
Probe into 'suspicious' death of man in Glenmuir Place Ayr
A 42-year-old man was found and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland have confirmed that the death is being treated as suspicious.
Detectives, supported by specialist officers, are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police have set up a dedicated Major Incident Public Portal for anyone with information to pass on anonymously.

Detective Inspector Steven Slater of the Major Investigation Team said: 'Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died at this very difficult time. They are being supported by specialist officers.
'Officers are carrying out several lines of enquiry and there will be a continued visible police presence in the area. Anyone with concerns can speak to these officers.
'If you were in the area at the time of this incident and saw anything that could assist with our investigation then please get in touch, no matter how small that piece of information might be.
'In particular, I am asking people to check private CCTV or doorbell footage and see if anything has been captured that could be important. Likewise, if you were driving in the area and have dash-cam that could assist, please contact us.'

Hundreds of people were involved for the search for the teenager, with volunteer led searches carried out during the month-long search to find him. Last month, scores of people gathered for a vigil to remember Cole. Around 300 people attended the vigil in his home village of Banknock as his heartbroken family addressed the crowd. Just two days before the vigil, cops confirmed the body found during their search had been formally identified as Cole. His family have now revealed some details of his funeral and thanked everyone who was there for them during the search. Cole's aunt Aimee Tennie posted to a social media page that was set up to find Cole, paying tribute to her nephew. The family asked for one last showing of how loved Cole was and for people to wear something blue, which was his favourite colour. She said: "This journey has been incredibly difficult and there remain many unanswered questions. "We are deeply grateful for the continued support we have received from you all throughout this horrifying time. Cole's funeral will be held on August 9 at St Joseph's Church in Bonnybridge before moving to Bannockburn Crematorium.

Two XL Bullies euthanised after seriously injuring woman in attack
Two legally owned XL Bullies have been euthanised after they attacked a woman and left her seriously injured in the Highlands. Officers were called to Invershin near Lairg at around 1.40pm on July 8 after reports of the attack. The 69-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital for treatment following the incident. A 76-year-old man was charged and a 51-year-old woman is due to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal. Police Scotland said the owner of the dogs made the decision to put both XL Bullies down. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 1.40pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, we received a report of a woman having been injured by two dogs in Invershin, Lairg. 'Emergency services attended and the 69-year-old woman was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries. 'A 76-year-old man has been charged in connection and a 51-year-old woman will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.'
