Wife On Strike was first launched in November 2023 but as the series continued, ratings for the show began to dip and it soon fell below one million viewers.
Bosses decided to pull the series after just two episodes and instead re-launched the remaining episodes last July as Mums On Strike with a slightly re-tooled edit and premise.
However, insiders have now confirmed to the Mail Online that the show has been shelved despite the revamp.
A source told the publication: "Wife On Strike was reminiscent of the Wife Swap days when millions of nosey viewers would tune in for their reality fix.
"But it just failed to catch on with the audience and was underperforming in the highly competitive prime time slot where original dramas could easily pull in double the numbers.
"While the rest of the series eventually aired under a new name, a decision was made to quietly rest the show with no further episodes planned."
The Sun has reached out to Channel 5 for comment.
In the programme, it saw the wives of the household move out of the home and give up all household chores and jobs.
They left the family home leaving the rest of their family to pick up the pieces and undertake all the jobs normally left to them.
Wife On Strike bore striking similarities to popular Channel 4 show Wife Swap.
Axed Channel 5 show Mum On Strike returns to air in shock U-turn
The programme which featured two totally different wives swapping households to see how others approached family life was first launched in 2003 to huge appeal.
It produced many iconic moments and continued to run until 2009 when the format was axed.
It aired a total of eleven series across its six years on air.

Brooklyn Beckham's pal shares 'the most worrying thing' as feud becomes dark

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz had a "second" wedding week - and such is the rift between David and Victoria and their daughter-in-law, the pair found out about the renewal by reading it online Brooklyn Beckham"isn't Brooklyn anymore" - according to a friend who says this is now "the most worrying thing" amid his family feud. ‌ Pals have reportedly become particularly concerned for the 26-year-old chef after he had a "second" wedding with Nicola Peltz over the weekend - and didn't inform his family. Such is the rift between Posh and Becks and their daughter-in-law Nicola that the pair only found out about the wedding vow renewal by reading it online. But it would seem that they were not the only ones supposedly black-listed from the lavish bash, which was attended by up to 200 people. ‌ The fallout from this has worried friends, including one who told the press of the "fear, worry and utter, utter devastation" loved ones share for Brooklyn. They said: "A point has now been reached where it's actually no longer about a feud. There is much confusion, fear, worry and utter, utter devastation that this happened without Brooklyn telling any of his family. ‌ "Far from fuelling a feud, it is just very, very worrying for everyone who loves him. They are worried about what is going on over there in the States." Brooklyn's siblings Romeo and Cruz were also persona non grata on August 2, it is understood. Another friend said the brothers have been "fanning the flames" as they feud - which first emerged around David's 50th birthday - continues to escalate. ‌ But the original insider told Mail Online the majority of any anger has turned to concern following the vow renewal ceremony. There is worry not just for Brooklyn but his extended family too, including both grandmothers. The pal continued: "It isn't just about David and Victoria anymore. They are heartbroken they don't see their son, but what about the grandparents? Brooklyn has always been so close to them. We are talking about a boy who was raised by his grandmothers Jackie Adams and Sandra Beckham when he was little and his parents were working. "He adores them, but he didn't even tell them about this. Imagine being an grandmother missing her grandson and seeing all of this on the internet. And that is the most worrying thing - it's like Brooklyn isn't Brooklyn anymore." ‌ Yet, Nicola's five brothers and sister Brittany did make the cut for the guest list earlier this month. Other guests included Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife Georgina Chapman, her Oscar-winning actor partner Adrien Brody and actor Oliver Trevena. However, we told yesterday how, despite the latest stunt, the Beckham family still claim to hope for a reconciliation. Our source told the Mirror: "The door is open. No one wants to see this kind of pain exist. There is always hope. At the end of the day. Blood is thicker than water."

Lorraine Kelly leaving ITV when her contract ends next year

The 65-year-old broadcaster and presenter was said to be furious when it was announced that her show would only be running for 30 weeks in 2026. This would represent a major cut, with the number of weeks being slashed from 52. However, it is now being reported that the TV star will leave the channel when her contract comes to an end. Lorraine Kelly 'leaving' ITV when her contract ends next year Discussing the claims, A source told the Mail Online: "Lorraine sees it as the end. Lorraine Kelly's programme wasn't the only show affected by recently announced changes to the ITV schedule. Lorraine Kelly makes furious decision to 'leave' ITV amid brutal bloodbath cuts

Lorraine Kelly has hosted her show on ITV for 15 years but it seems she is finally ready to say goodbye to the broadcaster, according to an insider. Lorraine Kelly is planning to leave ITV when her contract runs out next year, an insider has claimed. The 65-year-old broadcaster was left furious earlier this year when ITV announced her programme will only run for 30 weeks of the year in 2026, down from the normal 52. ‌ Lorraine's show is set to be cut in half and will run from only 9:30am until 10am from January, which Lorraine expressed frustration about in May. However, it's now reported that the Scots presenter has decided to call it quits when her contract ends next year. ‌ A consultation period, which will determine who will be affected by ITV's brutal financial cuts, is currently underway and although Lorraine's role appears to be in the all clear, the Scots star is reportedly ready to make her exit after hosting her show for 15 years. ‌ The bloodbath cuts may affect Lorraine's current popular stand-ins Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh, as the presenters might see their appearances fronting the show being slashed, the Mirror reports. A source told Mail Online today: "Lorraine sees it as the end. She's got a year left on her contract which she will honour, but beyond that there are no plans for her to stay. She will be leaving. ‌ "Of course, she will be fine, she has loads of money. But some of the people who work for her have done so for many years and have put up with her demands for a long, long time. Yet they will struggle to ever get another job in the television industry." Lorraine, who originally hails from Glasgow, celebrated her 40th year in television last year with a special episode of the morning show which follows Good Morning Britain in ITV'S line up. ‌ Production staff on these shows, in addition to further ITV daytime programming, are being massively affected by the changes, it is believed. One employee branded the situation as "horrendous" as they claimed "the little people" at the west London-based broadcaster were suffering. They told Mail Online: "All the big names are staying while the little people get the boot. It is horrendous. ‌ "You'd think if you wanted to save a big lump of cash you could get rid of some of the presenters. There are loads of them!" Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The veteran broadcaster will continue to front Good Morning Britain for a further six months at least after recently signing a new, short-term contract, according to reports. Madeley, originally from Romford, east London, frequently presents Good Morning Britain with Susanna Reid, whose role is also said to be safe.
