John Torode's wife Lisa Faulkner breaks silence on MasterChef axe
John Torode's wife Lisa Faulkner has broken her online silence following her husband's sacking from MasterChef. She's spoken after it was confirmed Torode's contract with the BBC series would not be renewed due to a historic allegation of racism.
In a video posted on her Instagram on Monday night, July 28, the actress told fans: "Hi there, I just wanted to check in and say hello. I'm here and just thank you for all your lovely comments because they really, really mean a lot. So thank you."
Lisa, 53, married Torode in 2019. This is the second marriage for the pair, with the former Holby City actress previously being with Chris Coghill, known for his role as Tony King in EastEnders. They share an adopted daughter named Billie.
Torode's ex-wife is Jessica, and they have two children together. The former MasterChef star, 59, also has two older children from a previous relationship, reports the Mirror.
Lisa and Torode first met when Lisa competed on Celebrity MasterChef back in 2010, forming a strong friendship that eventually blossomed. The pair hit it off immediately, maintaining their friendship after filming, but Lisa insists there was no initial romantic spark.
"He was a judge on a show I loved and I was petrified of him. He was brilliant and gave us all tips so you didn't want to let him down," she recalled.
"All I could think was, 'That sauce hasn't worked'. I didn't see anything but food for three months. After I won, we did The Good Food Show and stuff. John and I always got on, but I never thought about me and him."
John Torode's contract with MasterChef will not be renewed, as confirmed by the BBC and production company Banijay UK. The Australian-born presenter, 59, began co-hosting MasterChef with Gregg Wallace in 2005.
Torode acknowledged that he was the subject of a complaint regarding the use of racist language, which was upheld during a review conducted by law firm Lewis Silkin into the alleged behaviour of his co-presenter Gregg Wallace.
Banijay UK issued a statement saying: "In response to John Torode's statement, it is important to stress that Banijay UK takes this matter incredibly seriously. The legal team at Lewis Silkin that investigated the allegations relating to Gregg Wallace also substantiated an accusation of highly offensive racist language against John Torode which occurred in 2018.
"This matter has been formally discussed with John Torode by Banijay UK, and whilst we note that John says he does not recall the incident, Lewis Silkin have upheld the very serious complaint. Banijay UK and the BBC are agreed that we will not renew his contract on MasterChef."
The report from Lewis Silkin, commissioned by Banijay UK, found that 45 out of 83 allegations against Wallace were substantiated, along with two standalone allegations made against other individuals, including one for using racist language.
Torode acknowledged he was the individual accused of racist language but stated he had "no recollection of the incident" and was "shocked and saddened" by the allegation.
A BBC spokesperson commented: "John Torode has identified himself as having an upheld allegation of using racist language against him. This allegation – which involves an extremely offensive racist term being used in the workplace- was investigated and substantiated by the independent investigation led by the law firm, Lewis Silkin. John Torode denies the allegation.
"He has stated he has no recollection of the alleged incident and does not believe that it happened. He also says that any racial language is wholly unacceptable in any environment.
"The BBC takes this upheld finding extremely seriously. We will not tolerate racist language of any kind and, as we have already said, we told Banijay UK, the makers of MasterChef, that action must be taken. John Torode's contract on MasterChef will not be renewed."
Despite Torode's MasterChef dismissal, he has continued to grace television screens alongside Lisa for their own programme. An insider close to ITV confirmed to the Mirror that their scheduling for John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen 'remains unchanged' despite John's dismissal from MasterChef.

Iconic San Francisco 'Painted Lady' house's shocking drab interior revealed in public art exhibit
The Painted Ladies - a row of seven pastel colored homes in San Francisco - have long been an iconic staple in California, but one of them has a drab interior thanks to a new art exhibit. People from all across the world venture out to the Bay Area's Alamo Square Park to get a glimpse at the stunning properties, which were famously featured in the 1987 sitcom Full House. And now, tourists can walk into the Pink Painted Lady home to tour an art exhibit hosted by fnnch Museum - but the inside is far from what the exterior looks like. Behind the doors, the pop-up event, which opened to the public on July 23, features a unique display of Honey Bear paintings along colorless, bland walls. A total of 116 Honey Bear paintings, created by local artist fnnch, are on display in the house. Keen art observers don't have to pay to go, but they do have to register to get inside. The tour is around until October and is open seven days a week from 12pm to 8pm. The artist, a Missouri native who describes himself as an 'anonymous American street artist,' is excited to have his paintings on public display. 'I am thrilled to finally reveal the "fnnch Museum," a project I have been working on all year,' he said in a social media post. 'It is a retrospective of 10 years of Honey Bear paintings, and it is being hosted in one of the famous Painted Ladies of Alamo Square.' Others who have made their way to the exhibit or plan to do so have also shared their elation. 'Went today and the show is FANTASTIC!!! Also, the woman at the front desk was awesome,' one wrote. 'I had accidentally registered for the wrong date and she sorted it so quickly and seamlessly,' an Instagram user wrote on fnnch's post,' they added. 'Looking forward to checking out this exhibit by @fnnch,' said another. While some are thrilled about the display, others are not at all happy about it. 'Remember the time he called himself an immigrant from Missouri? Wild times,' one wrote. 'Lovely home. Hard pass on the 'artist',' wrote another. Someone else labeled his artwork 'Gentrified graffiti.' 'But…he sucks,' a user wrote. Fnnch, who has only been pictured with face masks on, is no stranger to controversy as he was previously blasted by critics who appear to be tired of seeing his Honey Bears plastered across San Francisco. In 2021, he was called out in a petition with people demanding his artwork be removed from the city's LGBT center because it is 'inappropriate.' Specifically, the page said it was wrong for him to paint there because he is a 'cis, straight, white, male gentrifier' who is 'taking up space in what should literally be a LGBT location.' 'The local street art and queer community are already blighting out his mural regularly and have vowed to keep it up until it is removed and replaced for good,' it continued. The page also shared an image of a person standing in front of the graffiti-filled mural with their middle fingers in the air. Daily Mail contacted fnnch for comment. The Pink Painted Ladies home is not the first to open its doors, as there is also a Blue Painted Lady House Tour. People can explore the home for 90 minutes daily at 4pm for $35 a person, according to its social media page.

I'm A Celeb star cruelly dad-shamed after sharing clip of son, four, drinking from baby bottle
AN I'm A Celeb star has been cruelly dad-shamed after sharing a clip of his four-year-old son drinking from a baby bottle. Jake Quickenden and wife Sophie are parents to children Leo and Kit, who was born at the start of the year. 4 The star revealed his kids are his biggest inspiration, telling us: 'Everything I do is for them. But Jake's recent Instagram post has baffled some fans, as he shared a video of Leo who was in his pyjamas on the bed with a bottle of milk. The adorable tot, who is four-years-old, was claiming to have seen his grandad, Jake's dad, in their home. Jake's dad, Paul Quickenden, passed away in 2008 after battling a rare form of bone cancer. The star, in disbelief, wrote: 'I don't know whether to be totally terrified or cry my eyes out here, me and Leo was just playing in my room and he randomly just started saying this stuff, literally out the blue!! 'He then described him and everything lol he's seen a couple pics but yeah total madness. What would make him come out with that??? They say kids see.' But some fans were more focused on the bottle that the four-year-old was drinking from, questioning if he was 'too old' for it. One person wrote: 'A little old to be still drinking from a bottle!!' A second added: 'Why is this kid still drinking a bottle of milk? He's way too old.' A third penned: 'Why's that child still drinking from a baby bottle ???' And another added: 'What's more scary is the kids drinking from a baby bottle.' But others were quick to share positive comments about Jake's sweet post, with one person writing: 'Awww this is so cute,' a second penned: 'Wow, this is so beautiful Jake,' and a third said: 'Your little son is so cute drinking his milk!!!! Adorable xxxxxxx' Another fan defended Jake's decision to give his son a bottle, adding: 'Imagine posting a video of your child saying something so emotional and beautiful. In clean pyjamas, in a cosy bed, smiling and chatting with his daddy… only to have people pick up on the fact he's drinking from a bottle. The internet sucks sometimes, honestly. My son is 4, he has ASD and still only uses a bottle to drink from. If he chooses to drink from a bottle for the rest of his life then I will be getting us matching ones. Let's do better folks.' Jake first rose to fame on the X Factor back in 2012 and while many have faded into obscurity, Jake Quickenden has firmly cemented himself as a household name. But, recently, the 36-year-old admitted there's a dark side to it all, which rarely gets talked about but affects everyone in the industry - money. Jake told us: 'I'm always worrying about work, you see work come and go, you're wondering when your next job's coming in. 'Obviously you go on a show such as Big Brother and you're loved by some people and hated by others, and there's a lot of factors that you have to think about with reality TV. 'It can be a tough place to be sometimes.' As well as the X Factor, Jake has appeared on I'm A Celebrity, Dancing on Ice, SAS Who Dares Wins and MasterChef to name a few. He has also appeared in a number of stage roles and is making a name for himself in the theatre world. Speaking to The Sun via WhichBingo, the dad-of-three said: 'I'm obviously worried from job to job because money is the main thing that kind of keeps you ticking over. 'You want to pay your mortgage, you wanna be able to go on holiday when you choose and stuff, so I guess there's always a worry if you're not working, that you're not earning money. 'I'm not a multi-millionaire, but I've got savings in case some work doesn't come in for a year and I'm auditioning and it doesn't go my way. 'You've got to use your head and think, in the past when I was younger I'd probably just spend all my money and blow it and then not think about the consequences, but when you're a father and you've got a family and a house and a car to pay for then you do have to put a bit of money away for a rainy day or in case work's not coming in.' 4
