Car Deal of the Day: The Peugeot 308 GT is one of the cheapest hatchbacks around at £211 a month
Mild-hybrid petrol; over 62mpg
Just £211.37 a month
When it comes to creating a daringly designed hatchback, Peugeot has form. The Peugeot 308 is just the latest in a long line of good-looking hatchbacks from the firm, and the great news is that such head-turning style needn't cost the earth.
This deal from VIPGateway.co.uk, via the Auto Express Find a Car service, sees you taking the keys to a top-spec 308 for under £212 a month. It means the plush Pug is one of the cheapest family hatchbacks on lease around. Advertisement - Article continues below
To get the ball rolling you'll need to fork out a not-unreasonable £2,886.41 as an initial payment, and the deal is for 36 months. Mileage is capped at 5,000 a year, but that can be nudged up to 8,000 for under £12.50 extra a month.
The latest 308 has a real premium look about it, and that's only underlined by this top-spec GT model.
For £211.37 a month, you'll be getting 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, full matrix LED headlights, 3D LED rear lights, ambient lighting, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Peugeot's trademark i-Cockpit. But, because it's the GT model, you also get a third extra screen for the i-Toggles – a customisable widget screen, to you and I. Sat-nav is thrown in, too.
Those three screens – a digital display for the dials, a 10-inch touchscreen, and the i-Toggles – give the interior a really techy vibe. But more than that, the latest 308 has a plush feel with high-quality materials used throughout.
The 308 isn't the roomiest hatchback on sale, nor is it the most thrilling to drive. But the 136bhp 1.2-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine is a fine performer, and very frugal, with Peugeot claiming over 62mpg on the combined cycle.

Car Deal of the Day: the stylish Ford Capri is now as cheap as the Explorer
Coupe looks, SUV practicality Good to drive; £2,200 pack for free Just £228 a month It may share little with its original namesake in looks and packaging, but the latest Ford Capri does have one thing in common – and that's aspiration. It sits above its sister car, the Explorers as a more sporting, prestigious model. And yet, right now, you can lease one for the same dough. On the Auto Express Find a Car service, Ford's own dealer group, TrustFord, is offering the Capri for a bonkers £228 a month – that's the cheapest we've ever seen. TrustFord is also offering the Explorer for exactly the same price a month with an identical £2,736 initial payment, so take your choice. Advertisement - Article continues below We'd be tempted to opt for the Capri, though. This deal gets you the entry-level Style with the smaller battery pack, so features such as 19-inch aero alloy wheels, a 14.6-inch touchscreen, a soundbar, LED headlights and intelligent adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, all come as standard. But, get this – TrustFord is also throwing in the Driver Assistance Pack for free, getting you keyless entry with door-handle illumination, a head-up display, a 360-degree parking camera and an electric tailgate, among other features. This would normally cost you £2,200 alone but here's it's zilch. The 52kWh battery pack will give you a claimed 242 miles of range, so around 220 miles in everyday driving is likely. Meanwhile, a 168bhp electric motor powering the rear wheels gives more than enough poke. Handling-wise, the Capri doesn't drive like a two-door sports car, but it is rather good for a large, five-door coupe-SUV, with solid body control and a well controlled ride. The interior is a near carbon-copy of the Explorer's, so it's modern, well laid-out and nicely finished. And despite that sloping roofline, space in the back is very good, while the boot capacity is an impressive 572 litres. Mercedes has nearly 1,000bhp, courtesy of Brabus
You're looking at the Brabus 1000, a modified version of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe that comes with a collection of styling and technical upgrades, and some colossal performance figures. Brabus has not announced any prices for its new two-door flagship, but given that the car on which it's based already costs well over £185,000, we suspect it'll be another big number. Advertisement - Article continues below The company's modifications to the Porsche 911 rival run deep, including a heavy update of AMG's twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It has been enlarged from 4.0 to 4.5 litres, plus two new turbochargers with higher boost pressures have been fitted. However, the car's headline power figure isn't derived from just a V8 engine, because Brabus has based the 1000 on the GT 63 S E Performance, which pairs a 197bhp electrified rear axle with the traditional petrol engine. As such, this would mean the V8 engine develops around 800bhp in order to create the total output of 1000hp (987bhp), from which the car's name is derived. This is the same powertrain used in the four-door Brabus Rocket 1000, which produces 1,820Nm of torque. However, to protect the nine-speed automatic transmission, it is limited to 'only' 1,620Nm in the new model. Brabus quotes a 0-62mph time of 2.6 seconds for the 1000, which is about 0.2 seconds faster than the AMG model it's based on, and its top speed is electronically limited to 198mph. The 1000 also features a range of styling upgrades, most of which are made from carbon fibre. These include new splitters, spoilers and wings, while the grille also features new inserts on either side, plus there's a new set of staggered 21 and 22-inch wheels. There's no detail on any updates to the chassis, aside from a new height-adjustable suspension. How this works with AMG's hydraulically-interconnected dampers, if they are still fitted, remains to be seen. If, however, you're in the market for a high performance AMG model, make sure to check out Auto Express's online marketplace . Brabus has also been busy inside the car, reupholstering much of the cabin and replacing many of the existing trim pieces with either gloss carbon or red anodised aluminium.
