Meanwhile, this week, Swift aimed a not so subtle dig at male NFL fans when appearing on Kelce's podcast, New Heights. 'As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast, and I think we all know that if there's one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it's more of me,' she said tongue in cheek. Swift was awkwardly jeered in February when she rocked up to Caesars Superdome to cheer on Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs. The pop sensation was met with boos from large parts of the 66,000-strong crowd when she appeared on the jumbotron for the first time during the Super Bowl, which the Chiefs ultimately lost in humiliating fashion to the Philadelphia Eagles. With the stadium seemingly boasting more Eagles fans than members of Chiefs Kingdom, Swift did not get a nice reception when cameras zoomed in on her before the carnage unfolded. The former England striker hosted the iconic highlights show for 26 years, but announced last year that he would be stepping away from the role at the end of the 2024/25 season. He had been scheduled to continue presenting the BBC's live FA Cup broadcasts, and front coverage of next year's FIFA World Cup, but he has now left the broadcaster for good after sparking outrage. Lineker came under fire after sharing a social media post on Zionism which featured a rat, which has historically been used as an anti-semitic insult in reference to language used by Nazi Germany towards Jewish people. While he removed the post and issued a public apology, it was later confirmed that he would leave the BBC early, signing off from the corporation on the final day of last season. When his departure was first announced, it was confirmed that a three-presenter team of Gabby Logan, Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates would take up hosting duties, and it is Chapman that is set to kick off proceedings on the first day of the 2025/26 campaign. The 51-year-old has become one of the most recognisable and well-liked faces in sports broadcasting over the years, having also fronted coverage of rugby league, the NFL and the Olympics alongside a host of football tournaments. But while Chapman is at the top of his game, his professional achievements have come against the backdrop of a brutally difficult period in his personal life, with the presenter tragically losing his wife Sara to cancer five years ago. Article continues below The couple got married in 2001 and went on to have three children together, with Sara fighting the disease for many years before sadly passing away in June 2020 at the age of just 44. At the time, a source told The Sun: 'Sadly Sara passed away on June 3. Mark and the kids are absolutely devastated. "The family was there and it's just a really sad situation. They're an extremely private family and would appreciate people respecting that.' Terry McLaurin off PUP list, can practice with Commanders
August 16 - The Washington Commanders removed disgruntled wide receiver Terry McLaurin from the physically unable to perform list early Saturday. And while the two sides have yet to agree to a contract extension, the transaction means McLaurin can return to practice and start preparing for the season. Multiple outlets reported Saturday that there was no sign of movement on a deal. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury said Friday that time was running short before the season for McLaurin to start getting reps on the field. The Commanders open the season at home Sept. 7 against the New York Giants, their NFC East rival. McLaurin, who turns 30 in September, was put on the PUP list when he reported to camp on July 27, with the team citing an ankle injury. He missed the start of camp and was fined $50,000 per day and $200,000 in total, as allowed by the collective bargaining agreement. He is seeking an extension as he enters the final season of a three-year, $68.4 million deal. His average annual salary of $22.8 million ranks 17th among receivers. Cincinnati's Ja'Marr Chase is No. 1, earning an average of $40.2 million, per Spotrac. "On the business side, (Commanders general manager Adam Peters) and his side are still working very hard with Terry and his reps on the business side of things," head coach Dan Quinn said when McLaurin reported. "While on PUP he'll be working with the trainers." Washington selected McLaurin, a product of Ohio State, in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl twice and was named a second team All-Pro in 2024. McLaurin is coming off a big year, amassing 82 catches for 1,096 yards and a career-high 13 receiving touchdowns in 17 games. It was his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season. --Field Level Media
