Nebraska high school to name field after former Husker offensive lineman Cam Jurgens
A former Nebraska offensive lineman is being honored by his high school. Beatrice High School, in Beatrice, Nebraska, will name its football field Cam Jurgens Field after the former Nebraska center.
Jurgens was a three-sport star at Beatrice High and was the top in-state prospect in the 2018 recruiting class. He would sign with the Cornhuskers and played for Nebraska from 2018-21. The former Husker started his career as a tight end before making the switch to center.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected the center in the second round with the 51st pick overall in the 2022 NFL draft. He recently signed a four-year $68 million extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. This includes a $39.4 million guaranteed contract and keeps him with the organization through the 2029 season.

Spartans listed as new favorite to beat out Wisconsin for priority 3-star WR prospect

Spartans listed as new favorite to beat out Wisconsin for priority 3-star WR prospect It's a battle between Michigan State and Wisconsin for a notable wide receiver prospect right now, and it appears things may be swaying in the Spartans' favor all of a sudden. A few weeks ago it looked like three-star wide receiver Zachary Washington was heading to Madison, Wisc. to continue his football career, but the latest intel from On3 suggests things may have shifted in the Spartans' favor. While Washington -- who hails from Wheaton, Ill. -- still has crystal ball predictions in favor of Wisconsin on 247Sports from last week, the Spartans are now listed as the clear-cut favorite to land his commitment on competitor recruiting site On3. On On3, Michigan State currently holds an 85% chance to land his commitment, while Wisconsin is only at 8% and West Virginia at 3%. Washington is a three-star prospect with an 87 recruiting rating on 247Sports. He ranks as the No. 111 wide receiver in the class and No. 883 overall prospect in the country. He is considered one of the top priorities at wide receiver for the Spartans in the 2026 class. Michigan State hosted Washington for an official visit last weekend, which came one week after he visited Wisconsin. He will reportedly take an official visit to West Virginia this weekend as well. There is no known commitment date for Washington at this time, but it sounds like these are the three teams he is focused on within his recruiting. So with all three official visits completed after this weekend, we could certainly see a college announcement coming in the next few weeks. Michigan State has been hot on the recruiting trail lately with eight commits since the start of June. The Spartans have seen their class move up the charts thanks to this latest flurry with Michigan State now ranking No. 34 nationally at the posting of this article. The addition of Washington to this class would only further this surge from the Spartans on the recruiting trail. Rams Latest Signing Could Point to Major Repeated Issue From 2024 Season

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Los Angeles Rams pulled off a massive rebound during the 2024 season. Despite starting the season 1-4, the team was able to put together a massive 5-1 run to secure a playoff berth. More news: Exclusive: Barry Sanders Reveals New Details on His Heart Attack A major reason for the rough start was the offensive line of the Rams being decimated by injuries. Alaric Jackson, Rob Havenstein, Steve Avila, and Jonah Jackson missed the beginning of the season due to injuries and Jackson being suspended for the first two games. Now, the Rams are looking ahead to the 2025 season, but the team is once again faced with a potential big hit on the offensive line. Alaric Jackson is currently dealing with blood clots, which is a similar issue faced in 2022. #Rams OT Alaric Jackson, a key member of the O-line who just signed an extension, is dealing with blood clots once again, per The Insiders. Similar to what he had in 2022. While the belief is he'll play in 2025, there are still questions. That explains the DJ Humphries signing. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) June 13, 2025 Though multiple reports have indicated that Jackson could play, there is enough concern that the Rams signed former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman D.J. Humphries. We have signed OL D.J. Humphries to a 1-year deal. ⤵️ — Los Angeles Rams (@RamsNFL) June 13, 2025 The Rams announced that Humphries had been signed to a one-year deal. It's never a bad idea to sign more depth, especially on the offensive line. Humphries coming aboard was the right move, as the Rams saw firsthand what it's like to have thin offensive line depth. However, there also sounds like there be deeper concerns with the blood clot issues that Jackson is facing. PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - JANUARY 19: Jonah Jackson #72 and Neville Gallimore #92 of the Los Angeles Rams walk together prior to the NFC Divisional playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on January 19, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. MoreMore news: Steelers HC Mike Tomlin Offers Major Update on TJ Watt Minicamp Holdout Considering his injury history, the Rams might be preparing for a reality where Jackson is going to miss multiple games. The Rams have a new offense to take care of, which includes the loss of veteran Cooper Kupp, but also the addition of Davante Adams. Adams and Puka Nacua figure to be the new one-two punch combo that can propel the offense in an even bigger way. With running back Kyren Williams also a star, the Rams' offense could be even more dangerous in 2025. The issue is that the offense will sputter again if the offensive line is not in top shape. Losing Jackson for multiple games will certainly put a damper on the offensive line, but Humphries is a nice addition. He is still a young contributor who can replace Jackson in a solid way, should the veteran have to miss multiple games due to the blood clot issue he is dealing with. The hope for the Rams is that no one else on the offensive line suffers an injury, like in the 2024 season.
