Bradley Walsh reveals The Chase 'ban' and says 'I'd be fired'
Bradley Walsh has cautioned he'd be "fired" from The Chase if he implemented any major alterations.
The cherished host, 65, has fronted the ITV quiz show since it launched in 2009, and is set to grace our screens again with a fresh series.
Nevertheless, Bradley has assured viewers it won't differ from the usual format.
Whilst appearing on The One Show tonight (Friday 15 August), Bradley faced questions about his hectic timetable.
"You've got The Chase coming up, you've got Beat The Chasers as well, anything different we can expect from these series?" presenter Clara Amfo enquired, reports Bristol Live.
Bradley promptly responded: "No they're the same, they're what you see on the tin.
"I'm not allowed to do anything different, I think I'd get fired if I did anything different.
"You've got to stick to the rules, and stick to the format."
He continued: "You can have a laugh in between."
This follows Bradley confessing he doesn't object to being perceived as "old and grumpy" whilst discussing his altered attitude towards the projects he accepts given his packed schedule.
He revealed: "People say to me 'you never stop working', but here's the thing, and I tell every young performer this, 'if you enjoy the job you do, you will never do a day's work in your life'.
"It's as simple as that. I try and have as much time as I possibly can off, but I just love what I do."
The Gladiators host went on to tell My Weekly magazine: "As you know, the older you get, the more belligerent you get. I'm 65 now.
"Do you know what age and experience brings? Freedom. Because you can say, 'Absolutely not. No, I'm not doing that. I don't want to go there'.
"And people will just remark, 'He's just old and grumpy', well, that's fine by me."

The corporation is said to have alerted the Metropolitan Police to new allegations about the hit dance competition show, the details of which have not been specified, according to The Sun on Sunday. Earlier this week, a longtime worker claimed they were offered drugs by a star on the show. The BBC reality series reportedly launched an external probe to investigate cocaine use by two stars earlier this month, as well as claims that a star was drinking on the show. The whistleblower who worked behind-the-scenes on the show for a decade until 2023 has said he witnessed 'partying at Elsetree studio after live filming. The latest scandal comes after two former professionals Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima were removed from the show (and replaced) after behavioural accusations from former partners were revealed. Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans, 53, was also sensationally dumped from the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour over inappropriate comments. In addition to this, the recent addition of Thomas Skinner to the cast has also been widely criticised. The scandal-hit show was the subject of a review in 2024, when the BBC looked into allegations of bullying and harassment against Pernice by his former dance partner Amanda Abbington. The corporation upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made – and introduced a series of new measures aimed at improving welfare. This included the introduction of a chaperone who is present 'at all times' during training room rehearsals. Where Changing Rooms' Handy Andy is now from marriage to unrecognisable new look
Handy Andy - real name Andy Kane - was a hugely popular member of the Changing Rooms team with viewers. But what has he been up to since he left the show in 2004? Popular 90s DIY show Changing Rooms was a firm favourite on our screens, but the cast look very different to nowadays. Viewers of the BBC show tuned in weekly to see the team take on some major home transformations, making the stars of the show household names in the process. Hosted by Carol Smillie, Changing Rooms drew in a whopping 10 million viewers at its peak on BBC One and created some iconic moments - who can forget when a £6,000 teapot collection was destroyed in one fell swoop by a floating shelf in series 8? Designers Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Linda Barker, and Anna Ryder Richardson were the ones tasked with helping members of the public transform a room in someone else's house - be it a friend, family member or neighbour. And then to help them make it a reality, the show's handyman, Handy Andy (Andy Kane) swooped in. DIY expert Andy appeared on the show from 1996-2004 and was a key player in the transformation process. But what has he been up to in the years since? After the show ended, Andy landed a role on the American version of the programme, named Trading Spaces, and he also presented three shows for UK Style, Room Rival , Garden Rivals and Streetcombers. He is happily married to his wife Geraldine and together they have four children. Andy was a popular member of the team and the chatty Cockney proved to be a big hit with viewers too. While he frequently impressed with his DIY, it didn't always go to plan, and he later spoke about his most major mishap - when the teapot collection was destroyed. Designer Linda had commissioned a floating shelf to house them but weighed it down with heavy books, causing the shelf to collapse overnight. Andy told the Metro: "It went wrong because they put too much weight on it. The shelf was obviously just for show and just the teapots on it would have been fine, but then they started loading up with books at the bottom. "I did say at the time that books are very heavy but they carried on and you know, it's one of them things. When it happened, it was really, really awful, everyone felt really bad, but now you just laugh about it. But it was good entertainment, wasn't it? "In other episodes of the show they'd mount chairs on the wall or hang chairs from ceilings and as a builder, you're like 'really?!', but that's interior design for you."
