When the construction of the 136km-long RRTS corridor starts, certain surface road sections may need to be barricaded or diverted, narrowing the carriageway for the traffic. To minimise disruptions and ensure smooth traffic flow, road widening activities are carried out in advance as a pre-construction activity, said officials. This step helps reduce inconvenience to commuters and facilitates easier movement during the construction while translating into wider roads for commuters later.
"The scope of work includes all civil works related to widening and carpeting of the road, new road construction and repair. It also includes the construction of RCC drains and providing and laying RCC Hume pipes," said an official.
The tender document has specified in detail all the precautions and safety measures the contractor will have to ensure during the construction. The contractor will be responsible for ensuring strict adherence to all procedures as per the SHE manual.
About 100km of the RRTS corridor work is planned in Haryana while the other 36km traverses through Delhi. NCRTC has divided the entire 136km stretch into three sections and invited different bids for each section for speedy and efficient work. The first section is between Sarai Kale Khan and Alipur, the second between Alipur and before Samalkha, and the third section is between Samalkha and Karnal New ISBT.
When this Namo Bharat corridor is completed, passengers will be able to travel from Delhi to Karnal in Haryana in just 90 minutes, Kashmere Gate to Murthal in 30, Indraprastha to Sonipat in mere 35 minutes and Kashmere Gate to Panipat within an hour.

The proposed corridor will originate from Sarai Kale Khan in southeast Delhi and terminate at New ISBT in Karnal, with seven of the 18 stations in the national capital.
Besides Sarai Kale Khan, the other Delhi stations are Indraprastha, Kashmere Gate, Jharoda Kalan, Bhalswa Chowk, Alipur and Narela. Two depots, one each at Murthal and Ganjbar, have been planned to support operations.
The first Namo Bharat corridor, Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, is already partially operational. Of the 82km corridor, a 55km-long section is currently operational.

Delhi-Panipat-Karnal RRTS Corridor: The Delhi-Panipat-Karnal Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor is not yet a sanctioned project of the Government of India, the Centre clarified on Thursday (August 7). In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Tokhan Sahu, Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), said: 'The Delhi-Panipat-Karnal RRTS corridor is presently not a sanctioned project of Government of India.' The minister was responding to a query from Lok Sabha MP Satpal Brahamachari, who had asked whether the government had undertaken any consolidated assessment of the stalled or ongoing construction of the corridor through the Sonipat Lok Sabha constituency. He also sought information on whether the Delhi government had released its financial share of Rs 50 crore for the corridor, and whether any Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) had been signed for the project, along with their details. Responding to questions, Sahu added that the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) has released an amount of Rs 50 crore for pre-construction activities of the Delhi-Panipat-Karnal Namo Bharat RRTS corridor. 'A High-Powered Committee (HPC) is envisaged in Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) entered into between Central Government, concerned State Government and the SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle), for the sanctioned RRTS projects, for regular monitoring of transparency, land acquisition status and timelines thereof,' the Union Minister stated. The minister further said that National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is the implementing agency for RRTS corridors in the National Capital Region (NCR) and has submitted the proposal for Delhi-Karnal Namo Bharat RRTS corridor. 'Such proposals are cost intensive; therefore, these undergo intensive examination at different levels in Central Government. After such extensive examination, Central Government considers financial assistance to RRTS projects, based on feasibility of the proposal and availability of resources,' Sahu added. The Regional Rapid Transit Systems have design speed and operational speed potential of 180 Kmph and 160 Kmph, respectively. Govt launches amnesty scheme for minor mineral leaseholders
Jaipur: The state govt Wednesday launched an amnesty scheme for minor mineral leaseholders and contractors to recover dues and waive interest liabilities. Introduced as part of the 2025 Budget announcements, the scheme will remain in effect till Dec 31, 2025, and applies to principal and interest dues pending up to March 31, 2024. The scheme extends to a wide range of categories, including minor mineral leaseholders, quarry licence holders, royalty collection contract (RCC) and excess royalty collection contract (ERCC) holders, short-term permit (STP) defaulters and contractors associated with various construction departments. Principal secretary (Mines and Geology) T Ravikant said, "For the first time, the scheme includes concessions that are effective, expired, lapsed or surrendered such as mining leases, quarry licences, brick earth permits, and temporary working permissions for sand mining. In cases where mining was carried out in violation of approved mining plans, environmental clearance conditions, or consent to operate, or where concessions were cancelled through administrative orders, any penalty imposed for illegal dispatch of minerals up to March 31, 2024 will be waived upon payment of 20% of the principal amount. " Similarly, in case of pending District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) dues, full interest will be waived if the outstanding principal is paid. Relief for broken or expired leases, quarry licences, STPs and brick kiln permits is structured across historical slabs, with the percentage of principal payable gradually increasing for more recent dues.
