India's head coach Gautam Gambhir spoke on Jasprit Bumrah playing in the fifth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England starting from July 31 at the Oval.
He said there has been no decision made whether Jasprit Bumrah will play in the last test match or not.
'There has been no discussion about anyone and no decision has been made whether Jasprit Bumrah will play in the last test match or not. Ultimately, whoever plays, whether they play or not, they will try and do the job for the country,' Gambhir told media.
Bumrah has been the best bowler for the Indian team in the ongoing series, having grabbed 14 wickets with two fifers at an average of 26.00 and an economy rate of 3.04.
He also said, 'All fast bowlers are fit, there is no injury.'
Gambhir emphasized his focus on results, acknowledging India's 2-1 deficit in the series. Despite the team's inexperience, he considers it the best Indian team currently and aims to level the series to 2-2.
'You're asking someone who only believes in results. And I've always said that in the past as well. I believe in the results.
'We're still 2-1 down in the series. This is an Indian team. Yes, there is an inexperience, but this is still the best Indian team right now. So for me, I think we're still down 2-1, and hopefully we can try and make it 2-2. It would be a great achievement,' he added.

Man Utd set to sign Sesko from Leipzig

Manchester United have agreed a deal worth up to 85 million euros ($99m) to sign striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, according to multiple reports in England. United will reportedly pay an initial 76.5 million euros ($89m) for the 22-year-old with a further 8.5 million euros ($9.9m) due in add-ons. Newcastle United were also interested in signing the Slovenian, possibly to replace wantaway star Alexander Isak, a target for Liverpool. However, Sesko has been wooed by the enduring stature of the 20-time English champions, despite a lack of European football in the coming season. His arrival will complete an overhaul of the Red Devils' blunt attack. Only four other teams scored fewer than United's 44 goals in 38 Premier League games last season as the English giants endured their worst campaign for 51 years, finishing 15th in the table. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo were signed earlier in the window, taking United's total spend on forwards in recent months to more than 200 million pounds ($268.6m). Sesko had also previously been linked with Arsenal after impressing during his two-year spell in Germany, where he scored 39 times in 87 appearances for Leipzig, including 21 last season. Standing 1.95 metres (6ft 4ins) tall, Sesko's towering physique, electric pace and eye for goal have earned comparisons with Manchester City's Erling Haaland. Like Haaland, he also made his name at RB Salzburg before moving to Germany in 2023. United are banking on Sesko realising his abundant potential to fire them back into contention at the top of the Premier League table. Between them, Sesko, Cunha and Mbeumo combined for 58 goals last season. The massive outlay on their arrivals needs to bear fruit quickly, with United under pressure to meet financial sustainability rules, especially without the revenue of European football this season.

England-India Test series best since 2005 Ashes: Agnew

The just concluded Test series between England and India has been described as the best since 2005 Ashes, says Jonathan Agnew, English cricket broadcaster and a former cricketer. Writing for the BBC, Agnew said: 'This series between England and India has definitely been the best that I have been involved in since the Ashes in 2005. Winning in Australia in 2010-11 was also special, but this has had all the ingredients that makes Test match cricket so special - the intensity, the combative nature at times, the immense skill. It has had everything, it has been every bit as competitive and compelling as any Ashes series. Of course, England supporters would have loved Gus Atkinson to have scored those runs, even just six more for a tie, but to get a finish like that - regardless of who wins - is absolutely great for Test cricket. Ultimately it was India who won the fifth Test by six runs to secure a 2-2 draw, a result they deserved. I've enjoyed the competitive nature throughout, it is what Test cricket is all about. You don't see it in T20 or franchise cricket. It shows how much people and the players care about Test cricket and playing for your country, you can tell the difference. The 7,187 runs scored is the most in a five-Test series, and it is just the second time in the past 20 years that every game in a series of that length has gone to a final day. If any administrator in the world game looks at this series and is considering four-day Tests as the way to go, they shouldn't be an administrator in cricket. That's all that needs to be said.'

Coach Gambhir hails India's performance

ANI New Delhi With India drawing series with a spectacular victory against England in the last Test of the five-match contest, head coach Gautam Gambhir hailed the team's performance, saying that the team 'deserves every bit of it' and it is difficult to 'mention one name' which stands out. The Indian cricket team's new era under coach Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill began on a promising note, as immense fighting spirit, resilience and never-say-die mentality of a new-look Indian squad helped them seal a series draw, beating England by six runs at The Oval in a thriller to level the series 2-2. Speaking to the media following his return to Delhi, Gambhir said he is happy. 'I think boys deserve every bit of it for the way they performed in all five Tests.' Gambhir hailed pacer Siraj, who was the leading wicket-taker with 23 scalps, including nine at The Oval, but pointed out it is difficult to mention just one name who stood out the most. 'I think he (Siraj) has been brilliant. In fact, not only he, but the entire team has performed brilliantly. It is very difficult for me to mention one name, but these guys have, be it Shubman, be it Siraj, be it everyone... I think the boys have been brilliant throughout the last two months,' said Gambhir. Gambhir said that Shubman did a 'fabulous job'. 'That is all I can say, and he will keep doing good for Indian cricket,' he concluded. The series saw close contests in all matches with both sides making new records. All matches ended on the fifth day and the last match of the series was befitting a final with both teams dominating different sessions.
