Ranveer Singh Got A 'Boner' When Karan Johar Read Takht Script: 'Narration Main Fulleshwari'

News1811-07-2025
Ranveer Singh admitted to having 'inappropriate thoughts' during the narration of Takht.
While Karan Johar 's grand historical drama, Takht, may not have seen the light of day, its writing managed to arouse Ranveer Singh. Originally announced in 2020 with a star-studded ensemble, it was slated for a Christmas 2021 release. However, it quietly disappeared from Dharma Productions' lineup. However, Ranveer Singh's cheeky mention of the film in an old episode of Koffee With Karan intrigued fans. The clip has resurfaced on Reddit, creating further anticipation.
During the episode, Karan Johar asked Ranveer Singh if he had ever had any inappropriate thoughts during the narration of a film. Ranveer Singh immediately said, 'Yeah, I got a hop during Takht." This left Karan Johar surprised as he was the one who narrated the film to Ranveer.
Ranveer admitted he 'got a 'fulleshwari' when that Hira Bai and Aurangzeb scene happens". When Karan mentioned that Ranveer was not even supposed to be a part of that scene, Ranveer called it the power of the filmmaker's writing. 'But that's the power of your writing, Karan. Narration mein 'fulleshwari'. Kya baat hai!" the actor responded.
One person wrote on Reddit, 'So Ranveer got a boner listening to the narration?" Another added, 'Miss this version of Ranveer. He was damn funny in this episode." Another wrote, 'Takht is one movie I still really hope gets made one day. A Mughal-era political family drama directed by Karan Johar? Whatever the result, this interesting experiment needed to happen." One person commented, 'Honestly, if SLB can make a Heeramandi, this film can easily be made into a mini series; just make sure it's not another Kalank."
While Karan Johar had previously mentioned that Takht had been shelved, he confirmed this year that the film will happen. In a 2025 chat with Galatta Plus, Karan Johar finally broke his silence on what went wrong. Without delving into the details, the filmmaker acknowledged that 'multiple factors" kept the ambitious project from taking off. But is Takht off the table for good? Absolutely not. 'It's a film on my table, and I will make it one day," Karan asserted, reigniting fan hopes.
Originally announced with a teaser featuring a regal throne, Takht had all the makings of a magnum opus. Its sudden halt left fans puzzled, especially given the star power and grandeur associated with the project. The film was supposed to feature Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor as the leads.

'Mujhe Daant Padi': Amitabh Bachchan Scolded Rajiv Rai For Making Kajol The Killer In Gupt

Director Rajiv Rai recalls Amitabh Bachchan scolding him for making Kajol the killer in Gupt. Director Rajiv Rai's 1997 thriller Gupt left a generation stunned with its shocking twist — Kajol, the film's beloved heroine, was revealed to be the murderer. The bold move to cast a female lead as the villain was considered groundbreaking in Hindi cinema at the time. But not everyone was on board with this twist — including none other than Amitabh Bachchan, who personally questioned Rai's decision ahead of the film's release. In a recent interview on the Ravi Buleiy Official YouTube channel, Rajiv Rai shared a fascinating anecdote about a trial screening of Gupt held in Chennai. Amitabh Bachchan had attended the show and called Rai the very next day. 'He said, 'Rajiv, are you convinced with what you have done in this film? You have made Kajol the killer, are you sure? How can you be so sure?' So in one way, as a senior, he scolded me," Rai said. 'Mere ko daant padi. He is a senior, he can obviously scold me." Rajiv went on to explain that despite Bachchan's doubts, he stood firm in his creative vision, 'He questioned me, 'How are you so confident that this will work?' I told him, 'Sir, I don't have an answer for your questions. It is Wednesday already, please wait for 2 days, you will get your answer.'" As history would have it, Gupt opened to critical and commercial success, and Kajol's performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Villain, becoming the first actress to win in that category. Rajiv Rai also recalled his early professional ties to Amitabh Bachchan, having worked as an assistant director on classic films like Trishul and Kaala Patthar, both of which starred the megastar. He revealed that during a challenging phase in Bachchan's career — between 1992 and 1994 — he developed a script with Anees Bazmee specifically for the legendary actor. Despite Rai's high hopes, Bachchan declined the project, 'He said that the phase that I am going through right now, I don't want to do any films. He was not going through a good phase then," Rai said. 'He was confused, and in that confusion, he said no. He is not a confused man but his circumstances were such." The rejection left Rai heartbroken, 'I was like, 'I worked so hard, I was angry with my destiny, not with Amitabh Bachchan. I thought if destiny does not want me to work with Amit ji, I will work with someone new, so I made Mohra with Suniel Shetty." That decision turned out to be career-defining. Mohra, released in 1994, was a major hit, and along with Gupt, cemented Rai's legacy as one of the most daring and successful directors of 1990s Bollywood. He was with his family and surrounded by love." The news prompted an outpouring of tributes from some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Ozzy's Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi. He told BBC Radio 4's Today: 'He loved what he did, he loved music, he loved playing together, and I'm so glad we had the opportunity of getting together again to do the [farewell] show. 'It was brilliant being with all the guys again, and the atmosphere, and it was brilliant for Ozzy because he really wanted to do that, he felt at home there and it was good for all of us." Kiss frontman Gene Simmons also paid a glowing tribute to the late star, describing Ozzy as a 'unique, loveable person". Gene, 75, told the BBC: 'I know that, right now, millions of fans around the world are crying and shocked, and my heart goes out to Sharon and the family and the fans. 'There were no airs about him – he's met kings queens, political leaders, I think it's fair to say there was never an Ozzy Osbourne before Ozzy, and there will be another Ozzy. He was a unique, loveable person." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
