Last Updated:
The septet, comprising RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook, has broken barriers no one thought was possible for a K-pop group.
BTS isn't just another K-pop band– they are a global phenomenon. From starting as underdogs over a decade ago to now being one of the most renowned musicians in the world, the seven members have come a long way. The septet, comprising RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook, has broken barriers no one thought was possible for a K-pop group.
Before BTS reunites following a hiatus of nearly three years due to their mandatory military service, check out these 10 unforgettable moments that prove their global dominance and showcase their inspiring journey in the industry.
Their First Major Win At MAMA 2016
No one could have imagined that BTS would win an award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, let alone the title of Artist of the Year. That moment back in 2016 was a huge win for the septet. They came from a small company, worked their way to the top and finally got recognition for their hard work.
First Billboard Win
In 2017, BTS became the first K-pop group to win a Billboard Music Awards. They bagged the Top Social Artist honour, all thanks to their massive fandom called the ARMYs and their strong online presence. This moment proved that BTS was here to stay.
Love Yourself: Tear Tops Billboard Chart
BTS' sixth studio album, Love Yourself: Tear, made history as the first Korean-language album to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2018. It was not just a win for the septet but for Korean music on the global stage. It proved that language is not a barrier if the music has merit.
BTS At The United Nations
The septet partnered with UNICEF to launch the 'Love Myself" campaign in 2018. Through it, BTS wanted to spread the message of self-love and hope. RM, the group's leader, even spoke at the United Nations, encouraging young people to believe and accept themselves.
Dynamite Scores Another Major Win On Billboard Chart
Dynamite is BTS' first-ever full English song. Released during the COVID-19 pandemic, it became a beacon of hope and lifted spirits during those uncertain times. The single was loved so much that the group scored their first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
First Grammy Nomination
Dynamite became such a hit across the world that BTS received a nomination in the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" category at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. With this, they became the first Korean pop act to be nominated for one. This was a dream come true not just for the group but also for their fans.
BTS' Butter Broke Records
In 2021, when BTS released their second English-language single, Butter, it once again took over the world. The song did not just debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart but stayed at the same position for 10 weeks straight. Butter even broke some major records on YouTube.
BTS' Appointment As Special Presidential Envoys
The South Korean government appointed BTS as a special envoy for public diplomacy in 2021. They spoke at the UN General Assembly to represent the youth and promote sustainability and inclusivity. This unique blend of entertainment and politics showcased their impact as cultural ambassadors.
Chapter 2 Of BTS
In 2022, BTS released Proof, a nod to their journey in the industry so far. During FESTA '22, the septet announced that they would embark on their solo careers while still remaining a group. This transition marked a significant change in BTS but, at the same time, showcased their unity.
BTS' Speech At The White House
In June 2022, BTS was invited to the White House to speak about anti-Asian hate and racial discrimination. They talked about the importance of inclusion and respect. It was a powerful moment, where BTS showcased how to use their platform for the greater good.
As for their reunion, BTS' Jin and J-Hope are already out of their military service, RM and V will be discharged on June 10, followed by Jimin and Jungkook on June 11. Suga will reportedly complete his mandatory service on June 21.

How China's Labubu became Pop Mart's $1.8 billion plush powerhouse
Labubu, the plush toy from China's Pop Mart is a social media darling, but the toothy little monsters are far from an overnight success. Having appeared a decade ago, Labubus may have finally cemented their place in the collectible toy market for years to come. The Labubu, by artist and illustrator Kasing Lung , first appeared with pointed ears and pointy teeth, in three picture books inspired by Nordic mythology in 2015. In 2019, Lung struck a deal with Pop Mart, a company that caters to toy connoisseurs and influencers, to sell Labubu figurines. But it wasn't until Pop Mart started selling Labubu plush toys on key rings in 2023 that the toothy monsters suddenly seemed to be everywhere, including in the hands of Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and NBA star Dillon Brooks. K-pop singer Lisa of Blackpink began posting images of hers for her more than 100 million followers on Instagram and on TikTok, where Labubu pandemonium has broken out. There are 1.4 million #Labubu TikTok posts and counting, videos of fans unboxing them, showing styles inspired by them, and of course, Labubu cosplay. Fans have latched on to Labubu's mashup of play and fashion, making them accessories on handbags, backpacks and belts, or hanging them from car mirrors. Live Events "The character has evolved into a collectible and style symbol, resonating with fans who connect with its quirky aesthetic and unique backstory," Emily Brough, Popmart's head of IP licensing in the Americas, said. Labubu has been a bonanza for Pop Mart. Its revenue more than doubled in 2024 to 13.04 billion yuan ($1.81 billion), thanks in part to its elvish monster. Revenue from Pop Mart's plush toys soared more than 1,200% in 2024, nearly 22% of its overall revenue, according to the company's annual report. Aside from their ability to pique the interest of toy aficionados and fashionistas, Labubu latched on to the blind box phenomenon, where the purchaser does not know exactly which version of the plush toy they will get. And Pop Mart made sure there is a Labubu for everyone, regardless of income. Most are priced in a wide rage between $20 and $300, with certain collaborations or limited editions priced higher, according to Brough. Unlike many toys, Labubu devotees include a large number of adults. Buyers aged 18 and over drove a year-over-year increase of more than $800 million in the US toy market in 2024, according to market research firm Circana. Adult shoppers, mostly female, bought the toys for themselves. In 2025's first quarter, toy sales for those aged 18 and over rose 12% from the prior-year period. At $1.8 billion, adults also accounted for the highest spending among all age groups in the quarter. Like many retailers, Pop Mart is actively monitoring negotiations between the US and just about every one of its trading partners as prices may be impacted. The situation with China is at the forefront, with President Donald Trump saying on Friday that the country "violated" an agreement with the United States on trade talks. Right now Pop Mart, whose products are manufactured across Asia, says that it is continuously scaling production and expanding distribution across its online shop, retail stores and blind box vending machines to meet increasing demand.

What is micro-mance — the new relationship trend viral in 2025
Let's be honest. We are all romantics who are captivated by subtle displays of affection. However, with a lot of shady dating trends and patterns in swing, one doesn't want to fall victim to love bombing, benching, or breadcrumbing. Yikes! Suddenly, staying single until death may seem like a more peaceful option than dealing with heart-crushing trauma. But love is the essence of life, and one must not lose hope of finding the one that will light up your world once and forever. But before you jump into the dating pool again, recognize the little acts of love—like them knowing your favorite perfume, your habit of biting your lips when you're nervous, your craziness for K-pop, or a surprise 9 p.m. sundae plan. Sounds like butterflies and violins in the air? Well, this is what the new term micro-mance means! Let's understand it better: What is micro-mance? Before couples reach the romantic stage, they frequently pause and play it safe. Dramatic, large gestures are not always indicative of romance. Sharing small pleasures with one another is a wonderful way to show love. It appears that romance, competing with rom-coms, will return in 2025. Micro-mance includes all of the small gestures, such as sharing favorite music, creating playlists, and sending memes. Acts of love win over people who are romantics. More than half of women worldwide embrace romance and place a higher value on deep interactions than fleeting experiences, indicating a resurgence of romantic ideals. Why micro-mance is the best trend It doesn't hinder your day-to-day life People are beginning to realize that genuine romance doesn't require a spotlight in today's society, where life is sometimes hectic. It can be a part of whatever you do in your day without you needing to step up for a massive display of romance. You can share a simple song from your work desk with your boo and tell them it makes you think of them. Butterflies guaranteed! It is continuous Micro-mance highlights a continuous, steady romantic notion that is more genuine. When major events like vacations or parties could appear like infrequent highlights, micro-mancing creates a continuous tale of love. You can just surprise your love with their favorite latte before work, and your feelings for them will be heard loud and clear. Perfect for introverts Putting on a grand show may leave some people intimidated and embarrassed—it is not for everybody. Micro-mancing is perfect for introverts who like to keep their romance brewing under the lid. You don't look for an occasion Since love, after all, exists in the everyday, it is genuine, intimate, and doesn't need the ideal occasion. Simple gestures make it more relatable, and your partner may feel like they exist in your life every moment. How romantic! Easy on the pocket Micro-mancing may not need you to plan extravagant dinners or rent a yacht for your boo. Therefore, it is one pocket-friendly way of showing your love without running your bank account dry. It is more authentic, as micro-mance emphasizes a continuous, steady romantic idea. These acts don't require elaborate planning or significant expense.
