BTS' V logs 200m views with ‘Singularity' music video

V of BTS surpassed 200 million views on YouTube with the music video for his solo song 'Singularity,' according to label Big Hit Music on Wednesday. The R&B tune is the intro track from the band's third full album 'Love Yourself: Tear' from 2018. With his soulful vocals over a jazzy melody, it has become one of his signature solo works. It was the only K-pop entry on the annual best songs list published by The New York Times and The Guardian, and was one of the ten best songs of 2018 chosen by The Los Angeles Times. The single exceeded 300 million plays on Spotify in May and has topped the iTunes Top Songs Chart in 47 regions. Separately, V, along with RM and Jungkook, did a livestream with fans on Tuesday. The bandmates have been working on a new album in the US since early July.

Another Milestone Unlocked By BTS As This Music Video Crosses 200 Million Views

The song Singularity served as an intro to the K-pop supergroup's 2018 studio album, Love Yourself: Tear. BTS has hit yet another milestone with their music. Their 2018 release, Singularity, which is a part of their sixth studio album Love Yourself: Tear, just entered the 200 million club on YouTube. The track is a solo by BTS member V, also known as Kim Taehyung, and the music video features him alongside other background dancers. It was released on May 6, 2018. As reported by Soompi, the video titled 'BTS LOVE YOURSELF Tear 'Singularity' Comeback Trailer" hit 200 million views on YouTube on Thursday, July 10, at approximately 4:55 PM KST. The video served as an intro to the K-pop supergroup's 2018 studio album. The music video took over seven years to achieve this feat. Written by Charlie J. Perry and BTS' leader RM, Singularity was released a second time as part of the group's third compilation album, Love Yourself: Answer, in August 2018. Through the R&B song, V tells the story of love and loss. Speaking of BTS, the seven-member Korean boy band, comprising RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook, was on hiatus from 2022 due to their respective mandatory military service. In June of this year, the septet reunited after completing their duties. To take the excitement surrounding their return a notch higher, they announced the release of their first-ever live album, titled Permission to Dance on Stage – Live. Scheduled to drop on July 18, the album will feature performances from their Permission to Dance tour. Not only that, the K-pop group will be making their grand return as a unit next year. During a Weverse live, all the members confirmed that they have started working on a brand-new album, which will be released sometime between March and May in 2026. Moreover, to work on their new music, BTS even jetted off to the United States. They will be In Los Angeles for nearly two months for a special songwriting camp and will be working with international producers for their new album. BTS would be releasing a new full-length album, whose theme, music and direction are all personally planned by the septet. If all goes as planned, this would be their first full album in six years, since Map of the Soul: 7 in 2020, which was a follow-up to their 2019 extended play Map of the Soul: Persona. Following the release of their album, BTS will also embark on their much-awaited world tour. BTS isn't just another K-pop band– they are a global phenomenon. From starting as underdogs over a decade ago to now being one of the most renowned musicians in the world, the seven members have come a long way. The septet, comprising RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook, has broken barriers no one thought was possible for a K-pop group. Before BTS reunites following a hiatus of nearly three years due to their mandatory military service, check out these 10 unforgettable moments that prove their global dominance and showcase their inspiring journey in the industry. Their First Major Win At MAMA 2016 No one could have imagined that BTS would win an award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, let alone the title of Artist of the Year. That moment back in 2016 was a huge win for the septet. They came from a small company, worked their way to the top and finally got recognition for their hard work. First Billboard Win In 2017, BTS became the first K-pop group to win a Billboard Music Awards. They bagged the Top Social Artist honour, all thanks to their massive fandom called the ARMYs and their strong online presence. This moment proved that BTS was here to stay. Love Yourself: Tear Tops Billboard Chart BTS' sixth studio album, Love Yourself: Tear, made history as the first Korean-language album to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2018. It was not just a win for the septet but for Korean music on the global stage. It proved that language is not a barrier if the music has merit. BTS At The United Nations The septet partnered with UNICEF to launch the 'Love Myself" campaign in 2018. Through it, BTS wanted to spread the message of self-love and hope. RM, the group's leader, even spoke at the United Nations, encouraging young people to believe and accept themselves. Dynamite Scores Another Major Win On Billboard Chart Dynamite is BTS' first-ever full English song. Released during the COVID-19 pandemic, it became a beacon of hope and lifted spirits during those uncertain times. The single was loved so much that the group scored their first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. First Grammy Nomination Dynamite became such a hit across the world that BTS received a nomination in the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" category at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. With this, they became the first Korean pop act to be nominated for one. This was a dream come true not just for the group but also for their fans. BTS' Butter Broke Records In 2021, when BTS released their second English-language single, Butter, it once again took over the world. The song did not just debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart but stayed at the same position for 10 weeks straight. Butter even broke some major records on YouTube. BTS' Appointment As Special Presidential Envoys The South Korean government appointed BTS as a special envoy for public diplomacy in 2021. They spoke at the UN General Assembly to represent the youth and promote sustainability and inclusivity. This unique blend of entertainment and politics showcased their impact as cultural ambassadors. Chapter 2 Of BTS In 2022, BTS released Proof, a nod to their journey in the industry so far. During FESTA '22, the septet announced that they would embark on their solo careers while still remaining a group. This transition marked a significant change in BTS but, at the same time, showcased their unity. BTS' Speech At The White House In June 2022, BTS was invited to the White House to speak about anti-Asian hate and racial discrimination. They talked about the importance of inclusion and respect. It was a powerful moment, where BTS showcased how to use their platform for the greater good. As for their reunion, BTS' Jin and J-Hope are already out of their military service, RM and V will be discharged on June 10, followed by Jimin and Jungkook on June 11. Suga will reportedly complete his mandatory service on June 21. First Published:

BTS Doubles Up On A Billboard Chart In The Midst Of A Hiatus

BTS scores a pair of wins on the World Albums chart as Proof rises and Love Yourself: Tear returns, ... More even though the group is on hiatus. LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 03: (L-R) V, Suga, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Jimin and J-Hope of BTS attends the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 03, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic) BTS is still on hiatus, as several of its seven members continue to fulfill their mandatory military service in South Korea. Some have completed their time, while others remain enlisted, leaving the group unable to reunite in the studio, at least for the time being. Despite this pause, the band's devoted fanbase has continued to consume the septet's music. Listeners keep streaming, buying, and supporting the band's already-popular releases, keeping the band's name alive on various charts week after week. This time around, the K-pop favorites double up on one ranking and match with several other powerhouses on a tally the boy band has dominated many times before. BTS manages to double its total number of current wins on the World Albums chart, the Billboard tally that has long been a home for K-pop acts. The band fills two of the 25 available spaces on the list, which ranks the bestselling albums in the U.S. that are largely performed in a language other than English or Spanish. The group's compilation Proof improves this frame, climbing from No. 9 to No. 7. At the same time, an older release, Love Yourself: Tear, finds its way back to the ranking. That full-length reenters the chart at No. 23. Neither of BTS's present albums are new to the World Albums chart, and both have already spent time at No. 1. BTS has conquered the roster with many efforts throughout the years, and Proof and Love Yourself: Tear are among the most successful. Between the two, Love Yourself: Tear is the longer-charting. That project has now spent 208 weeks on the list, while Proof — a compilation made up of previous hits, fan favorites, and a few new cuts — has thus far racked up 147 frames on the tally. Released in 2022, Proof arrived as something of a celebration of BTS's incredible career up to that point. The triple-disc set includes dozens of songs from throughout the band's run, as well as a few fresh additions like 'Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),' which served as its lead single – and almost cracked the Hot 100's top 10. Love Yourself: Tear predates Proof by several years, as it arrived in 2018. The effort became a pivotal release for the band, featuring smash hits like 'Fake Love,' which helped solidify BTS's power and popularity in America, and earned the group the first-ever K-pop No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Only a few acts manage to claim more than one spot on the World Albums chart this week, and BTS ranks among them. The band joins three other musical names that fill a pair of positions apiece: fellow K-pop outfits Le Sserafim and Stray Kids, and Afrobeats icon Wizkid.
