
Kuwait reviews progress on China agreements in high-level meeting
The session reviewed the progress of several strategic initiatives, with a focus on the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, renewable energy development, housing, environmental infrastructure, including wastewater treatment plants, eco-friendly recycling, combating desertification, and advancing sustainable agriculture.
During the meeting, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Committee Rapporteur, Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat, delivered a comprehensive briefing on the steps taken by relevant Kuwaiti authorities to follow through on bilateral agreements.
Ambassador Hayat announced that a high-level technical delegation from the Ministry of Public Works is scheduled to visit China early next week. The visit is aimed at enhancing environmental infrastructure cooperation and discussing the implementation of wastewater treatment projects across Kuwait.
He also reported on recent meetings between Chinese officials and senior Kuwaiti authorities focusing on desertification control. The Chinese delegation, which visited for eight days, toured sites across Kuwait in need of land rehabilitation and submitted a technical report outlining implementation mechanisms for afforestation and anti-sand encroachment projects. These efforts align with directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
His Highness the Prime Minister emphasized the strategic importance of Kuwait-China cooperation and urged all involved ministries and agencies to intensify efforts to realize the vision of the country's leadership. He stressed the necessity of full coordination to fulfill the ambitions of both nations and support Kuwait's national development agenda.
Among the officials present were Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Noura Al-Fassam, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, Acting Head of the Prime Minister's Diwan Sheikh Khaled Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, and President of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Al-Majed.
The meeting underscored Kuwait's ongoing commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with China and advancing national development through sustainable, environmentally conscious initiatives.

He said 17.5 million tourists visited Morocco last year, including 23,000 Kuwaiti tourists, compared to the previous number of around 16,000 or 17,000. He stated that the increase in the number of Kuwait Airways flights to Morocco to four per week is evidence of the high demand for this destination. On investments, he emphasized that Kuwaiti investments in Morocco have existed for a long time and continue to exist. He confirmed that Morocco is keen on renovating its structures to attract more investments, especially from Arab countries and Kuwait in particular. He added, 'There are conditions that encourage Kuwaiti investors from the public and private sectors to invest in Morocco, and trade exchange continues to grow. We intend to develop them to a higher level.'

Kuwait moves to equip youth for tech future with new academy
KUWAIT CITY, July 31: Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth (PAY), Nasser Al-Sheikh, reaffirmed the authority's commitment to empowering Kuwaiti youth in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and artificial intelligence (AI). His remarks followed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PAY and the Kuwait Space Company (KSC) to establish a National Youth Academy. The academy aims to equip young Kuwaitis with advanced skills in artificial intelligence, space sciences, robotics, and cybersecurity. Speaking to reporters after the signing, Al-Sheikh emphasized that youth are at the forefront of Kuwait's development priorities. "This academy will serve as a modern national platform to cultivate the skills of our youth, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the knowledge economy and participate actively in achieving the goals of the 'New Kuwait 2035' vision,' Al-Sheikh said. The session was held at Bayan Palace on Thursday. The meeting reviewed the progress of key development initiatives outlined in the Kuwait-China cooperation framework, including the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, expansion of the electric power system, renewable energy development, construction of eco-friendly recycling systems, housing initiatives, and environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment plants. Discussions also covered free and economic zones, as well as strategies to combat desertification and promote sustainable agriculture. Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat delivered a comprehensive briefing on the implementation of MoUs. Liu expressed appreciation for Kuwait's leadership of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), commending its regional and global role in fostering digital innovation. He invited Minister Al-Omar to participate in the upcoming Partnership for the Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) Forum, scheduled for September, as part of efforts to expand sustainable digital collaboration.
