Prince William & Kate Middleton Give Telling Relationship Update Months After He Secretly Hired Divorce Lawyers
If the latest public appearance featuring William and Kate Middleton is to be believed, however, their marriage is just fine. The two stepped out together during the formal welcome to French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife First Lady Brigitte Macron, and indulged in what for royal circles might qualify as a bit of PDA. And thought it's nothing like what celebrities would consider PDA; it's still very telling for a couple that's been fending off divorce rumors.

Cameras caught William holding out a hand to help Kate walk down the stairs as they walked across the Royal Dais at Datchet Road at Windsor Castle, with the couple not letting go after, but continuing to hold hands. Other photos also caught Kate placing a supportive hand on the small of her husband's back. And there were plenty of smiles between the two, and a very relaxed vibe. Always a really good sign.
Their closeness has been remarked upon before. 'They are happy for people to see them be touchy-feely,' Majesty magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward told People in March. 'They're in a different phase of their life now. William is very protective and very proud of her for coming through this and carrying on with her life.'
All of this comes months after news broke that William had hired the lawyers who represented his mother, Princess Diana, in her divorce from Charles. But according to sources, that had nothing to do with his marriage to Kate.
'William wanted to strike out on his own. He did not want to continue using his father's lawyers. It's as simple as that. He wants to be his own man,' a source told The Daily Mail. The insider, described as a 'friend' of William's, continued, 'William wants to do things differently from his father and wants to be seen to do them differently.'
The couple has had to navigate a new normal since Kate's diagnosis, with former BBC correspondent and royal source Jennie Bond telling the Mirror in April 2025, 'I think they have both taken a similar attitude to dealing with the brutal year they have just endured. Their marriage is, I think, even stronger than before, and it was already a roaring success. I think they like each other. A lot. And that's a whole different thing to loving one another, which, incidentally, they also do. A lot.'
Bond also added, 'They operate as a partnership and they have such a deep understanding of one another that they can communicate when they are out and about with just a look or a gesture. They seem sometimes to have private jokes that make them smile or nudge one another.'
That was pretty clearly on display in their last public appearance together, which proves all is well in their marriage.

How to watch 'The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox'? Hulu's new limited series
Viewers are will get to see Amanda Knox's story dramatized in a new limited series on Hulu, which follows her 16-year journey to reclaim her innocence after being convicted and ultimately exonerated of murder. "The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox," out on Friday, Aug. 20, is inspired by the true story of Amanda Knox, an American college student studying in Italy who was wrongfully convicted and later imprisoned for the murder of her roommate. Considered the prime suspects in the 2007 killing of British student Meredith Kercher, Knox and her then boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, spent four years in prison before they were exonerated for the second time in March 2015. The two were initially exonerated on Oct. 3, 2011, when an appeals court overturned their original convictions. Nearly a decade after the second acquittal, which was decided by Italy's highest court, the Supreme Court of Cassation, Knox returned to Italy for another trial on slander charges related to the initial interrogation. Specifically, that trial addressed a signed confession from Knox falsely accusing her former boss of the murder. An Italian court found Knox guilty, again, in June 2024 and upheld the conviction on appeal months later. According to Hulu, the series "traces Amanda's relentless fight to prove her innocence and reclaim her freedom and examines why authorities and the world stood so firmly in judgment." Here's what to know about "The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox," including where to stream it. Who is playing Amanda Knox? Inside Prince Harry's Secret Tribute for Prince Philip Amid WWII Anniversary
Inside Prince Harry's Secret Tribute for Prince Philip Amid WWII Anniversary originally appeared on Parade. Prince Harry may have distanced himself from the royal family, though he made sure to pay tribute to his late grandfather Prince Philip on the 80th anniversary of V-J Day. The monumental moment marked the end of World War II in 1945. Harry, 40, had a wreath and letter placed at the Burma Star Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, in Staffordshire, England, on August 15 to honor Philip and other veterans. The Duke of Sussex reportedly asked a friend to place his tribute after his father, King Charles III, his stepmother, Queen Camilla, and members of the media left the event, according to People. Charles, 76, led a service of remembrance for those who served in the Asia-Pacific region during the war earlier that day. The letter, which was written on Harry's personal letterhead, praised members of the 'Forgotten Army' whose 'courage and endurance in the Far East campaign were anything but forgettable.' He also made sure to include a personal message for Philip, who died at the age of 99 in 2021. 'For me, this anniversary carries an added layer of meaning. My late grandfather, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, served in the Pacific campaign,' Harry wrote. 'He spoke with quiet humility about those years, but I know how deeply he respected all who stood beside him in that theater of war. Today, as I think of him, I think also of each of you, of the shared hardships, the bonds forged and the legacy you leave.' Additionally, he was on board a ship in Tokyo Bay when Japan officially surrendered in September 1945. While Harry clearly has love for Philip and other WWII veterans, he likely didn't appear at the celebration due to his estrangement from his family. After he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, the couple continued to keep their distance from his family as they relocated to California. Toby Keith's son welcomes first baby more than a year after singer's death at 62
Toby Keith's family is growing by one more than 18 months after the singer's death. The country music star, best known for songs like 'Red Solo Cup' and 'Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,' died on Feb. 5, 2024, following a battle with stomach cancer, according to NBC News. He was 62. On Aug. 15, Keith's son, Stelen Keith Covel, took to Instagram to announce the birth of his first baby. 'Millie is here,' Covel's wife, Haley, wrote in the caption of the joint post, which featured a photo of Millie Brooks Covel wrapped in a swaddle next to a piece of fabric with her name and initials on it. 'We love you so much little girl,' Haley added in the caption. Covel is the youngest child and only son of Keith and his wife Tricia Lucus, who were married for nearly 40 years. The couple tied the knot in 1984, at which point Keith adopted Lucus' daughter Shelley Covel Rowland, now 44, according to People. They went on to welcome their first baby together — daughter Krystal Keith, 39 — in 1985 followed by their lone son, Stelen Keith Covel, in 1997. Toby Keith's death was announced Feb. 6, 2024, in a post shared on his website and X account. 'Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5, surrounded by his family,' the statement read. 'He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.' The 'I Love This Bar' singer announced in 2022 that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer the year prior, according to NPR. With the birth of baby Millie, Toby Keith's kids now each have at least one child of their own. According to People, Keith's adopted daughter Shelley, born in 1980, shares at least one child with her husband. Meanwhile, his biological daughter Krystal — a talented singer herself — shares two daughters, Kirby and Hensley, with her husband, per NBC News. In 2023, Keith took to Instagram to share a photo of his family as they celebrated Thanksgiving together. As for Stelen Keith Covel, he and his wife, Haley, announced their pregnancy on Feb. 13 — one week after the one-year anniversary of his father's death. 'Baby Covel coming this summer,' the couple wrote in an Instagram post. Covel's jacket was unzipped just enough to reveal a picture of his dad on his undershirt.
