Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang
has revealed that he reviews the salaries of all 42,000 of his employees. In a recent AI-themed panel on the All-In podcast, Huang stated that this practice is a key part of his management strategy that has even helped the top executives of the US-based chip maker. The tech billionaire claimed that he finds time for this review process despite his busy schedule. He also noted that he uses machine learning and other tech to go through this process every month. In the podcast, when asked about speculations that he maintains a hidden reserve of stock options to reward top-performing employees, Huang said:
'I review everybody's compensation, up to this day, at the end of every cycle. They send me everybody's recommended comp. I go through the whole company. I sort through all 42,000 employees, and 100% of the time I increase the company's spend on opex.'
'If you take care of people, everything else takes care of itself,'
he explained.
It's a strategy that has worked well for the company's leadership as well. A recent surge in its stock price pushed three of Nvidia's board members into the billionaire club, and last fall, Huang made his debut on Forbes's list of the world's top 10 wealthiest individuals. He also claimed that he seeks to compensate all his workers handsomely.
In the podcast, Huang also mentioned:
'I've created more billionaires on my management team than any CEO in the world. They're doing just fine. Don't feel sad for anybody at my layer.'

he noted while giving examples of Microsoft-backed AI startup OpenAI, which initially started with around 150 employees, as well as China's DeepSeek, which also has a similar workforce.
'That's not a small team. That's a good-sized team with the right infrastructure… If you're willing to pay, say, $20 billion, $30 billion to buy a startup with 150 AI researchers, why wouldn't you pay one?'
Huang noted, highlighting the uniqueness that well-structured, mid-sized teams can bring to the table if they're given the right resources.

OpenAI's GPT-5 Met With Mixed Reviews, Confusion in First Day
(Bloomberg) -- For months, OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman has been hyping up the capabilities of GPT-5, setting up the launch as a seminal moment for the company. But in the first 24 hours after its release, the new model was met with mixed reviews. In its announcement Thursday, OpenAI said GPT-5 was better at coding and reasoning through complex problems, and touted it as advanced enough to turn chatbot ChatGPT into a Ph.D.-level expert. Some with early access praised the model, with caveats. 'It's my new favorite model,' developer Simon Willison wrote in a blog post, calling it 'competent' and 'occasionally impressive.' He added: 'It's not a dramatic departure from what we've had before.' On various social media platforms, however, ChatGPT users expressed frustration that GPT-5 continued to make up information and trip over simple math and spelling questions. Noah Giansiracusa, an associate professor of mathematics at Bentley University, said he felt the launch was 'underwhelming.' While there were 'some improvements,' he said, 'they were much more marginal than I would've hoped.' At least some of the reaction may come down to confusion over what's happening under the hood. Metro project remains stalled as follow-up meeting not held
T'puram: Two months after a high-level meeting chaired by CM Pinarayi Vijayan decided to form an expert committee to finalise the alignment of the proposed Thiruvananthapuram metro rail, state govt has shown little urgency in moving the project forward. The expert panel, which was supposed to study the technical and financial aspects of the project's alignment, has not even convened a follow-up meeting since the announcement, a delay that raised concerns about govt's commitment to the much-anticipated project. Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) managing director Loknath Behera told TOI that there has been no communication from state govt since the meeting. "We proposed seven alignments so far. Govt assured us that they would finalise one and inform us, but there has been no word since then," he said. The expert committee was expected to include secretaries from the revenue, finance, local self-govt and transport departments. Its mandate was to evaluate various alignment options proposed by KMRL and submit recommendations to govt to expedite the project. With the absence of coordination between state govt and KMRL, concerns are growing that the project, initially envisioned to ease the city's mounting traffic woes and boost urban mobility, will be indefinitely delayed. Meanwhile, when contacted, chief secretary A Jayathilak was unavailable for a comment despite repeated attempts. Urban planners and civic groups urged govt to act swiftly, warning that any further delay will push up costs and affect public confidence in state's infrastructure planning. Once the alignment is finalised, it will be handed to KMRL to revise the detailed project report (DPR) originally prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The DPR's executive summary was submitted to state govt in Feb 2024. Finance department approved the project earlier this year.
