Dutch Palace Gives Update on Princess Catharina-Amalia's Surgery After Future Queen's Horseback Riding Incident
Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands will remain hospitalized for monitoring after undergoing surgery after falling off her horse, the Dutch royal palace said in an update
The future queen broke her arm in the accident
The hospitalization resulted in a few changes in the Dutch royal family's schedule
Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands is continuing her hospital stay after a horseback riding accident and undergoing surgery for a broken arm.
The Dutch palace issued an update about the future queen on Wednesday, June 11, stating that the 21-year-old daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima underwent surgery the previous day for a "fracture in her upper arm."
"The surgery went well," the palace said in the statement. "She will remain in the UMC Utrecht for monitoring until tomorrow."
The Princess of Orange's injury also caused a few changes in the royal schedule, according to the new update. A summer photo session that was set for June 12 at the Paleis Huis ten Bosch was postponed until June 30 due to Princess Catharina-Amalia's hospitalization.
In addition, Queen Maxima will miss her scheduled appearance at the CGAP congress in Amsterdam on June 11. King Willem-Alexander will carry on his outing at the opening of the Holland Festival, but he will appear without his wife.
On June 10, the palace revealed that the heir to the Dutch throne had fallen from her horse, resulting in a broken arm that required surgery. Princess Amalia's equestrian hobby is a longtime passion, with the palace's official website featuring photos of her riding her horse, Mojito.
The U.K.'s Princess Anne was also involved in a horse-related injury just last year. In June 2024, King Charles' sister, 74, was hospitalized with a concussion believed to be caused by an impact with a horse at her home on the Gatcombe Park estate.
One month later, Princess Anne — who competed in equestrian events at the Olympics in 1976 — said she could not remember "a single thing" about the incident.

Recalling the incident during a visit to South Africa in January, the Princess Royal said that the experience taught her that "every day is a bonus," according to the BBC.
'It just reminds you, shows you — you never quite know, something [happens] and you might not recover,' she said. 'You're jolly lucky...if you can continue to be more or less compos mentis [of sound mind], and last summer I was very close to not being. Take each day as it comes, they say."
Princess Anne is expected to join her family at Trooping the Colour on Saturday, June 14,and is expected to ride on horseback alongside Prince William and Prince Edward.

David Beckham edges closer to knighthood at King Charles event with Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet
Several stars joined King Charles III to mark a special occasion. On Thursday, the British monarch hosted the King's Foundation's annual awards ceremony at St. James's Palace in London. The organization is marking its 35th year, People magazine reported. David Beckham, Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep were among the famous faces spotted at the event, which featured 200 guests. Stanley Tucci and Penny Lancaster were also in attendance. Beckham's appearance is notable as the 50-year-old is reportedly gearing up to be knighted by the king. His wife, Victoria Beckham, would then be known as 'Lady Beckham.' The co-owner of Inter Miami CF and Salford City became an ambassador for the foundation in 2024. Fox News Digital reached out to a spokesperson for the Beckhams and Buckingham Palace for comment. According to People, the charity has trained more than 115,000 students in traditional craft and environmental education over its 35-year tenure. The outlet noted that it has positively affected more than 500,000 lives through sustainable urban planning. The King's Foundation was begun by Charles, 76, in 1990 when he was the Prince of Wales. His goal was to support 'communities where people, places and the planet can coexist harmoniously.' 3 Celebrities from all over gathered to celebrate with King Charles III at the 35th King's Foundation's annual awards ceremony. Chris J. Ratcliffe-Reuters/POOL supplied by Splash News / Today, the charity offers educational courses for almost 15,000 students annually, overseas projects revitalizing communities and historic buildings, and health and well-being programs for nearly 2,000 people every year. The king presented the King Charles III Harmony Award to Professor Muhammad Yunus from Bangladesh, People reported. The 2006 Nobel Peace laureate has founded more than 50 social business companies and encouraged sustainable projects. In 2024, Beckham announced in a statement that he was eager to work with the foundation to help inspire young people in his home country. 3 Among the 200 guests at the event were David Beckham, Kate Winslet, and Meryl Streep. REUTERS 'I'm excited to be working with The King's Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity's work,' Beckham said at the time. 'I've always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons, and I'm particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation's education programs and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature,' he shared. 'Having developed a love for the countryside, I'm also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which [are] so central to the Foundation's work,' he added. The star received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2003. 3 Beckham is set to be knighted by the king in the near future. AP The Guardian also pointed out that the former Manchester United player was put forward to receive a knighthood over 10 years ago when he was nominated in 2011. In addition to playing for England's national soccer team over 100 times, Beckham has been recognized for his charitable work with children from underprivileged backgrounds, People magazine reported. 'It is utterly ridiculous that it has taken until now to honor David Beckham, who is something of a phenomenon, with a knighthood,' royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams previously told Fox News Digital. 'He has done a great deal for charity, especially UNICEF, and was involved in bringing the Olympic Games to London in 2012,' he shared. 'The value of his endorsement is simply amazing. From his tattoos to his footwear, there is a fascination with everything about him. His wife, Victoria, who also received an OBE for her work as a designer, was a member of the Spice Girls, one of the most successful girl bands of all time.' Just last month, Beckham joined Charles at the Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea Flower Show in London, People reported. The outlet noted that Beckham was wearing a rose that was named in the king's honor. He previously attended the King Foundation's celebratory dinner at Highgrove House, the king's family residence, with Victoria, 51, in February.

Ilona Maher Talks 2028 L.A. Olympics After Winning Bronze in Paris
American rugby player Ilona Maher was one of Team USA's breakout stars of the 2024 Paris Olympics - and with the 2028 summer games coming to Los Angeles, Maher is contemplating whether she wants to compete. "I am going to try to," the athlete, 28, told Kylie Kelce on the Thursday, June 12, episode of Kelce's "Not Gonna Lie" podcast. "I think it would be so cool to play in a home olympics. That is my goal, but I am still in a phase of trying to figure out what my love of it is. Like, my 'why' for rugby because I feel very fulfilled after the Olympics, getting a medal and doing all that." The bronze medalist helped lead the United States to its first-ever women's rugby medal last summer, and since then, she's kept plenty busy - not just as an athlete, but as a social media influencer, model and even contestant on Dancing With the Stars. She finished second on season 33 alongside pro partner Alan Bersten. "Playing while I still love it and not like it's a chore, and also I still feel good, is what I'm battling now," she continued. "I love doing this. I love doing the social media, the swim weeks and the shows, so I hope that I go back in a couple years and I'm like, 'I can't wait to work my ass off to put in the grind.'" Maher, however, is aware that playing in the Olympics is about more than just sports. "With the Olympics, this wasn't just for myself," she told Us Weekly exclusively in December 2024. "The Olympics was to get a medal for my team, to get a medal for our program so we could continue having a program so young girls could dream about being an Olympian and playing rugby in the U.S. So that's pressure." Since coming home from Paris, Maher has embraced her platform as a role model, becoming an advocate for body image and inclusion on and off the field. Along with everything else she has going on, she revealed in May that she has also been working on writing a memoir since 2022. "I was like, 'I don't have anything to write about,'" she told guest Mamrie Hart on an episode of her "House of Maher" podcast. "'What am I gonna write about?' And then one day, I opened up a Cutwater … I was at home and I just started typing and realized you have so much more to say than you realize sometimes." "There's so many little fun stories to share," she continued. "So it's been really cool to write and cathartic, in a way." Copyright 2025 Us Weekly. All rights reserved.

Simon Cowell admits he's ‘very worried' about giving his son this as he gets older
During an interview with ITV's This Morning, 'America's Got Talent' judge Simon Cowell opened up about being a parent to a now 11-year-old son. Cowell and his partner Lauren Silverman share son, Eric Cowell. And as his son continues to get older, Cowell admitted that he's getting more and more nervous about an upcoming milestone, giving Eric his first cell phone. For Cowell, getting Eric a phone means giving his son 'access to anything,' according to People. 'I'm very worried, Jeff, about how much kids can see at a certain age,' Cowell told Jeff Brazier with ITV, a British broadcast television network. 'I grew up ... learning things at the right time, the right age, etcetera, etcetera. I just would be petrified of him having access to anything that would really worry me.' In addition to worrying about giving Eric too much information too soon, Cowell opened up about one of the lessons his mom bestowed upon him that he will also bestow upon Eric. 'My mom used to say, manners make the man, and my dad was very good about respecting other people, and I'm trying to do the same thing with him,' Cowell continued. 'Don't make it overcomplicated, you know? Find your path, be happy, [and] be respectful to other people.' Cowell has often discussed his love of being a dad to Eric. He told Brazier that fatherhood is 'the best thing to ever happen' to him 'out of everything I've ever done in my life.' 'The very first time I saw his scan, I was literally obsessed,' Cowell recalled. 'When he was a baby, because they don't really do anything, I'm like, 'Well why doesn't he like me?' and Lauren was going, 'He's a baby' and I didn't understand that. Then, at about a year and a half, we started to communicate, that was magic.' But despite saying Eric is the reason for his 'softer' side, that doesn't mean Eric will get a free pass from his father's infamous judgment for talent. 'If Eric said to me, 'I want to be a singer' and he couldn't sing, I would be absolutely honest with him,' Cowell admitted, according to the Daily Star. 'If he couldn't, I would say, 'You know what, be a drummer'.' However, Cowell is confident he won't have to have that conversation because at just 11 years old, Eric is already proving he has musical talent. 'Eric actually can play the drums well but he's quite shy. I walk and I hear him, and he stops. I say, 'Why are you stopping?' and he says, 'Well, I'm a bit embarrassed' and I say, 'Well don't be, you're really good.''
