Seth Rogen says his audition for 'Gigli' "would end" his career today
Actor and comedian Seth Rogen recalled the last time he auditioned for a role in 'Gigli' that would have ended his career.
Actor and comedian
Seth Rogen
recalled the last time he auditioned for a role in 'Gigli' that would have ended his career.
'Gigli' is a 2003 American romantic comedy crime film written, co-produced, and directed by Martin Brest, and starring
Ben Affleck
,
Jennifer Lopez
,
Justin Bartha
, Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Lainie Kazan.
Seth Rogen opened up about his audition for 2003's Gigli and why he's glad the tape of his work is seemingly gone. Rogen auditioned for the role of a "boy with a cognitive disability" in the Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez film. The part ultimately went to Justin Bartha and the film became a notorious critical and commercial flop, reported People.
He appeared on the recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and shared, "It has been a long time," adding, "And man, honestly thank God it was mostly physical VHS tapes and stuff like that that was being used when I was auditioning for things, because the things I auditioned for, in retrospect, if they were out there in the world, it would end my career very, very fast, I believe," reported People.
"Well, there's a movie called Gigli ... that stars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez and in the film, they're assassins or something like that," he said.
The 2003 romantic crime drama was a notorious critical and commercial flop.
"In Gigli, they're assassins who are sent to watch over a boy who -- and this was not the words they used at the time - but had a cognitive disability, let's say," Rogen continued. "And so I, as an aspiring young actor ...
I auditioned for this boy with a cognitive disability and I don't think the script was written in what, by today's standards, would be the most sensitive portrayal of a boy with a cognitive disability," reported People.
Rogen, who at the time had starred in the TV series Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, also said that he "didn't get a lot of auditions," and he knew the movie was being helmed by "great director," Martin Brest, who had done Beverly Hills Cop and and Midnight Run.
"I don't think I wore a helmet into the audition itself, but it was at play," Rogen said. "And I'm tempted to do an impression of what I did, but I can't even do it! I can't! That's how bad it was! It's so bad I dare not even portray what I did in this audition, because I went for it. I saw myself at the Oscars."
"And truthfully if that tape was out in the world today, this would be the last interview you ever saw me do, other than my apology tour," he said.
The role Rogen auditioned for, Brian, was ultimately played by Justin Bartha. The A.V. Club wrote in a 2021 article in which they revisited Gigli, "Pretty much everything about the depiction of Brian's disability falls into the 'oh no' category," reported People.

Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom end their nine year relationship
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have called off their relationship. A source confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple, who got engaged in 2019, have decided to part ways. TMZ was the first to report the news. Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, first met in 2016 at a Golden Globes afterparty -- over a shared love for In-N-Out burgers. According to People, Katy, while recalling the moment during an episode of American Idol, said, 'I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out. We were at the Golden Globes, and we weren't together.' 'So I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs, and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend's hand, he wasn't even sitting at our table. he just swoops in and grabs it. I was like, 'Hey, that's my burger!'.' Later that year, the couple went public with their romance after attending the Cannes Film Festival and sharing their first photo on Instagram. However, their relationship has had its ups and downs. In February 2017, the couple announced they had broken up but stayed on good terms during an appearance on Call Her Daddy. 'We're friends, it's good,' Bloom said of his split with Perry in April 2017. 'We're all grown up. She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don't think anybody cares about what I'm up to. Nor should they. It's between us. It's better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don't have to be about hate.' A source told PEOPLE back then, 'They are not girlfriend and boyfriend. They do seem very happy together, though. Orlando always had the nicest things to say about Katy. He loves spending time with her.' Later that year, they made their red carpet debut at the Gala for the Global Ocean in Monaco.

Warner Bros. Furious As F1 Gets Fewer Screens Than Sitaare Zameen Par
Last Updated: Warner Bros. has sent a warning to the Indian multiplex chain, demanding fair screen allocations for F1 and its upcoming releases. Things are heating up between Warner Bros. and PVR Inox, India's largest multiplex chain and also a leading distributor, over the number of shows for F1 The Movie. The American studio has accused the multiplex chain of favouring Bollywood movies over Hollywood ones. With Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par running successfully in theatres since June 20, and Kajol's mythological horror film, Maa, set to hit theatres on June 27, the sports drama F1 is struggling to secure a sufficient number of shows in Indian theatres. F1 The Movie is one of the highly anticipated films of 2025. Starring Brad Pitt as the lead, it is a high-octane racing drama that has already impressed critics and fans alike. Set to be released on June 27, it currently has an over 90 per cent critic score. Despite all the buzz, F1 is struggling to secure enough screens and prime-time slots, which PVR Inox has given to Sitaare Zameen Par. According to reports, Warner Bros. has sent a warning to the Indian multiplex chain, demanding fair screen allocations for F1 and its upcoming releases. They have also threatened to pull out films from the chain if they fail to do so. A source told Bollywood Hungama, 'Warner felt that they were getting unfair treatment. They also got a sense that PVR Inox was giving them a raw deal and giving preference to Sitaare Zameen Par and Maa, films which are distributed by PVR Inox Pictures." Warner Bros. is trying to get more screens for Brad Pitt's sports drama by using its upcoming, much-awaited films like Jurassic World Rebirth and Superman as bait. The American studio has reportedly warned PVR Inox that if it does not allocate the required shows for F1, it will skip the multiplex chain completely for its new releases. But things are easier said than done. Because PVR Inox is the leading multiplex chain in India, Warner Bros. cannot afford to skip it altogether. This isn't the first time that screen allocation has caused a stir. PVR Inox often prefers big, star-driven Indian films over Hollywood ones, despite the buzz surrounding those. With numerous highly anticipated releases on June 27 and in the following weeks, a few films are likely to receive fewer screens. From PVR Inox's point of view, Sitaare Zameen Par is generating good revenue, so it made sense to allocate more screens to it. However, if F1 manages to draw a crowd, the chain will likely add more prime-time slots. For now, negotiations are ongoing, with no resolution announced yet. First Published:

Our pick of Bengaluru's best burgers, from artisanal buns and smash patties to gourmet ingredients
When we think of fast food, burgers are the first thing that comes to mind. Over the years, this classic has evolved with new flavours, textures, and techniques. Today, Bengaluru's diners are redefining burgers by borrowing international methods, using premium ingredients, and focusing on the overall experience. Despite their gourmet makeover, these burgers still deliver the comfort we crave. Here are five spots that are smashing good burgers in town. Guerilla Diner Walking into this 12-seater, diner felt like stepping into a retro burger joint straight out of a movie or a comic book. It is helmed by chef Tushar Sood, who boasts 13 years of experience in the industry and has worked at spots like Toast & Tonic, Lupa, and Indian Accent. This newly opened diner is his tribute to junk food, 'I grew up eating it,' Sood says. 'So when I finally opened my own place, I knew it had to be all about that.' I try the Sichuan fried chicken sandwich which was crisp, spicy and generously drizzled with sichuan chilli oil. 'This burger is a tribute to New York's Pecking House as we are following their recipe' he says. The crowd favouites are the smash burgers, The purist and Oklahoma. 'I want to explore more American classics that we mostly see on TV,' says Sood. Alongside burgers, their birria tacos are not to be missed, especially lamb and shroom. Burgers starting at ₹220. At Halasuru. For more details call, 9313362565 Beyondburg Inc Started in 2017 as a humble four-seater restaurant in Bengaluru, Beyondburg Inc now has outlets in Calicut and Cochin. Muhammed Anas, Ajmal Jaseem, and Muhammed Nishaph met through a mutual friend over their shared love for food, and the idea was born. 'Back then, no one was doing proper smash burgers. Smash burgers have an elevated taste because of smashing patties which creates smoky flavours and crusty edges,' says Anas. Their philosophy is simple, a burger should be classic, just meat, cheese, and a little dressing. They list calories and protein content, catering to health-conscious customers. Meat and vegetables are sourced with precision, preferring organic produce. I savour the Nashville fried chicken burger which has soft buns and a juicy patty. The red quinoa burger, their only vegetarian option for now, intrigues me. The burgers are wholesome and not greasy or messy. 'We are working on more vegetarian options which are something different and innovative, not basic.' adds Anas. Besides burgers, they serve wings, tenders, hot dogs, bagels, and milkshakes. Burgers starting at: ₹369. At St. Marks Road. For more details, 9072964242 Good Flippin' Burgers Established by Sijo Mathew, Sid Marchant, and Viren D'Siva in 2019 from a small cloud kitchen in Khar, Mumbai, Good Flippin' Burgers was built on a simple belief that great burgers do not need unnecessary frills. 'Our goal was never to take shortcuts, just to serve good flippin' burgers.' says D'Siva. I try the Cluckinator, their signature fried chicken burger. It features chicken with honey mustard mayo between soft buns, a classic crowd favourite. The Cheese Bomb lives up to its name, at first bite you feel the explosion of cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Another standout is the hot smash, featuring two smashed buffalo patties with hot garlic aioli. Alongside burgers they offer tenders, wings, wraps, milkshakes, in house flippinade sodas and beers too. They recently started hosting burger raves, with DJs, live burger grilling, and an energetic vibe brings people together. 'The idea was to combine two things people love, great burgers and high energy. A space where people can let loose and celebrate.' says D'Siva Burgers starting at: ₹245. At Church Street, HSR layout and RMZ Ecoworld . For more details call, 18002023312 Basco And Fry Basco and Fry was founded in 2021 with plans to launch as a dine-in restaurant. 'We have a huge pantry filled with different hot sauces, and we thought, why not create dishes using them?' says Ritika. They began with chicken wings in a variety of sauces, which eventually evolved into burgers. 'Basco is a colloquial term for hot sauce in the US, and 'Fry' represents our wings and burgers,' she adds. I am amazed by their Nashville hot chicken which is loaded, and well-rounded with house slaw, gherkins, and homemade ranch. Another must-try is the smashed double cheeseburger, featuring a smashed tenderloin patty, cheddar, cocktail sauce, and dijon mustard. Beyond burgers, they offer wings and a range of appetizers. Burgers starting at: ₹315. At Indiranagar. For more details, call 7411782411 Smash Guys Abhijit Gupta and Nikhil Gupta, co-founders of The Pizza Bakery and Paris Panini, are now on a mission to build a ₹100 crore burger brand in 100 days. I taste the oyster mushroom karaage burger, which has crispy mushrooms, togarashi flakes, and truffle aioli, and is a standout vegetarian pick. I am also impressed with the Nashville fried chicken burger that delivers crunch, spice, and balance with garlic aioli and pickles. Among the smash burgers, the chilli cheese lamb which has double smash patties is excellent, while the 8-hour braised brisket burger is equally good. 'We sear the brisket and slow-cook it for eight hours to lock in flavours,' says Abhijit. 'Our goal is to elevate the burger experience.' Burgers starting at: ₹320. At Indiranagar.
