Temporary traffic diversion on Al Qudra Road
Starting June 22, 2025,
Under this diversion plan, the traffic signal at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and the road connecting Arabian Ranches to Dubai Studio City will be removed. Traffic will be rerouted away from the intersection, creating a free-flowing corridor between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street.
Additionally, two new signal-free U-turns will be constructed to facilitate smooth traffic movement and minimize delays.
The RTA is urging motorists to plan their trips ahead of time, depart early, and avoid peak hours whenever possible during the diversion period to ensure a smoother journey.
Major intersection upgrades in Jumeirah and Al Mina areas
In another infrastructure milestone, RTA has completed improvement works at the intersections of Jumeirah Street and Al Mina Street with Sheikh Rashid Street. This project is part of a broader initiative to ease traffic congestion in central areas and improve travel time across multiple directions.
The upgraded intersections feature a series of bridges and tunnels spanning more than 13 kilometres, designed to serve over one million residents in the area. The improvements are expected to increase the vehicle capacity from 6,400 to 24,000 cars per hour, a near fourfold boost.
The enhancements will also significantly reduce travel time in the corridor, from 32 minutes to just 12 minutes, improving connectivity and commuter experience in and around Dubai's coastal districts.

Development of Al Jamayel Street
In line with its vision for a seamless, connected Dubai, the RTA has launched the development of Al Jamayel Street, formerly known as Garn Al Sabkha Street. The road stretches across seven kilometres, linking key residential and commercial hubs including Jumeirah Lakes Towers, The Gardens, and Al Furjan.
The project is designed to enhance road efficiency along the service routes parallel to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, one of Dubai's busiest transport arteries. By improving surface intersections and expanding key roads, the RTA aims to enhance mobility for both residents and daily commuters.
As part of the upgrades, four new bridges spanning a total of 2,874 metres will be constructed. These bridges are expected to increase road capacity to 17,600 vehicles per hour, significantly easing congestion during peak times.
In terms of travel time, the project promises substantial reductions:
From Al Jamayel Street to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road: reduced from 20 to 12 minutes
From Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Al Yalayis Street: reduced from 21 to 7 minutes

3 hours to Dubai, 12 hours to reach airport: Torrential rains delay UAE-bound travellers

With torrential rains lashing parts of south and western India, UAE residents returning from their summer break are battling floods, road blocks and hours of delay just to reach the airport. Panic has gripped many families as district administrations issue red alerts, reservoirs release excess water, local trains get cancelled and roads remain under knee-deep water. 'As soon as the authorities said water would be released from the Linganamakki reservoir, I knew things could go out of hand,' said Asif Sheikh, a Dubai-based sales supervisor who travelled back from Honnavara, Uttara Kannada in Karnataka. 'Normally, it takes me about 3-and-a-half hours to reach Mangalore airport. This time it took me 7 hours. I left a day early just so I don't miss my flight,' said Asif. He arrived at the airport nearly eight hours before departure and spent the night waiting to board his IndiGo flight to Dubai. 'It was raining heavily while I was taking the road journey. We had to drive slowly and carefully with full alertness. At some towns, the roads were blocked. Back home, it's still raining heavily.' he added. 'We don't usually leave so early, but this time we had no choice. Missing the flight would mean shelling out another Dh2,000 to Dh3,000 for a new ticket,' he said. It is not only travellers from southern India who are experiencing hard times. The situation in western India, especially Maharashtra, is also alarming. Mumbai has been hit by torrential rains over the past few days which has delayed dozens of flights. A red alert was issued by authorities on Tuesday and Wednesday. According to Flight Radar 24, over 150 departures and nearly 100 arrivals were delayed on Tuesday alone. The airport has issued advisory on their website stating that they are operational and asking passengers to arrive early and stay in touch with their airlines. Abhishek Patil, a production manager at a food company in Abu Dhabi, left his hometown of Ratnagiri with his wife and three children in panic mode. 'When we heard the roads were getting blocked and even local trains were being cancelled, we decided to reach Mumbai a day early,' he said. 'We stayed at a hotel, but getting from the hotel to the airport took us nearly four hours due to waterlogged roads. There were cars breaking down on the way, people pushing their vehicles.' His flight to Abu Dhabi was delayed by 2 hours, and the family ended up spending around 10 hours at the airport. 'Our children were exhausted, but at least we reached. In such weather, anything can go wrong." Even those living in Mumbai are struggling to reach the airport on time. Kruthika Nair, a PR executive living in Dombivli and working in Dubai, said she left home 10 hours before her SpiceJet flight to Dubai. 'Local trains had stopped, roads were submerged. The 45-km trip to the airport took me six hours,' she said. 'I couldn't eat or drink much on the way because I was under stress that I wouldn't make it to the airport,' added Nair. Although her flight departed only an hour late, Nair said it was one of the most stressful days of her life. 'This was one of the most difficult travels of my life. One lesson I learned is not to travel to Mumbai during the monsoon,' said Nair. With more heavy showers forecast and red alerts in place, travelers from rain-hit Indian states say they are leaving home at least 8 to 10 hours early to avoid missing their flights back to the UAE.

TIME Hotels reports impressive 6.3% summer 2025 occupancy growth

Strong summer performance attributed to strategic market approach and range of guest-centric initiatives Dubai, United Arab Emirates: TIME Hotels, the UAE-born hospitality brand, has announced positive summer 2025 results, recording significant year-on-year growth in occupany, Average Daily Rates (ADR), and Revenue Per Available Room (RevPar), underscoring the company's strategic focus on high-growth markets and highlighting the region's increasing appeal as a year-round tourism destination. During June this year, TIME Hotels saw a notable 6.3% rise in occupancy compared to the previous year, indicating increased demand during the quieter summer months. Year-to-date, the group has achieved an overall 16.6% growth in occupancy compared to the same period in 2024, demonstrating the company's ability to sustain volume during off-peak travel periods. Furthermore, the company has achieved double-digit growth in ADR and RevPar figures, supported by a pricing strategy implemented to boost volume and value. Mohamed Awadalla, CEO of TIME Hotels, said: "Our performance this summer demonstrates our strategic focus on flexibility and guest-oriented offerings. By recognising new guest segments and proactively responding with customised products and experiences, we continue to strengthen our competitive edge. 'Moving forward, we remain committed to solidifying our position as the preferred hotel operator among travellers, as well as supporting the Middle East's reputation as an appealing, year-round travel destination." Analysis of guest booking patterns across TIME Hotels' portfolio has identified two key travel segments driving growth. Summer 2025 has experienced significant increases in bookings from families, especially those from GCC countries and other regional markets, who are increasingly favouring long-stay packages, interconnected rooms, and bundled offers that include activities for children, dining incentives, and shopping discounts. The company also reported increased interest from younger travellers, including Gen Z and millennials. These guests are typically prioritising shorter, experience-rich city breaks, digital booking convenience, and immersive local activities. The brand's properties in urban centres such as Dubai and Sharjah have particularly resonated with this demographic, capitalising on a strong social media presence and innovative, contactless hospitality solutions. The sustained growth of TIME Hotels aligns with broader regional trends, positioning the Middle East as a year-round destination. Enhanced indoor attractions, comprehensive event calendars, favourable summer hotel rates, and proactive government-driven tourism campaigns have collectively increased the region's appeal. Further highlighting the region's appeal as a tourism destination throughout the year, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) recently announced that the emirate welcomed 9.88 million international overnight visitors between January and June 2025, a 6 per cent increase from the same period in 2024. 'At TIME Hotels, we will continue to capitalise on the numerous factors attracting visitors to this region through strategic marketing initiatives and customised guest experiences that directly respond to changing traveller preferences,' said Awadalla. 'With our robust summer performance serving as a solid foundation, we are in a strong position to maintain this growth trajectory,' he concluded. TIME Hotels currently operates 17 hotels throughout the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, with over 3,000 keys, and has 12 properties and 5,000 keys in the pipeline, including properties across Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Morocco, and the Indian Ocean. The expansion into these countries is supported by the strategic rollout of the group's expanding portfolio of brands. These include VIVI by TIME, a bold lifestyle brand; HALO by TIME, a premium upscale offering; and Rotella, TIME Hotels' luxury concept designed to provide exclusivity, sophistication, and culturally enriched hospitality. The company is also repositioning its residential offerings across three distinct tiers, TIME Residences Classic, Executive, and Premium, to serve both long- and short-stay guests.
