Leighton Meester wants to return to music
Leighton Meester plans to return to music. The 38-year-old star has focused her attention on her acting career in recent years, appearing in movies such as 'The Weekend Away' and 'EXmas' - but Leighton intends to return to her music roots in the future. The brunette beauty - who released her debut album, 'Heartstrings', back in 2014 - told E! News: "It's definitely something that I want to continue to do and I really enjoy doing, but I've been focusing a lot more on acting and my family and everything for the last handful of years." Leighton now intends to turn her focus towards making new music in the coming months. The 'Somebody to Love' hitmaker shared: "I'm always writing and I've done a little bit of recording. "I'd like to focus a little bit more on it in the next year or so. I had so much fun when I did it. Touring was really fun. Just every little piece of it is its own little adventure and I really enjoy it and I love having this piece of work out - even when I hear it now - 20-something me wrote it and it sort of morphs and changes meaning." Leighton previously revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic derailed her plans to release new music. Asked if she planned to return to music, Leighton told Cosmopolitan in 2022: "The short answer is yes. Hopefully soon. "I have a bunch of stuff written and recorded and ready to go. It's just a matter of when I can release it and when I can make time for that. "I had it ready and set to go, and then pandemic … And I've had another child. So I thought, 'This isn't the right timing.' So I think that the timing will probably happen this year, hopefully."

Why Eminem Is Suing Meta for $109 Million
Originally appeared on E! Online is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with a social media giant. The 'Love the Way You Lie' rapper's publishing company Eight Mile Style filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms—which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp—accusing the tech company of copyright infringement and seeking over $109 million in damages, according to court documents filed May 30 and obtained by E! News June 3. In the filing, Eminem (real name Marshall Mathers) alleges that Meta violated the copyright of 243 songs from his catalog through the 'unauthorized storage, reproduction and exploitation' of the tracks on their platforms. The lawsuit cites the apps' features, including Original Audio and Reels, as tools that 'allow and encourage its users to steal' his music to use in video content 'without proper attribution or license.' As a result, the Grammy winner is seeking monetary damages for 'the diminished value of the copyrights by Defendants' theft of them, lost profits, and Defendants' profits attributable to the infringement.' Alternatively, he asked for the maximum statutory damages, requesting $150,000 for each of the songs in question across all three of Meta's platforms, totaling a whopping $109,350,000. Former Grass Valley tech building to transform into music, art, and culture hub
( — Nevada County is home to a few dedicated theaters, with the Nevada Theater, minutes away from the tech company Grass Valley, being the oldest theater west of the Mississippi. Now, there are new plans to turn Grass Valley into a central destination for music and the arts. The former tech company's owner tried to sell it during the COVID-19 pandemic, but no buyer was in sight, until InConcert Sierra purchased it at a bargain price of about $2.3 million. The purchase kicked off the construction of Crown Point Venues, but it wasn't all seamless at first. Within 36 hours of In-Concert Sierra purchasing the building, Mother Nature had other plans. 'We signed the papers on March 3, 2023, closing the deal, and sometime that weekend, within about 36 hours, right where we're standing, the roof of the building collapsed,' Artistic Director of In-Concert Sierra, Ken Hardin, said. A powerful storm rolled in, dumping several feet of snow that the grass valley community hadn't seen in years, which caused sections of the building's roof to collapse. 'It wound up being just Mother Nature saying, let's get this project started, because we were going to raise the roof here anyway,' Hardin added. Driven by resilience, Hardin and his team sprang into action, giving the building a fresh start that is projected to cost $20 million. 'InConcert Sierra is primarily a concert presenting organization. We don't build buildings. We don't operate buildings. So, we've had a huge learning curve,' Hardin said. 'We have a wonderful board of directors that's been very involved in shepherding the project.' Crown Point Venues is set to house three venues all under one roof. From a conference center with enough seating for at least 400 people. '4,400 square feet, which will be available for galas, fundraisers, banquets, and also for corporate trainings, government meetings, any kind of public assembly that people want to have,' said Hardin. '…and that'll really be the economic driver of the building, that space will support the building economically.' To a black box theater designed with flexible seating options to suit just about every type of performance. 'This wall surface doesn't touch this wall surface anywhere, so sound can't travel, vibration can't travel through, and sound can't right, so we don't bleed into another venue,' Hardin said. And the crown jewel of them all, an acoustic concert hall. 'Basically, means that the performer performs without amplification, and the audience experience is that whatever they do on stage sounds the same anywhere in the room, anywhere you are in the room without amplification,' Hardin explained. Hardin said the concert hall is aimed at attracting world-class talent. 'And personally, as a musician, this kind of space is exactly the kind of space that musicians dream of performing in, a beautiful acoustic, a large stage,' Hardin said. 'We could have easily 700 people in this room with performers on the stage, an orchestra, and an audience of 540.' Roughly $15 million of the $20 million has already been raised, and they're working to raise the remaining amount with an anticipated opening in 2026. Any music enthusiast looking to get involved can visit the project's website to sign up for their fundraising event, which includes a behind-the-scenes tour of their transformation. Sean 'Diddy' Combs Trial: Supporter Escorted Out for Outburst
Originally appeared on E! Online Order was briefly absent from the courtroom. As Sean 'Diddy' Combs sat alongside his defense team during his sex trafficking trial in New York June 3, a supporter was removed by law enforcement after a shocking disruption in the main courtroom, according to NBC News reporters in the room. "Everyone is laughing at Diddy," the woman—who has previously viewed the proceedings from the overflow room, according to the outlet—shouted. 'It's not right what they're doing to him!" She appeared to yell at the Combs, 'People are trying to do you wrong.' After the woman exited the courtroom, the former security supervisor at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles Eddy Garcia took the stand in connection with Combs' assault on ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at the hotel in 2016. Garcia—who testified under an immunity order, per NBC News—accused the Bad Boy Records founder of paying the hotel security with a brown paper bag of $100,000 in exchange for the footage of the attack, which was subsequently released by CNN last May. 'He kept repeating that I sounded like a good guy and he said I could help with the video footage,' he testified. 'He said it would ruin his career. I apologized and told him I was only a security officer and didn't have access. I did not have the credentials to get to the server room where the original footage was.' Garcia alleged that after telling his then-boss that Combs had offered to pay for the footage, his employer went into the server room and handed him a USB drive. After Garcia allegedly dropped off the memory card to the Diddy – Dirty Money alum, he said he signed an NDA with a $1 million penalty. Afterward, Garcia said that Combs—who has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, as well as transportation to engage in prostitution—had given him $100,000 to split between himself and two other hotel employees. 'We walked to my vehicle and he asked me how I was going to spend the money,' he testified. 'I said I didn't know and he said, 'Don't make big purchases.' I thought it meant he didn't want to draw attention.' For more live updates from Combs' trial, keep reading. (E! News and NBC News are part of the NBCUniversal family.)
