Capt. Chowta objects to Home Minister making announcements without involving local elected representatives
In a statement here, Capt. Chowta said, 'It is absolutely undemocratic and disrespectful that without taking any of the people's representatives into consultation, the Home Minister has apparently 'taken stock' of this sensitive situation in coastal Karnataka.'
He also questioned the Congress government's shifting stance—from initially calling Suhas Shetty's murder a case of personal or gang rivalry to now branding it as 'communal.' 'Wasn't it the Congress government that first rushed to call the murder a case of personal rivalry and gang wars? Now suddenly, they're calling it 'communal.' What changed? Are they admitting Suhas was killed for being Hindu? If they have the courage, let them say it openly,' he said.
Capt. Chowta said, 'Because the painful truth is—Suhas, just like Praveen Nettar, Deepak Rao and so many of our karyakartas before him, was targeted and killed for being a Hindu Nationalist by fundamentalist forces.'
Instead of confronting the real threat, the government wants to do a cover-up job by branding the entire region as communal, the MP said adding it was not communal violence; but religious rivalry. He said, 'This is a battle between nationalism and fundamentalism—where the latter is emboldened by the Congress party's vote-bank politics and pseudo-secular policies.'

Questioning Mr. Parameshwara's announcement on anti-communal task force, Capt. Chowta drew parallels to the controversial Communal Violence Bill proposed by Sonia Gandhi. 'That Bill, in the name of communal harmony, sought to single out and target Hindu voices. This so-called task force smells no different—it reeks of the same appeasement agenda.' He warned that any attempt to impose such an agenda-driven force on the region will be firmly resisted.
