2.35 Lakh houses approved under PMAY-Urban 2.0 during 3rd meeting of CSMC
The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) in its third meeting held on 18 June 2025 has approved construction of 2.35 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). the meeting was held under the chairmanship of Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
The total houses approved are 2,34,864 in nine States namely, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
PMAY-U 2.0 is being implemented through four verticals Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) and Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS). The houses approved in the CSMC meeting are under BLC and AHP verticals of the Scheme. So far, the total number of houses sanctioned under PMAY-U 2.0 is 7,09,979.
During the meeting, Secretary, MoHUA directed the larger States to prepare affordable housing policy and bring the proposals under AHP vertical of PMAY-U 2.0. States/UTs may study the affordable housing policy of the State of Maharashtra and adapt it according to their local requirements. States/UTs were also advised to identify and attach beneficiaries under the AHP vertical at initial phase of approval to avoid unoccupancy issues at a later stage.
Among the houses approved today under PMAY-U 2.0, more than 1.25 lakh houses have been sanctioned for the women alone, including single women and widows, ensuring empowerment of women. The scheme also promotes inclusiveness and social equity among different underprivileged groups with 42,400 houses allotted in name of for SC beneficiaries, 17,574 houses for ST beneficiaries and 1,13,414 for the OBC.
Under PMAY-U 2.0, 1 crore families will be provided financial assistance to construct or purchase a pucca house in urban areas. The Scheme focusses on upliftment of poor and middle-class families by giving them secured houses to focus on the betterment of their lives. Individuals/families, who do not own a pucca house anywhere in the country, are eligible to purchase or construct a house under PMAY-U 2.0. Central Assistance of up to Rs 2.50 lakh per housing unit is provided.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U), launched in June 2015, was revamped and launched as PMAY-U 2.0. Under PMAY-U, more than 93.19 Lakh houses have already been constructed and delivered to beneficiaries. With launch of PMAY-U 2.0, additional 1 crore EWS/LIG/MIG families of urban India will be provided pucca houses.

'The Kanpur Metro Rail Project of 32.38 route km at a cost Rs.11,076.48 crore and Agra Metro Rail Project of 29.4 route km at a cost of Rs.8,379.62 crore have already been sanctioned. OHRC asks govt to pay Rs 20k interim aid to families ‘evicted' for airstrip
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has asked the govt to pay an interim compensation of Rs 20,000 to each of the 26 families who were evicted by the Mayurbhanj administration on March 26 for the development of Dandbose airstrip under Rairangpur block. OHRC passed the order on July 29 after hearing a petition filed by affected residents of Pokharia village and activists, including Biswapriya Kanungo and Narendra Mohanty, on April 8. The affected persons present at the hearing submitted that they never gave consent to vacate their land. They were evicted forcibly with only one month's notice, during summer. Earlier, the Rairangpur tehsildar and other officials disconnected electricity supply to their houses without listening to their requests, they alleged. Despite the recommendations of the commission, temporary shelters were not provided to the affected, stated the OHRC order. "In the scorching heat, 43 families of tribals residing on the govt land under Rairangpur tehsil were evicted without following the procedure of law, resulting in a violation of human rights," the order added. The commission took cognisance of the matter and recommended that the Mayurbhanj collector provide immediate temporary shelter to the affected people. The investigating wing of the commission also visited the site. A report was also furnished by the district collector, tehsildar and BDO concerned. However, the Mayurbhanj administration, in its report, stated that there was no forcible eviction. "As they were residing by encroaching on the govt land identified for the development of Dandbose airstrip under the UDAN scheme in the public interest, they were evicted by following the due procedure of law," read the report. Give 2 months' notice before firing Mohalla Clinic staff, HC tells govt.
The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi government to provide two months' notice to staff members of Mohalla Clinics in case it proposes to terminate their services before March 31 next year. The court's order came while dealing with a petition filed by staff members of Mohalla Clinics hired on a contractual basis by the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. The petitioners, employed as pharmacists, assistants, and multitask workers, had sought directions against their termination and replacement with other contractual employees. The BJP government has decided to roll out a network of Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (U-AAMs) and subsume Mohalla Clinics, a flagship programme of the previous AAP government. The court's August 6 order disposed of the petition with the direction that 'in the event the respondents [Delhi government] propose to terminate the petitioners' engagement before March 31, 2026, on the ground that new manpower has been engaged..., they are directed to give two weeks' notice to the concerned... (staff)'. The staff members had submitted that some of them have been telephonically instructed not to report for duty. The counsel for the Delhi government had submitted that no decision has been taken by the authorities to dispense with the services of any employees of Mohalla Clinics. As of August 2023, 533 Mohalla Clinics were operational in Delhi, providing healthcare services to the city's residents. However, at least seven Mohalla Clinics have already been converted into U-AAMs under the Centre's Ayushman Bharat scheme. Following a protest on May 17 by the staff of Mohalla Clinics, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had given them an assurance that existing paramedical and support staff would be adjusted within U-AAMs.
