In response, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) issued a prompt reply, stating that meals are inspected before serving and that no other passenger had complained. However, they acknowledged the feedback and assured that appropriate measures would be taken to address the issue.
"Concerning the feedback regarding catering services provided by you on 11/07/25 in the New Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express train, we wish to inform you that the quality of the food is checked before serving, and no complaints in this regard have been received from other passengers in the said coach; rather, the catering has generally been appreciated. The catering team available on the train attended to you and also offered a replacement meal. Nevertheless, taking your feedback seriously and to further strengthen the quality, a senior official has been appointed to ensure compliance with all standards, and appropriate guidelines will be ensured accordingly," the reply by IRCTC read.

AAP slams BJP over bomb threats to schools
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leaders on Wednesday slammed the BJP government and questioned the 'silence' of central agencies after private schools in Delhi received fresh bomb threats for the third consecu-tive day. AAP national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the BJP-led Cen-tre is indifferent to the fear and disruption caused by these threats. 'Neither Home Minister Amit Shah nor his four-engine governments have any concern for the peo-ple of Delhi or their children. The BJP is bent on turning Delhi into a lawless jungle,' he charged in a post on X. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia questioned the silence of central agencies over the repeated hoax threats and said, 'Delhi schools are receiving bomb threats almost every month. Echoing similar concerns, AAP's Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj said there is growing panic among parents due to the repeated threats. 'Today, a private school in Delhi received a threat again, messages were sent to parents to pick up their children from school, and chaos erupted everywhere. AAP's free coaching scheme under scanner, L-G orders probe – ‘will have to account for every penny' says CM Rekha Gupta
Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has ordered a probe into alleged corruption in the free coaching scheme for the underprivileged launched by the previous Aam Aadmi Party government (AAP), Education Minister Ashish Sood said on Wednesday. The decision was taken based on the recommendation of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who in a post on X said, 'Allegations of major financial irregularities have emerged in the 'Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana' during 2020-21.' Gupta alleged that while the scheme's official budget was ₹ 15 crore, the Arvind Kejriwal government cleared bills worth over ₹ 145 crore. The scheme, launched in 2018, aimed to provide free coaching to SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and minority students at private coaching institutes for various competitive exams, including the UPSC, SSC, NEET, and CLAT. The scheme was discontinued when the new government was formed in February this year. Hitting back at the BJP-led government, the Aam Aadmi Party termed the ACB probe as "vendetta politics." Addressing a press conference, Sood, flanked by SC/ST Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj, alleged that during 2021-22, private coaching institutes submitted bills of ₹ 145 crore, despite minimal documentation and no proper verification of beneficiaries. "Shockingly, the AAP government did not even ask for a list of students from these institutes before processing the bills," Sood said, adding that after the BJP government came to power, the institutes were asked to submit student details and a list of 13,000 students was received, he said. According to him, verified records, however, showed only about 3,000 students receiving coaching under the scheme. "There was such corruption by the previous AAP government that even Dr Ambedkar's soul would be pained," the minister said. Indraj pointed out that the matter is already under judicial scrutiny and that the government's preliminary findings reveal that about 35 coaching centres failed to provide verified data for even 100 students. He charged that when the COVID cases were going up and lakhs of families were struggling financially, leaders from the previous government, in alleged collusion with "coaching mafias," launched this scam. Sood said the scheme was proposed to coach 4,900 students in 2018 and 2,071 in 2019. However, between July 2021 and August 2022, bills worth ₹ 145 crore were submitted. "Surprisingly, instead of verifying the bills, the AAP government later took the coaching institutes to court over the payments," he added. Sood said, "The average coaching cost is ₹ 1 lakh for IAS, ₹ 50,000 for MBA/CLAT, ₹ 30,000 for SSC/LIC, ₹ 25,000 for Group-C exams and ₹ 10,000 for interview preparation." He added, "Even if we consider that all 3,000 verified students took IAS coaching, the maximum cost would be around ₹ 30 crore. How did it become ₹ 145 crore?" Gupta, in her post, said the Aam Aadmi Party will have to account for every penny. "Their politics has always been a show in the name of Dalits. But when it came to responsibility, they did not hesitate to rob them of their rights. Now their real face will be exposed," she alleged. The AAP in a statement said the saffron party had "shut down a functioning model" of public services in education, health, and electricity, alleging it of indulging in vendetta politics. "Check every brick in Delhi's schools, every needle in our Mohalla Clinics … But after you are done with your witch hunt, start doing some real work," the party said in the statement, urging the BJP to honour the public mandate and focus on governance. The party alleged that civic issues such as power cuts, sewer overflows, and fee hikes in private schools have worsened under the BJP's watch. "Six months have gone by, and not a single step has been taken to address the issues of ordinary citizens," it said. The AAP flagged the BJP's yet-to-be ratified promise of ₹ 2,500 per month to them. The AAP will have to account for every penny. "They have turned 'Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makaan' into 'Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Maidaan,'" it added.

At Sadbhavna Camp, tradition of Muslims showering kanwariyas with rose petals continues
On a stretch of road that runs parallel to a mosque and a cemetery in Northeast Delhi's Jafrabad, Kawariyas dressed in saffron arrive one after the other. As they approach a camp for kanwars, named 'Sadbhavna Camp', the kawariyas chant their usual refrain – 'Bam Lahiri' and 'Bol Bam.' But at this particular camp, something is different. A group of men, wearing white kurtas and skull caps, wait at the camp's entrance with rose petals in their hands. 'Hamare kawariya bhai aa rahe hain, unka swagat kariye, unko namaste kariye, unko salaam kijiye (Our Kanwariya brothers are coming, welcome them, greet them, salute them),' a man announces. As the kanwariyas pass the camp, the men raise their arms and release the rose petals into the air. 'Hindu-Muslim-Sikh-Isai, aapas mein hain hum sab bhai-bhai… Hindustan zindabad, Hindustan ki ekta zindabad (Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, we are all brothers… Long live India, long live the unity of India),' they chant. As the petals land on the kanwariyas, for a moment, they slow down, confused. Then someone cheers, 'Jai Bholenath', and the rest join in. Inside the camp, there is chilled water, fruits, soft drinks, and shade under a blue-and-white fabric tent erected by Seelampur MLA Zubair Chaudhary. A sign outside reads: 'Sadbhavna Camp mein aap sabhi kanwariyon ka hardik swagat.' The camp was first set up in 1994 as an attempt to reduce communal disharmony in the area. It was the initiative of Chaudhary's father, Chaudhary Mateen Ahmed, a five-time Congress MLA. While the family has since shifted allegiance to the Aam Aadmi Party before this year's Delhi elections, the 31-year-old tradition of Muslims showering kanwariyas with rose petals continues. 'Before 1994, when kanwariyas used to pass from here, fights or riots would break out. They usually chant 'Bam Bam' or 'Har Har Mahadev' but because the residents here didn't understand these chants, they felt they were being provoked. The tension would carry forward to Seelampur, where Muslims were targeted in retaliation,' Zubair told The Indian Express. 'After my father became MLA in 1993, he organised the first camp the following year. He sat here with the members of the Muslim community to ensure peace. The most remarkable thing was that the entire community supported it. Thirty-one years have passed since that first camp, and there hasn't been a single untoward incident. The goal has always been to ensure that Shiv bhakts, those who bring back Gangajal from Gaumukh, Haridwar and Rishikesh, are able to walk without facing any trouble,' he added. Jafrabad was among the neighbourhoods worst hit during the 2020 Delhi riots. Memories of charred homes and lost lives still linger. But at the Sadbhavna camp, saffron and white co-exits. 'Much has been lost, but much has survived. We hope this helps heal past bruises,' said Riyaz Uddin, who has been serving at the camp for all of its 31 years. 'Every year, we sit here, handing out fruits and water to our kawariya brothers and sisters.' 'We all want to live like brothers and sisters. We want unity, we are all Indians. We shouldn't be fighting,' said Prabhat Lal, a Jafrabad resident and a volunteer at the camp. 'An initiative like this bridges gaps and builds kindness in our hearts.' A few kanwariyas leave the camp with rose petals still clinging to their shoulders. 'The journey has been long, but I don't feel tired. Faith gives me the strength to walk for miles. And this gesture has given me even more courage,' said Jitendra Shyam, a contractor from Rajasthan who is on the pilgrimage with his neighbour.
