Eurofragance appoints new General Manager for the Middle East
The transition guarantees continuity and drive while retaining close ties with regional clients and partners
Expanded production plant in Barcelona, Spain, triples capacity to meet growing demand from the Middle East region
Barcelona - Spanish fragrance house Eurofragance announces a strategic leadership change in the Middle East in the running of the Gulf region, a key market for the business, with the appointment of Oumayma Tabet as the new General Manager for the region, effective January 2026.
Antoine de Riedmatten, who has held this role for over a decade, will step down from operational duties while remaining actively involved with the company as a member of the Middle East and India Regional Board. The leadership of the region will now be structured under two distinct geographical areas: India, led by General Manager Mayur Kapse, and Middle East, under the leadership of Oumayma Tabet.
'This step allows us to consolidate a new phase in our regionalization strategy with solid foundations and a renewed approach. I am proud to remain linked to this extraordinary region from a new perspective, and to accompany Oumayma, whose talent, vision and knowledge of the market are unquestionable,' says Antoine de Riedmatten. Since his arrival at Eurofragance in 2014, Antoine has been a key figure in the professionalization and internationalization of the company. His career highlights include the creation and establishment of Eurofragance's Creative Center and regional headquarters in Dubai.
This leadership transition coincides with the recent inauguration of the company's expanded manufacturing site in Spain. A €10 million investment has allowed Eurofragance to triple its production capacity, enhancing its ability to respond to increasing demand from the Middle East with greater agility, efficiency, and customization.
'Expanding our capacity in Spain directly supports our commitment to the Middle East, a region that continues to inspire us and drive our innovation,' said Clara Mena, Chief Operations Officer at Eurofragance. 'The site now represents half of our global production and is designed to respond to the scale and sophistication of market needs.'
The upgraded plant integrates advanced robotics engineering, automating 80% of production processes and includes sustainability features such as solar panels supplying over one-third of its energy consumption. It also offers improved ergonomics and workspaces for enhanced employee well-being.
These changes are part of the process of strengthening Eurofragance's business in the Middle East, which experienced extraordinary growth in 2024.
In response to this favorable, but also highly competitive and fast-evolving environment, the company has restructured its regional board. This organizational shift is designed to support the company's sustained growth alongside clients and to implement Eurofragance's global strategies with relevance and agility.
A strategic vision with a customer-first focus
The appointment of Oumayma Tabet as the new head of the Middle East marks a new chapter for Eurofragance, reinforcing its commitment to internal talent, strategic continuity and client-centered leadership. With over 21 years of experience in the fragrance sector, Tabet brings a blend of technical expertise, market knowledge and creative sensitivity.
Over her career she has worked in international companies such as Quest International and Mane, to name just a few. During the past two years, she has led Eurofragance's Creative Center in Dubai, establishing the team as a regional benchmark for innovation and teamwork. Under her leadership, the company has strengthened key partnerships and fostered a high-performance culture rooted in excellence, diversity and close client engagement.
'I embrace this new challenge with great excitement and responsibility. I believe in the power of people and the strength of shared ideas. My commitment is to drive growth in the region and build solid partnerships with our clients. The key ingredients for this are innovation, sustainability and our passion for fragrance, so we can continue to make a meaningful difference,' says Tabet.
With this reorganization, Eurofragance bolsters its global growth strategy and moves forward with stronger structures and leadership fully equipped to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

Lebanon cracks down on 'generator mafia' charging soaring costs during summer heat
Lebanon is to crack down on owners of power generators accused of ripping off consumers during the summer heat. A Cabinet meeting on Wednesday included a discussion about thousands of complaints the government has received about the issue, said Information Minister Paul Morcos. Many Lebanese use private generators because the electricity grid is too unreliable. The government is now giving operators 45 days to comply with new regulations on the sector, including installing meters and charging by the amount of energy used. If operators fail to comply, they could face legal action and have their generators seized, Mr Morcos said. Informally referred to as a "generator mafia", some private operators are known for charging steep flat fees regardless of use that far exceed what someone would expect to pay. It is notoriously difficult to get private generator operators to install meters to calculate energy use fairly if one is not already installed. Lebanon has become dependent on expensive diesel-powered generators since a devastating economic crisis began in 2019 and dealt the fatal blow to its already crumbling electricity sector. State electricity tends to work for four to six hours a day. It means that, if they can afford it, people rely on privately owned generators that use polluting fossil fuels. The smog that hangs over Beirut is seen easily when approaching the Lebanese capital. The reliance on generators has become more acute during a particularly hot summer in Lebanon. This situation worsened in recent days when a technical failure caused state electricity output to briefly grind to a halt, although the problem has since been fixed. Solar power use is slowly growing, but is subject to expensive start-up costs. The state has not built power plants in decades or invested in renewable energy despite several projects being planned, over a lack of agreement on profit sharing.

UAE announces major new passport rule
UAE citizens will now be able to renew their passports up to one year before the expiry date, following a new decision by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP). Previously, the renewal period was limited to six months before expiry. The updated rule — announced by ICP Chairman Ali Mohammed Al Shamsi — comes into effect Monday, August 18, 2025, and will be available via the Authority's smart services platform. UAE passport renewal Al Shamsi said the move will improve citizens' quality of life by allowing them to plan international travel further in advance, complete official transactions without delays, and increase the use of secure digital documents. He also highlighted the UAE passport's position as the world's most powerful and trusted travel document, saying the decision will enhance its global standing and reinforce the country's leadership in passport issuance and renewal systems.

RAK Properties' Q2 profit almost doubles on Wynn Resorts boost
The increasing interest of investors from Europe and Central Asian in Ras Al Khaimah's property market on the back of the multibillion-dollar Wynn Resorts is boosting earnings of real estate developers in the emirate. RAK Properties on Thursday reported an almost doubling of net income in the second quarter amid strong demand. The Abu Dhabi-listed company's net profit after tax for three months to the end of June climbed to Dh92.6 million ($25.2 million), with revenue rising 26 per cent to Dh404.5 million, according to its financial statement on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. The company recorded Dh1.5 billion in sales in the first half of the year and is on target to achieve Dh3 billion for the full year, Sameh Muhtadi, chief executive of RAK Properties, told The National. 'There's tremendous international interest in what we're offering to the market,' Mr Muhtadi said. 'I had committed to [Dh]5 billion worth of launches in 2025 and we're smack on target there.' The UAE property market continues to rebound strongly from the Covid-driven slowdown, on the back of government initiatives such as the expansion of the 10-year golden visa programme and residency permits for retired and remote workers. The overall growth in the economy amid non-oil sector expansion is also supporting the growth of the property sector. RAK Properties has launched new projects this year including Armani Beach Residences in partnership with fashion designer Giorgio Armani, Anantara apartments and villas, Mirasol and Enta. It plans to launch more projects for the rest of the year amid higher demand from buyers. 'We have a significant pipeline … will be bringing to market a lot of new projects,' Mr Muhtadi said. The company has sold more than 2,000 units to buyers from Europe, CIS countries, India and UAE residents this year, he added, with the Wynn Resorts development a major 'catalyst' in boosting sales. 'For people interested in short-term rentals and decent yield on their investments, Wynn is the major catalyst,' he said. The $3.9 billion Wynn Al Marjan Island, the UAE's first gaming resort, is set to open in early 2027. Being developed by Las Vegas-based hotel operator Wynn Resorts, the 1,500-room resort is expected to boost the tourism potential of the emirate and attract more investment in property in Ras Al Khaimah. Developers including Abu Dhabi's Aldar Properties, Dubai Investments, Dar Global and Damac Properties are lining up new projects in Ras Al Khaimah amid anticipation of higher demand on Wynn Resorts. The residential stock in Ras Al Khaimah is projected to double by the end of 2030, with more than 11,000 units scheduled for completion, based on the supply from launches up to the end of 2024, according to a recent Savills report. 'We anticipate continued interest, continued growth. Wynn will open in April 27, so we're approaching that big event, and I think that is going to attract a lot of attention the rest of this year and all of 2026," Mr Muhtadi said. Expanding to other emirates The company is also looking to expand outside Ras Al Khaimah with a new project worth about Dh220 million in Dubai South this year near Al Maktoum International Airport, as well as a new project in Abu Dhabi by the end of next year. It also acquired 2 million square feet of land in Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah for development by the end of this year, with 22 to 24 projects planned, Mr Muhtadi said Future growth RAK Properties aims to achieve 25 per cent annual growth in both revenue and profit for 2025 when compared to the previous year, on the back of new launches and strong demand for property in the northern emirate. 'Our strategy is built around continued growth of revenue, continued growth of profit, our results have been better than we had anticipated and we're hopeful that the momentum will continue. Our objective is never to go below a 25 per cent growth year-on-year on all fronts,' Mr Muhtadi said. Last year, the company reported about Dh281 million in net profit after tax and Dh1.4 billion in revenue, with the growth momentum expected to continue this year, he added.
