Housefull 5 Day 4 India Box Office: Akshay Kumar led cruise-comedy holds its fortress on working Monday; Nets Rs 11.50 crore
Housefull 5 led by Akshay Kumar and co-starring Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez and others held well on working Monday in India, netting Rs 11-12 crore. After a good weekend of Rs 79.25 crore, the 4 day total of Housefull 5 stands at Rs 90.75 crore. The film is likely to cross Rs 100 crore net, late on day 5 or early on day 6.
Housefull 5 looks to continue the success streak of the Housefull franchise. Whether it also continues the hit streak is to be seen. To be in contention to be a hit, the movie needs to hold even stronger over the next couple of weeks and that won't be easy.
Regardless, Akshay Kumar 's brute force at the box office was visible for the first time since Sooryavanshi. After the release of Sooryavanshi, Akshay Kumar perhaps witnessed his worst theatrical phase, where even the high on content films didn't get desired box office rewards. It is hoped that his strong initial pull is seen in the months to follow, in exciting upcoming movies like Jolly LLB 3, Welcome To The Jungle and more.
The Day Wise Net India Box Office Collections Of Housefull 5 Are As Under
Housefull 5 is among the better performing Akshay Kumar movies internationally. After becoming his biggest weekend opener, the movie looks to end up doing roughly USD 7.5-8 million (Rs 65 to 70 crore gross). This sets the stage well for the movie to hit Rs 300 crore worldwide in the full run.
The movie needs to gross atleast Rs 325 crore worldwide to be considered as a film that can be accredited as a hit. We have arrived to a number in the Rs 325-350 crore vicinity given the film's heavy budget and the fact that it is a film from the very successful Housefull franchise.
Housefull 5 plays in theatres now. Have you watched the madcap comedy? If yes, which version of the movie did you watch? A or B?
Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on the killer-comedy.

Housefull 5 Director Reacts To His Film Being Called 'Sexist': 'Plot Is Driven By Women'
Last Updated: Director Tarun Mansukhani hits back at trolls and call Housefull 5 a film 'driven by women'. He adds that those calling it 'sexist' are choosing to view the film from that lens. Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull 5 maybe breaking all box office records but it's not sitting well with a certain section of audiences. Many took to social media to slam the film for its portrayal of women and objectifying them. Soundarya Sharma, particularly, has been at the receiving end of incessant trolling for choosing to do a film that's all about 'skin show' and makes her look like an 'eye candy'. Others criticised the makers for its dialogues laden with sexual innuendos, vulgarity, thus comparing to adult comedy films like Grand Masti. But director Tarun Mansukhani remains unfazed. Speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, he says that he's choosing to look at the silver lining. 'I feel like that there's a lot of scrutiny on social media. I also believe that scrutiny tends to only happen on successful films. You tend to keep quiet if a film isn't working at all. That's when no one has any opinion and they don't say anything. So, when people are making noise about my film, I actually feel very happy about it," he opines. Tarun hits back at detractors and says that people who're expressing dissent are deliberately choosing to focus on objectification. 'It means that they're watching it with a certain eye and sensibility. You can scrutinise it. That's fine. You've paid money to watch it and so, you get to have an opinion on my film. It's not a placid film about which you don't care or have an opinion. For those who're calling it out, I want to say that it's your choice of seeing and focusing on that aspect of the film," he remarks. Defending the women in the film, he states, 'Akshay decides to play Jolly and he comes to know that there's a missing son. So, he hires the character of Nargis (Fakhri) and asks him to join him on this search. One thing leads to another and they decide to backstab together. It's Sonam (Bajwa) who backstabs Riteish (Deshmukh) and helps further the plot, that in turn helps bring a third Jolly. The actual plot is driven by women – to get the money. There's a Soundarya who's equal parts a suspect in this entire thing because she's busy transferring funds into an offshore account." As for the men in the film, Tarun refers to them as 'flawed characters'. 'They aren't placid characters. In a murder mystery, nobody is a good person. Everyone is a bad person and that's what the endeavour was because they're all suspects and if they ethically or morally bad enough to commit murder, is the question. One may choose to see a sexist side to it but I feel that I've done a lot more. If people haven't seen the film, how will the plot details transfer to them? And when they see it, it's the audience's choice to focus on whichever aspect they want to," he points out. First Published:

Housefull 5 Director Tarun On Laal Pari Plagiarism Claim: ‘No Intention To Steal'
Last Updated: Director Tarun Mansukhani says had he known Sandip Brahamin is the creator of the hat step in Housefull 5's Laal Pari, he would've brought him in to choreograph the song. Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh starrer Housefull 5 maybe causing ripples at the box office but it's courting a controversy on grounds of plagiarism. A digital content creator and dancer named Sandip Brahamin has accused the makers of copying his 'signature hat move' in the song video of Laal Pari. In a reel, Sandip stated, 'I went to Instagram and YouTube and there is a movie called Housefull 5. It has a song called Laal Pari. They have copied my moves but they haven't mentioned my name, they haven't credited me (sic)." Reacting to his statements, Housefull 5 director Tarun Mansukhani exclusively tells News18 Showsha, 'I did read up something about that. To be honest, I hadn't seen his videos before. I had only gotten to know it after we had launched the song. I came to know that the step that we've in the song is the hook step that he's known for. I'm sure somebody must have seen it at some point somewhere and felt that it's a great step to do and we did it." For the unversed, Remo D'Souza has choreographed Laal Pari. Tarun says that had he known about Sandip, he would've brought him in to choreograph Akshay, Abhishek, Riteish, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez and Sonam Bajwa. 'There was no intention to harm anyone or steal anything. Life isn't that conniving. If I had known this guy before, I would've brought him in to choreograph the song for my actors. Who would be a better choreographer of Laal Pari than the creator himself? It's as simple as that," he remarks. 'There was no intention to engage in any kind of plagiarism. It's just one of those things that ended up happening. We've very sorry if he feels like that. I want to reiterate that there was no intention of causing any harm of any form," he further adds. While Sandip had posted his reel on May 3, his video went viral on social media after Housefull 5 released in theatres on June 5. Meanwhile, Housefull 5 has entered the Rs 100 crore club, and its golden run continues. Talking about it, an excited Tarun tells us, 'It feels fantastic because I came back to the theatres after 17 years. My last theatrical film was in 2008 [Dostana]. Right now, we're at a Rs 178 crore gross worldwide." He admits that this feat feels even more 'special' especially since it comes at a time when the box office is going through a dry spell. 'I've sat and worked on this film for the last two years and now it has been accepted. More than being happy, we're grateful. We're thankful to someone who's watching from above. There's a certain amount of relief that it's done, it's out there and it's being appreciated. We're thrilled with the positive comments that people who've enjoyed the film have written for us, for the messages, for the calls and for the numbers the film is making," Tarun shares.
