New Delhi [India], May 11 (ANI): National Technology Day, celebrated on May 11 every year, commemorates the momentous events of this day back in 1998, when India conducted successful nuclear tests under Operation Shakti, and saw the maiden flight of the indigenously developed Hansa-3 aircraft.
In recognition of these achievements, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared May 11 as National Technology Day.
Over the years, National Technology Day has evolved into a flagship occasion for honouring scientific excellence, showcasing industrial innovations, and reinforcing the partnership between science, society, and industry.
Scientific temperament in India has increased over the years - from space to telecom, semiconductors to AI, biotechnology to fintechs.

Shubham, according to eyewitness accounts shared with the family, stood in front of the attackers without fear and declared his identity – 'I am a Hindu." He was shot point-blank in the head. 'He took the first bullet, but saved many lives," said his father. 'His courage was not ordinary – it was heroic. His presence of mind gave others those crucial few seconds to run and survive," his father said. During his address in Kanpur later in the day, Prime Minister Modi referred to the incident and said, 'In the cowardly attack in Pahalgam, our son from Kanpur, Shubham Dwivedi, became a victim of brutality," the PM said. 'But the pain and fury of our daughters like Alshanya (Shubham's wife) has echoed in the form of 'Operation Sindoor'. The world has seen that fury," the PM further said during his address. Since the attack, the family has made only one request to the government – that Shubham be officially recognised as a martyr. However, on his demand, Shubham's father said that he met the PM just to express his gratitude for 'Operation Sindoor'. 'It was not a suitable time to raise the demand," he said. Initially, the Dwivedi family had raised the demand that Shubham's sacrifice should be honoured, for the sake of every Indian who believes in dharma and courage. Alshanya has been inconsolable since the tragedy. In her tearful exchange with the Prime Minister, she too thanked the PM for his visit and said those responsible should be punished. Shubham was cremated with full state honours on April 24 in his native village, an event attended by Uttar Pradesh cabinet ministers Yogendra Upadhyay and Rakesh Sachan. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath later visited the Dwivedi home personally and promised 'every possible support" to the bereaved family. The attack in Pahalgam claimed 26 lives, including that of a Nepali tourist. The Dwivedis maintain that their son was targeted for his religious identity. Punjab, Haryana To Hold Security Drills Under 'Operation Shield' Tomorrow
Chandigarh: The states of Punjab and Haryana will carry out state-wide mock drills on Saturday under the nationwide exercise "Operation Shield", officials announced on Friday. The drills will include sirens, blackouts, and emergency scenarios designed to test the readiness of local authorities and citizens in case of attacks or disasters. Punjab's Special Director General of Police, Sanjeev Kalra, said the exercise would involve all districts and simulate large-scale emergency situations starting at 6 pm. Kalra said, "The mock drill is a part of Operation Shield and is being conducted in all districts of the bordering states on the Western border. The mock drill will be conducted by 6 pm tomorrow. " He added that a detailed meeting had already been held with the district administrations to prepare for the exercise. As part of the drill, sirens will be sounded and blackouts will be enforced to mimic real-life emergency conditions. "Blackout measures, rescue measures, fire services are a part of the mock representatives of the armed forces will also be involved in it," Kalra told ANI. In neighbouring Haryana, similar preparations are being made. Haryana Joint Secretary Sunita Mishra said that mock drills will begin at 5 pm on Saturday and follow guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). A total of 32,000 volunteers will take part across the state. "The mock drill will be conducted throughout Haryana on 31st May. We will also be following the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)...The mock drill will prepare us for any future contingencies...32,000 volunteers will also participate in the mock are training and briefing these activities will be done after 5 pm," she said. Earlier, the civil defence mock drill, scheduled for May 29, has been postponed due to administrative reasons. However, the dates for the same are yet to be announced. A statement released by the Gujarat Information Department read, "It is hereby intimated that the Civil Defence Exercise 'Operation Shield', which was planned to be held on May 29, 2025, is hereby postponed due to administrative reasons. It is requested that necessary directions to all the Controllers of Civil Defence and other stakeholders may be issued accordingly. Next dates for the exercise shall be issued subsequently." Additionally, the civil defence exercise has also been postponed in Rajasthan and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Earlier on Wednesday, as per the orders from the Government of India and under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, a civil defence exercise was scheduled to be conducted in Gujarat on Thursday at 5:00 PM. Regarding the Operation Shield mock drill, Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department (Gujarat), Jayanti Ravi, on Wednesday, virtually reviewed preparations made by the district administration. Along with this, she also gave necessary instructions to all the District Collectors for the successful implementation of a mock drill. Further, Jayanti Ravi said that during this exercise, various actions like ensuring the readiness of the local administration regarding civil security; taking the services of young volunteers like NCC, NSS, Bharat Scout and Guide; setting up a hotline between the Air Force and the Civil Security Control Room regarding enemy aircraft and missile attacks; activating the air raid siren; ensuring complete darkness and ensuring public safety and their property will be taken. Operation Sindoor targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation was a retaliatory response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, including one Nepalese national.

Adani Energy Solutions bags Rs 1,660 crore transmission project in Maharashtra
Ahmedabad: Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) on Friday said it has won a Rs 1,660 crore inter-state transmission project in Maharashtra. The project scope includes the establishment of 3,000 megavolt-amperes (MVA) of substations capacity, besides other related transmission infrastructure, taking AESL's overall transmission network to 26,696 ckm (circuit kilometres) and 93,236 MVA of transformation capacity. AESL, India's largest private transmission and distribution company and part of the globally diversified Adani portfolio, said it is scheduled to commission the project by January 2028. The project, housed under the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission Ltd, will help evacuate 1.5 GW of green power from upcoming hydro Pumped Storage Projects (PSP) in the region and will help meet demand from Mumbai and surrounding areas. The project SPV has formally been transferred to AESL. AESL won this Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) project under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism, and REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) was the bid process coordinator. With this order win, AESL's transmission orderbook now stands at Rs 61,600 crore, informed the company. Adani Energy Solutions reported an impressive 103 per cent annual profit after tax (PAT) growth in FY25 at an all-time high of Rs 2,427 crore, as the company posted 87 per cent PAT growth at Rs 714 crore in Q4 (January-March). The Adani Group company also showed strong growth of 42 per cent (year-on-year) in its total income at Rs 24,447 crore in FY25, which is the highest ever is driven by the contributions from the recently commissioned transmission projects, robust energy sales in Mumbai and Mundra utilities and contribution from the smart metering business. During the March quarter, the company secured two new transmission projects -- Navinal (Mundra) Phase I Part B1 and Mahan Transmission Ltd.
