Celebs Go Dating star questions The Chase Mark Labbett's true intentions as he joins cast
The Chase's Mark Labbett has joined the cast of Celebs Go Dating - and as the new celebs begin filming in Ibiza - one expert wants know know 'why' he's on the show
The Chase star Mark Labbett has joined the cast of Celebs Go Dating and expert Dr Tara is curious as to why he wanted to join the show.
Last week, E4 announced the star-studded cast were heading to Ibiza to kick off the show in an exciting twist. Joining Mark in the line-up will be Atomic Kitten legend Kerry Katona, Too Hot To Handle's Louis Russell, Love Island All Stars' Olivia Hawkins, and S Club 7 star Jon Lee.
Mark's appearance on the show comes after a tough five years in relationships. In 2020, Mark announced his divorce from ex-wife Katie. Last year, the ITV star went through another high-profile breakup, as he split from his girlfriend Hayley Palmer.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror about Mark's situation, resident sexpert Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn said: "It's difficult to be at that age, newly single and out of practice with dating for a long time.
"When we start working with him more, we'll learn a lot more on his true intentions as to why he's here. Because I honestly don't know why he's here!", Dr Tara exclaimed.
"He's a very established person in society. Anyone can introduce him to an eligible woman. So why are you at the agency? I would love to dig deep on that," she concluded.
In 2020, Mark discovered that his wife Katie had been having an affair and was secretly seeing design engineer Scott Bate. Speaking to the Mail at the time, The Beast revealed: "When Katie first came clean to me about her boyfriend, I'd had an inkling."
It was reported that the couple, who share a son together, tried to keep their marriage open, but the TV star found it too difficult and stepped back, allowing Katie's relationship with Scott to flourish.
In 2023, Mark went public with his new girlfriend, TV presenter Hayley Palmer. However, the ITV quizmaster ended the relationship, just after they had celebrated their one-year anniversary.
Chatting with The Sun about his unexpected split, Mark pointed to his age as the culprit, confessing: "It's me, I got old". He continued: "She's [Hayley's] a lovely lady and I was very lucky to date her for a year, and as I said...it's me, I got old. There's been no one since Hayley, I'm not saying there won't be another one. But I'm certainly not looking."

Westlife star pulls out of 25-year celebrations after serious health issues leaving fans concerned
The band will continue on for their anniversary as a trio. Westlife fans have been left gutted after it was revealed that band member Mark Feehily will not be able to perform at the band's big 25th anniversary gigs as he continues to battle health issues. Mark was in the band with Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan and Kian Egan and the lads enjoyed huge success but in February 2024, he announced that he was taking a step back from the Irish boyband due to health issues. The last few years have been tough for Mark and in 2024, he underwent surgery to treat a hernia. A few years prior to that he was treated for sepsis during a Covid lockdown in August 2020. At the time of his operation last August, Mark was advised to recover and not go back on tour with Westlife as they headed off to Canada, the US, Mexico and Brazil, writes The Mirror. Many fans were hopeful that Mark would later be able to rejoin the group to mark their big anniversary, but he has now confirmed that he will be unable to attend. In a message shared on social media on Wednesday night, Westlife wrote: "To our amazing fans, We would like to take this opportunity to share some very important news with you all. "We are thrilled to announce the launch of our 25th Anniversary celebrations... On the 9th February 2001 we kicked off our first ever world tour at the Newcastle Arena. Who would have thought we would still be here 25 years later? "We have so many exciting plans to share with you very soon which will include new music, an album, special shows and many, many more surprises along the way. "Sadly, Mark will be unable to join the celebrations. We hope he can join us back on stage when he is ready and able. He sends his love and positivity to you all as always. "The four of us can't quite believe its been 25 years. We could only have dreamt of the continued love and loyalty you have consistently shown us around the world. We are so lucky to have all of you with us and we can't wait to celebrate together! Happy 25th To Us All! Love, Kian, Mark, Nicky & Shane x." In the comments sections of the post, fans had different opinions on the show doing on as a trio. One penned: "I don't know whether to cry with happiness that you're finally coming back for your 25th year anniv or sob at the fact that mark won't be joining you to celebrate it. I'm so overwhelmed…" "Love you guys... BUT, Westlife isn't Westlife without Mark. 3 just don't cut it," another wrote, with a third pondering: "I wonder if Bryan McFadden will possibly join them for some shows?" Brian McFadden was also a member of Westlife but quit the band in March 2004. Mark first opened up about his health struggles last year on Instagram, posting a statement on the band's official Instagram account, he wrote: "Hello and much love to you all! It's Mark here.. Most of you are aware that I have had some health challenges over the past while. It actually all started 3.5 years ago in August 2020 when I had surgery. Within a few days of this surgery I was in severe pain and was rushed into AandE." He continued: "I eventually ended that awful day in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) where I was informed that due to a complication with the surgery, I had developed severe "Sepsis", a life-threatening infection that would require immediate emergency surgery to rectify the problem and basically save my life. I spent the next few months in hospital. It was during lockdown. For months, due to strict Covid restrictions, I was not allowed any visitors including my fiance and my then 10-month-old daughter. It was physically and mentally a very difficult time, not to mention traumatic having to spend so long in ICU." Mark revealed that he was discharged from hospital in December 2020 but has since grappled with chronic health issues. He elaborated: "In late 2021, I became very ill in Newcastle before a concert and ended up back in AandE, this time being told I had pneumonia. I was told I had to go straight home to recover and regrettably miss the rest of the concerts that December. I was referred to a consultant who told me I needed more surgery which I went ahead with in May 2022 meaning I was forced to miss more of The Wild Dreams tour. "Three months after that surgery, I tried my best to soldier on for you guys and to go back on tour but unfortunately the physical demands of the concerts and extensive travel were proving too much for me. I developed a very large 'incisional hernia' and I was told that I needed further surgery to fix it. This would be my fourth major surgery since the start of it all, but I had no option." Fortunately, his most recent surgery was successful, however, Mark still needs time to recover. "It is with the utmost level of regret that I must now temporarily stand down from all Westlife touring until a time that I have had the chance to fully recover from the turbulent journey I have been through as an individual," he confessed. "Believe me, I wish things could be different! I would like to thank you so very much for your support and understanding of me and my health over the past few years." He expressed his gratitude towards his family and medical team for their support during his health struggles. Mark went on: "To Shane, Kian and Nicky, I love you three and I know you'll knock it out of the park. I'll be there with you in spirit for each and every show whilst you continue to fly the Westlife flag around the world." Openly acknowledging his current condition, he confided: "But for now, I have to make the right decision for my health and wellbeing, for my family, and for myself as a person. Please don't worry. Sending the most positive vibes in your direction, I will see you very soon beautiful people! WESTLIFE FOREVER! Love, Mark Feehily xx." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!

Richard Madeley opens up on grief after father 'died on the spot'
Richard Madeley has opened up on the moment his father died, saying he 'had a heart attack on the spot' weeks after his wedding Good Morning Britain graced the telly again on Thursday (12 June), as presenters Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid served up another packed edition of the ITV breakfast programme. The dynamic duo delivered a raft of headlines and news updates to ITV audiences. They also welcomed Emmerdale's Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, for a heartfelt live chat. Lisa talked about her character's current dramas in the soap, alongside touching on her personal battles with loss, mentioning the passing of both her mother and past Strictly Come Dancing partner Robin Windsor. This poignant discussion led Richard to share his own heart-wrenching memory of his dad's sudden demise in 1977, which occurred just days after he wed Lynda Hooley. Reflecting on that time, Richard shared: "I remember when my father died. He died on the spot, had a heart attack when he was 49. Huge shock. I was a breakfast producer then, a radio producer." He recounted the difficult period following his father's death: "I remember I had a week off to come to terms with it. After the funeral, I went in, and the guy that I worked with didn't say a word. He didn't say, 'how are you, or what happened', he obviously felt it was best not to talk about it." He continued, expressing understanding yet disagreement with his colleague's reaction: "I don't blame him for that. He couldn't have been more wrong. You want people to come up to you and talk to you. You need that trigger to talk." Moreover, Thursday's episode saw them join forces with their colleague Richard Arnold, who came bearing the latest scoops in showbiz and television, reports the Manchester Evening News. During his segment, Richard paid homage to the legendary musician Brian Wilson following the announcement of his passing on 11 June. Brian was a founding member of the iconic Beach Boys. The lead singer and co-founder of the band died at the age of 82, with his cause of death yet to be disclosed. "A real pop pioneer. He co-founded one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, the Beach Boys, rivalling The Beatles," Richard shared with his audience. He also reminisced about his own discovery of the Beach Boys back in the 1970s, admitting he played their records "constantly" and was "very much a Beach Boys fan".

Genius Game fans make the same demand to ITV Following the conclusion of the series last night, fans of the programme quickly took to social media to demand ITV renew it for a second season. The future of the show has yet to be confirmed either way, although Daily Mail reported back in May that it had been reduced to just one episode a week because of 'abysmal' ratings - so it doesn't look good. One fan wrote: 'Has Genius Game been perfect? Well, no! But for a first series it's been pretty strong despite the glaring issues. It's a shame we won't be getting a second series because I really feel this could be something huge if they were given the chance to grow and change.' Another echoed this and added: 'Despite its flaws (I actually found this finale to be the weakest episode) I really enjoyed Genius Game! I wish people gave it a chance as it did get better and it did have some genuinely 'genius' gameplay which was incredibly exciting to watch. Shame it'll never get a Season 2…' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad A person said: 'Please ITV give this show a second series, one of the best reality competition shows out there.'
