, the target is to award projects worth Rs 10 lakh crore every year, he said, adding that the process is transparent, time bound and corruption free and there is no shortage of funds. Gadkari reiterated his desire to achieve the daily construction rate of 100 km per day as against the highest of 37 km per day in 2020-21. Addressing the construction equipment industry, Gadkari said his ministry is deliberating over incentives to the industry if they opt for alternate fuels and flex engines as it will be a win-win for all stakeholders. 'We are considering an interest- free loan to construction equipment makers who develop equipments running on alternate fuels,' he said.' Besides, a relief on one time tax on constitution equipment registration running on alternate fuels is also under consideration,' he said, prodding the industry to switch to alternate and sustainable fuel options. 'This will substitute for huge fuel imports amounting to Rs 22 lakh crore per annum, will be cost effective, pollution free and indigenously developed,' he said, adding it will be a win-win situation for industry, government and the country.

India has defended its energy trade with Russia, maintaining that its oil imports are 'driven by national interest and market dynamics.' In a video released by Russian state media outlet Sputnik News, Doval described India's relationship with Russia as 'very special,' underlining the depth of long-standing strategic ties between the two countries. 'We have got a very special relationship, long relationship and we highly value our strategic partnership. We have had high-level engagements and these have contributed very substantially,' Doval said. He also welcomed the announcement of an upcoming state visit by President Putin to India, saying summit meetings have historically marked key moments in bilateral ties. 'We are very excited and delighted to learn about the visit of His Excellency, the President of Russia, President Putin, to India. I think that the dates are almost finalized now. The more important thing is that the summit meetings have always been a watershed point,' Doval added. According to sources cited by news agency ANI, while Doval confirmed that plans for the Russian president's visit are underway, no specific dates were finalised during his engagements in Moscow. India and Russia continue to expand their defence cooperation. In 2018, India signed a $5.43 billion deal for five squadrons of the S-400 Triumf air defence missile system from Russia. So far, three squadrons have been delivered.

Bengaluru: The opening of the new Yellow Line section of the Bengaluru metro has sparked a row between Karnataka's Congress government and the BJP and senior BJP leader Tejasvi Surya invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has called him a "boy in a hurry", accusing him of announcing the details and sending the invitation without consulting the state government. Tejasvi Surya has hit back, calling the Deputy Chief Minister "ageist' and "insensitive" and said theirs is a "politics of delay". "I am part of a young generation in India that wants reforms today -- not in some distant future," Mr Surya told NDTV in an exclusive interview. "He (Shivakumar) may have no urgency because he comes from a party that represents the politics of delay," he said. The metro, he added, is a requirement for thousands who have to spend two hours in public transport just to reach their office. "This is the situation and the Deputy Chief Minister says what is the urgency... A two-km flyover in my constituency took 8.5 years to complete. I am not okay with that," he added. The Congress, he has alleged, delayed the inauguration six times. "Recently, the seven MLAs of the Yellow Line area, two MPs, our district president, and hundreds of public members... all worked hard, protested, and demanded the inauguration be done by August 15," he said. Earlier, giving reporters a ride in the new metro line, Mr Shivakumar had said Rs 7,610 crore has been spent on the line that covers 19.5 km. "The clearances to operate this have come only on July 31. Our poor young MP who is inexperienced has been in a hurry but we can't do that. The technical clearances came only on July 31. Today is August 5 and the Prime Minister has been given time to inaugurate this on August 10," he told reporters. Mr Surya accused the Congress of trying to take credit for a project for which they had little contribution. "As soon as it was announced that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Metro line on Aug 10, yesterday they (the Congress) started publicity tours. The work on this Metro line began in 2018 and was supposed to be completed by 2021. Some problems occurred due to Covid-19, and some due to land acquisition. Even then, neither Congress nor anyone else came forward to help," he told reporters earlier. "During the Covid-19 period, BS Yediyurappa-led BJP government was in power. Even during Covid-19, civil works happened under our (BJP) government. There were problems in calling workers, so we met former CM Yediyurappa and he released additional funds. Much work was done. Later, during former CM and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai's tenure, we (the BJP) completed 95 per cent of the civil works. Their (Congress) government didn't even appoint a full-time Managing Director for BMRCL," Mr Surya alleged.
