Tree House Brewing Is The Largest Brewery You've Never Heard Of
One of the many patios at Tree House Brewing in Charlton, MA.
On a Saturday afternoon, trying to get into Tree House Brewing Company's Charlton, Massachusetts main facility to buy their beer, coffee, spirits, canned cocktails and NA seltzers can feel a bit like being at Disney World or waiting to get into a VIP club. People with dollies (the brewery itself provides commercial grade dollies for use) carry multiple cases of beers to their cars and those cases can be upwards of $120 each for 24 beers. The line to pick up beer can stretch for a long way inside along the side of the balcony that overlooks the brewhouse and canning facility. Tree House does not sell its beer to bars or beer shops; they have seven locations to pick up their drinks in three states. Their beer is sometimes available at New England Patriots home games at Gillette Stadium in special 19.2 oz. cans. They also will have a beer garden at the PGA Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CT on June 16-22 next to the 14th hole.
The 'about us' on their Youtube Page calls themselves, 'the largest direct-to-consumer brewery on Earth.'
Tree House (named after the tree house on their first property) opened in 2011 in the town of Brimfield, MA before moving to Monson, MA, a town close to the Connecticut border. Tree House outgrew that spot as well with lines stretching for hours just to buy to-go beer, especially of their New England style IPAs.
Julius, their most popular flagship IPA, quickly became what every beer geek was talking about in New England and beyond. First brewed in 2012, it was one of the first hazy IPAs (also called New England IPA or NEIPA thanks in part to Julius) that eschewed high hop bitterness for a more sweet, fuller palate along with bursting citrus and tropical flavors that come from using the hops later in the boil/fermentation process. 13 years later, hazy IPAs are now one of the most popular beer styles in the world.

Seeing a need to expand, the brewery built its flagship $18.5 million Charlton location in 2017 and then expanded, first in Woodstock, CT in 2020 where they make hard cider and also operate a small tasting room. Tree House then expanded to Sandwich, MA on the vacationland area of Cape Cod in 2021. Then in 2022 to Central Massachusetts with its sprawling Deerfield, MA location which hosts concerts with big performers like Gary Clark Jr. and Trampled by Turtles. They then bought the Tewksbury Country Club in Tewksbury, MA just north of Boston in 2022 and first turned it into an 'outpost' go-to pick up spot and then opened the full tasting room in June 2023.
In 2024, Tree House created a pick up location and kiosk in the Prudential Central mall in the heart of Boston which also has a seasonal beer garden open Wednesday to Saturday. Recently, in early 2025, they opened their first taproom location in the resort town of Saratoga Springs, NY—a 23,000 sq. ft. tasting facility. Sandwich, Tewksbury, Deerfield, Saratoga all serve pizza.
The brewery also has a thriving YouTube page (46,000+ subscribers) where Tree House Brewing Company's owner and CEO Nathan Lanier taste tests macro lagers and other beverages, showcases hop picking trips to New Zealand and shows off his tricked out Tree House camper van. Lanier himself has an affable, bro-ish air on camera and clearly enjoys making these videos. Tree House Brewing Company as well has almost 250,000 Instagram followers. Despite this fame, many casual drinkers may not be familiar with Tree House due to their disrupter type direct-to-consumer approach.
A customer uses a brewery provided dolly to carry his haul to his car during a Wednesday afternoon at Tree House Brewing Company in Charlton, MA.
Their flagship location and brewery is based in Charlton, MA, an easy stopover off the Massachusetts Turnpike in Central Massachusetts 56 miles west of Boston. At any time, the 53,000 sq. ft. facility is open seven days a week. Food trucks outside serve customers or many patrons bring a picnic lunch or dinner to snack on.
I went on a Wednesday afternoon on a beautiful sunny June day, which I recommend as weekends tend to be too chaotic. The crowd was subdued with many dogs on leash (the place is very dog friendly), people of all ages quietly looking at the phones/working or young couples with strollers talking under the shade of the wide umbrellas that dot the area.
Once inside, there are two bars, one that caters to IPAs and stouts and the 'classics bar' which serves lagers and other classic beer styles like brown ales or English styles. Although known for IPAs, Tree House Brewing Company's popularity allows them to expand to a full range of classic beer styles as well as rarer, less brewed beers like the indigenous California common to a full complement of smoked lagers. The IPA and stout bar has 35 beers on draft while the classics bar has 38 beers. A 16 oz. pilsner dry hopped with Chinook was $9. I don't know of any other brewery in the world that has 72 of their own offerings on draft at any given time.
The brewhouse which supplies the beer for Tree House's various taprooms. In 2023, the brewery made just shy of 40,000 barrels. This would make them one of the 100 biggest breweries in the U.S. Most small breweries in America make less than 3000 BBLs.
To order beer to go, you can order on your phone via their website or order off the few electronic kiosks just inside the front door. The to-go options are massive with 23 different double IPAs to choose from! The list is a dizzying array of over 100 different beers to choose from and that doesn't include the canned coffee, canned cocktails and other drinks!
So if you are in the area, Tree House Brewing Company at any of their locations is worth a visit. Their star continues to rise and the future looks bright for this direct-to-consumer craft brand.

Billy Ray Cyrus pens emotional Father's Day post as family tension lingers
Billy Ray Cyrus reminisced Sunday on his early days of fatherhood, and celebrated his own dad with a tribute shared online to commemorate Father's Day. The "Achy Breaky Heart" singer posted a number of family photos on Instagram as he marked the holiday with a song featuring his daughter, Noah Cyrus. Cyrus, 63, included a recent image with his superstar daughter, Miley Cyrus, on the heels of a recent reunion. "'My Grandfather told my Father'… and luckily he taught me ….when your [sic] lost …. 'Stand Still,'" Cyrus captioned the clip. "Happy Father's Day to everyone ! Mothers… sisters ….brothers ….friends included!" A carousel of images featured the father-of-five with his kids, although it's unclear if sons Trace or Christopher were included in the roundup. Cyrus was previously married to Tish Cyrus for 30 years and adopted her older children, Trace and Brandi, before they welcomed three of their own kids: Miley, Braison Cyrus and Noah Cyrus. The singer is also father to Christopher Cyrus with ex-girlfriend Kristin Luckey. The "Wrecking Ball" singer broke her silence last month over a rumored rift with her family. One day after sharing a birthday tribute to her brother Braison, Miley posted an Instagram story after social media users had pointed out her mother, Tish Cyrus, unfollowed her earlier in the week. "I rarely comment on rumors but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us," Miley wrote. "She's my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn't know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental and uninteresting. "My dad and I have had our challenges over the years. Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family." She delved more into the state of her relationship with her father and the difficulties she faced pursuing sobriety. When the New York Times asked if she's ever talked to her father about her own experience with sobriety, she said, "I think he has a harder time enjoying being sober. I kind of enjoy it. I think my dad is somebody that's like, 'That would be real nice right now.' He calls it a good bad habit. Things that make you feel good, but you know they're bad." She added, "So I think for him, I grew up in a different generation. My dad grew up between the '60s and the '80s. It wasn't normal for you to have your psychiatrist on speed dial. So I think my dad just really didn't have the support." Miley said they don't "avoid" the subject, "but it's not really something that's our table talk." "Me and my dad like to talk about music and movies," she said. "It's not something that's ever been our focus, but it probably should be. We probably should talk about that at some point." In January, Billy Ray stumbled onstage during a performance at President Donald Trump's inauguration celebration. Afterward, fans and family members voiced concerns about the singer, questioning his health and stability. Shortly after, Trace wrote in an open letter to his father, "You're not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it." He added, "I love you Dad. We haven't talked in a while but I'm over a year and half clean from alcohol. Guess what? I feel amazing. I don't know what you're struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I'd love to help you if you would open up and receive the help." Last week, Trace doubled down with a scathing critique of his adopted father. "This man is so hungry for fame, it's pathetic," Trace wrote on Instagram. "He really flew to Italy for a fashion show but wouldn't come to LA for Mammie's funeral while he was still married to my mom. Even after his daughter got him a 60k private jet like he demanded then he still didn't come after the plane was paid for. "You're the lamest man to ever walk planet earth. Honestly embarrassed to have ever considered you my idol. The best thing to come from your downfall is it made me go into beast mode. I refuse to be a washed up, delusional, evil person when I'm old like you. Christ is King. Get right with God. You need it." A representative for Billy Ray did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Meghan Markle Shares Rare Footage of Prince Harry with Their 2 Kids to Celebrate Father's Day: ‘Our Favorite Guy'
Meghan Markle celebrated Prince Harry on Father's Day 2025 by sharing an Instagram video tribute featuring rare family footage of him with their two kids The Duke and Duchess of Sussex share son Prince Archie, 6, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 4 Father's Day falls a few weeks after Prince Harry said his father King Charles "won't speak to me because of this security stuff" after he lost a key legal appeal to restore his U.K. protectionMeghan Markle is showing love for Prince Harry on Father's Day. On June 15, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared an Instagram video tribute featuring rare family footage of her husband, 40, with their two kids. Harry and Meghan, who marked their seventh wedding anniversary in May, share son Prince Archie, 6, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 4. 'The best,' Meghan captioned her post. 'Happy Father's Day to our favorite guy 💕.' The post was set to 'Have It All' By Jason Mraz. In much of the footage, Harry is seen laughing and playing with Archie and Lilibet, following after Archie as he rides a bike and holding his children in their younger years. The Duchess of Sussex rejoined social media at the start of the year and uses her personal Instagram handle @meghan to share updates about her professional ventures, her family's private world and her children's milestones. Prince Harry and Meghan are raising Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet outside of the spotlight in Montecito, Calif., after stepping back from their royal roles in the U.K. in 2020. Both kids are growing up with Harry's red hair. The Duke of Sussex has said he believes Archie and Lili's red tresses come from his later mother Princess Diana's side of the family, explaining that the Spencer genes are "very, very strong." Harry shared the insight while appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2023, where he said, "Definitely my mum," after being asked if he sees any family members in his kids. "The Spencer gene is very, very strong," Harry said on the show. "I actually really, genuinely thought at the beginning of my relationship [with Meghan] that should this go the distance and we have kids, that there's no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife's genes, but I was wrong! Go gingers." Harry and Meghan recently took their kids to Disneyland to celebrate Lili's fourth birthday on June 4, a trip reminiscent of Princess Diana bringing Prince William and Prince Harry to Disney World in Florida in 1993. The Duchess of Sussex's weekend plans changed after the Los Angeles museum gala she was set to attend on June 14 was postponed amid protests in the city against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. Meghan was set to be honored at the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County's Night of Wonder gala and recognized for her work championing women and underserved communities, and she was expected to deliver remarks. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are celebrating Father's Day as Prince Harry navigates his relationship with his own father, King Charles. The rift first became public when Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal roles in the U.K. in 2020, and the stakes were raised after Harry lost a pivotal legal appeal to restore his state-funded security in the U.K. on May 2. Can't get enough of PEOPLE's Royals coverage? to get the latest updates on Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and more! Prince Harry has long maintained that as head of state, his father could help reinstate the essential protection he seeks. He told the BBC in an explosive interview that King Charles "won't speak to me because of this security stuff" but that he still wishes to reconcile. "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore," the Duke of Sussex said then. "Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has," he continued, alluding to King Charles' cancer diagnosis announced in 2024 and continued treatment. "He won't speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile." The palace has consistently denied the idea that the King has the power to restore the elite security Harry seeks. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex brought their children back to the U.K. just once following their U.S. move for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. In a May 2 BBC interview, Harry also said that he "can't see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point" without the key security. Sabrina Carpenter Got Real About What She Learned From The Olivia Rodrigo "Drivers License" Drama
It feels like an eternity since Olivia Rodrigo released her breakthrough single "Drivers License." (It's been about four and a half years.) If you remember all the hubbub behind the song, you probably also recall plenty of speculation that the song — especially the lyric 'You're probably with that blonde girl, who always made me doubt" — was addressing Olivia's split with Joshua Bassett, who was rumored to be dating the one and only Sabrina Carpenter after the breakup. Monica Schipper/GA / The Hollywood Reporter via Getty Images, Jamie McCarthy / WireImage Related: Matthew Perry Gifted Lisa Kudrow A Prop From "Friends" After Filming Wrapped — Now 20 Years Later She Found A Note Inside It Of course, a lot has changed since then — not least the fact that Sabrina has now become equally as big of a pop star as Olivia. So it's funny — and a bit shocking, honestly — that the topic of the "Drivers License" drama came up with Sabrina in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. Related: 12 Celebs Who Came Out At A Young Age, And 13 Who Came Out Way Later In Life 'I don't think about it, ever,' she said in a deadpan voice when asked about the discourse — after adding that she "didn't really intentionally" try to change any public perception she may have been facing as a result. 'I've tried being brunette, and it didn't look good on me, so this is what it is," she also joked. But that's not all! Sabrina also got real about what she learned regarding the whole sitch. 'All I knew was that it wasn't going to stop me from doing what I loved, ever,' she said. 'That's kind of how I've always felt." "Sometimes, it's about how you are able to be resilient. What that era taught me was to just trust myself, and trust that everything is going to work out the way it's supposed to, and trust that relationships are put into your life for a reason. You might not see that in the moment, but you see it later.' You can read the entire interview here.
