Lorraine star says 'I was really lucky' as they issues health update

Daily Record3 days ago
Lorraine Kelly is currently taking a break from hosting her ITV show Lorraine, with Christine Lampard stepping in to present the programme.
On Monday morning, ITV audiences witnessed presenter Christine Lampard, who is presently standing in for Lorraine Kelly, welcoming back a beloved figure to the programme.

As the show began, the 46-year-old made her way over to chat with Dr Hilary, who recently revealed his experiences of working alongside Lorraine, whilst she quipped that she felt she ought to be applauding his return.

She remarked: "Dr Hilary is back in the studio, it's so lovely to see you because you've been off, you've had a little op."

Dr Hilary revealed that five weeks prior, he had undergone a hip replacement, though he emphasised how wonderful it was to be reunited with his 'extended family' on the ITV programme, reports the Express.
Whilst Christine observed how fantastic he appeared, he responded, "I'm feeling great! It's such a good operation, and I think people tend to leave it too long.

"They're in a lot of pain for a long time with limited mobility, which means that their muscles become weaker. So, rehabilitation takes longer. I was really lucky to have this done on the NHS. Wonderful treatment."
Dr Hilary informed Christine that he received a spinal anaesthetic, meaning he remained semi-conscious throughout the operation, which lasted approximately an hour and a half.

He went on: "I was up that evening, was doing stairs the next day and then home the next day.
"I did my rehab like a good patient, like a good doctor should be, and I'm all singing and all dancing again."

When asked about his current condition five weeks on, Dr Hilary confirmed he was thriving.
He continued: "Great! It's very important to do your physiotherapy afterwards, but I was fairly fit before. I just had some discomfort in the joints, and I've done a lot of activity over the years, so they were worn out."
Dr Hilary revealed that he is currently taking it easy at the gym but anticipates returning to his regular activities shortly.
Viewers can catch Lorraine on ITVX.

Richard Osman reveals why Destination X has 'missed the mark' after viewer complaints

Richard Osman has shared his opinion on new BBC show Destination X, comparing it to hit shows The Traitors and Race Across The World during Sky podcast The Rest Is Entertainment BBC show Destination X has had viewers hooked to their seats – but Richard Osman isn't so keen as he claims the show has "missed the mark". ‌ The show, which kicked off last week, showcases 13 strangers hoping to win £100,000 by correctly guessing where in the world they've been plonked. Hosted by Rob Brydon, the adventurous cast head off to a different location every episode and must try and work out where in the world they are with a series of clues. ‌ However, unlike a number of other shows, the audience are left in the lurch too and are encouraged to play along at home. But Richard says the show has 'missed the mark' with that detail, as he said the show was trying to embody both The Traitors and Race Across The World – with little success. It comes after Gary Lineker 'signs a huge deal with ITV to host new show' after BBC exit. ‌ Last night, viewers viewers found themselves 'getting annoyed' by the sheer lack of knowledge that the contestants seemed to possess, as they attempt to guess their location. Talking about the show on Sky podcast, The Rest Is Entertainment, with Marina Hyde, the former The One Show star said: "Everyone wants it to be something it isn't. That idea that you're in a blacked out coach and you have to work out where you are, it's kind of neat." Comparing it to Claudia Winkleman 's hit show The Traitors, and Race Across The World, Richard continued: "It's not like The Traitors where they tell you who the Traitors are. "You don't know where you are so you're trying to look for clues. It's got a bit of 'Oh you've got alliances' like the Traitors. And it's got incredible scenery like Race Across The World." ‌ Richard then explained: "That if you're the BBC, you're saying that the show you would like is something that has the tension of the Traitors and and the beauty of Race Across The World," however, Richard thinks this may not have worked. "TwoFour, when they have to actually make the thing they're like... 'Well the alliance thing doesn't really work, we have to slightly make that work in the format.' With The Traitors, it's all you've got, and then this, you have to force it." Richard also claimed the scenery of the show "doesn't really work," as due to the fact viewers are playing along at home, a lot of the location can't be shown. ‌ Concluding, Richard claimed that although the show was trying to have "the beauty of Race Across The World" and the "tension of The Traitors," it's essentially missed the mark on both. Richard wasn't alone in his opinions, as many viewers took to the comments to agree. "Problem is there's no appreciation for social strategy type games in the UK. It's why we're stuck with shows with public votes, whilst these types of shows thrive in America," penned one. ‌ Another said: "I just wanted it to be people driven to a mystery place, let out and use their wits on challenges to do with local customs to guess where they were standing!" Meanwhile, some viewers of the show are also venting their frustration on social media. One viewer took to X to say: "Getting annoyed with #DestinationX - the lack of knowledge is appalling!" Another said: "I assume it's deliberate in this show that they picked contestants who know absolutely nothing about European languages or Geography, but it's still very frustrating to watch." And a third joked: "We have some exceptionally clever people in this country. We win bucketloads of Nobel prizes, we invented nearly everything worthwhile, we have an elite of world class minds but most of our citizens are thick as pig s***."

Emmerdale fans confused as star's exit on ITV show sealed

On Wednesday night, Ross Barton and Steph Miligan split up after only recently getting back together. Steph has been in a bad place over the last few weeks, thanks to a discovery about her parentage and the secret murder of Anthony Fox. However, things have only gotten worse after she learned about Ross's fling with GP Manpreet Sharma. Despite things going well, it only took a conversation between Steph's mother, Ruby Miligan and Manpeet for things to come crashing down. Searching for details about Manpreet's life, nosy characters Ruby and Lewis Barton discovered that he had a one-night stand with Ross. The pair were mortified by the admission, while Ross attempted to defend himself by claiming it "meant nothing". Manpreet then took offence to this statement, and Steph told Ross that it was all over for them. According to the Mirror, Steph actress Georgia Jay has already confirmed that she will be exiting the show for maternity leave, but the exact details of her break are yet to be officially revealed. In the meantime, Emmerdale fans were left confused by Manpreet's decision to share the details of this one-night stand with Ruby. One viewer said on the ITV show's official Reddit page: "Why would Manpreet mention that in front of Steph's mum and Ross's brother? Wonder what she finds out next that causes her to leave? Temporary, just due to maternity leave?" Another said: "Wow, I didn't expect Ruby to find out today and tell Steph. I guess that explains why Ross will kiss/sleep with Manpreet again this week. "The lie was probably so they would have a reason to break up again. I wonder if Steph will leave tmw." A third added: "I hope they are not going to use that as the big secret/reason why Steph leaves. I get that she didn't want to be lied to and she doesn't feel like she can trust Ross, but it's Ross… girl he ain't worth it. "Kidding aside, I know the actress is set to leave (for a while) but this would be a poor reason to use for why, imo." A fourth person penned: "Really don't understand why Manpreet would share she had a one-night stand with Ross to Ruby of all ppl. "I also don't see why it's such a big deal to Steph. She dumped him and he had a one-night stand."

A brutal first challenge saw one pair eliminated before reaching the hotel. But who has left the show so far? The doors to the Fortune Hotel have barely swung open and already there has been one check-out. ITV's hit game show returned for its second season last night (August 6) and it was a dramatic start. Steven Mangan is back on hosting duties and he welcomed 11 pairs of players to the Caribbean for the chance of winning a life-changing £250,000. However before they had even stepped into the hotel, one team was told to pack up and sent back to the airport. It is hosted by comedian Ellie Taylor. But who is still staying at The Fortune Hotel? Here's all you need to know: Who has left The Fortune Hotel so far? ITV / Tuesdays Child The show slightly expanded its initial cast to 11 pairs for the second season; however, there was a twist. Unlike the first series, not every team actually got to step into The Fortune Hotel itself. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Before they could even check-in there was a first challenge, it was a race to the hotel, and only the first five pairs to arrive would be guaranteed to check-in. Players had to run to speed-boats and then solve a crossword puzzle as part of the task. Six pairs were at risk, but unfortunately for best friends Chelsey and Briony they picked the suitcase with the early check-out card, meaning they were eliminated first. However, the show was not yet done, it still had the customary trip to The Night Cap with another elimination on the cards. The Fortune Hotel is back for series 2 | ITV / Tuesdays Child Retired life partners Fred and Min were passed the early check-out card before heading to The Night Cap - and also had to make the first suitcase swap of the evening. They passed the cursed suitcase to Nella and Tope. After plenty more swapping, including a strange bit of 4D chess involving the fortune holders Jake and Mike giving it to Fred and Min, the episode ended on a cliffhanger. Nell and Tope were about to announce their swap, likely dooming another pair to an early check-out, but before they could reveal the decision the episode ended. The game show airs episodes on Wednesday and Thursday nights. How many players are left in The Fortune Hotel? Due to the cliff-hanger, the first episode ended with 10 pairs of players still left in the game.
