City of Oviedo officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the reopening of McKinnon Avenue and rebuilding McKinnon ditch in the Alafaya Woods subdivision.
After extensive repairs following damage from Hurricane Ian in 2022, the city excitedly announced this amazing re-opening and reveal. McKinnon Avenue is a major road in Alafaya Woods, the Oviedo area.

Creek debris removal aims to improve stormwater management in Winter Springs
Starting Tuesday, crews with Winter Springs will start removing debris from five creeks throughout the city. The project aim to help improve stormwater flow throughout the city. This is thanks in part to a grant from the Natural Resources Conservation Services. Under that grant, the Natural Resources Conservation Services will provide up to 100% of the total cost as part of city's Hurricane Milton recovery efforts. The project will start at Sheoah Creek, followed by Gee, No Name, Little Howell and Bear creeks. The project is expected to take several weeks to complete. Rain chances fade as Father's Day approaches
We've seen lower coverage of rain and storms across the area, and storm chances will be reduced to start Father's Day weekend. The scattered showers and storms will fade away Friday evening, with quiet conditions overnight. Morning lows will be in the mid-70s. Scattered showers and storms will again develop on Saturday, with the best chance in the afternoon and evening hours. Coverage is expected to be similar to Friday, with highs in the mid-90s. Even more dry air is expected for Father's Day. Expect just widely scattered showers and storms for Sunday, with temperatures in the low 90s. The somewhat drier air will remain in place to start next week. Monday will feature scattered PM showers and storms and highs in the low 90s. Just a few isolated storms are anticipated for the middle of next week, with highs in the mid-90s.
