Fatima Sana Shaikh On Equation With Aamir Khan's Daughter Ira: ‘She Has A Big Heart'

Fatima Sana Shaikh shares that she turned to Ira Khan for therapy recommendations while looking for a therapist a few years ago.
Fatima Sana Shaikh's deep bond with Ira Khan is no secret. Several pictures of them from the latter's wedding created waves on social media. Now, speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Fatima shares her admiration for Aamir Khan's daughter. When Fatima decided to seek therapy a few years ago, she reached out to Ira for help. 'I did ask Ira for recommendations when I wanted to seek therapy. I reached out to others too because I've a lot of friends who seek therapy," she tells us.
Heaping praises on her, Fatima says, 'Ira is an incredible girl. She's very intelligent and talented. She has a very big heart and I just love her. She's a great girl. She's very giving." For the Dangal and Sam Bahadur actor, in fact, sisterhood is paramount. Her friendships with her co-stars Sanya Malhotra, Ratna Pathak Shah and Dia Mirza Rekhi aren't unheard of. 'These women have added so much to my life. I enjoy such relationships," she shares.
Slamming the perception that two women actors don't get along, Fatima states, 'Yeh toh nonsense hai! Isme gender ka kuch lena dena hai hi nahi. It doesn't matter what your gender is. It all depends on how confident and self-assured you're as a person. If you're insecure, you're insecure. If you're insecure, you wouldn't enjoy working with any co-actor because you would constantly be fighting to create your own space."
Fatima, who'll next be seen in Metro In Dino, reveals what drew her to her women peers and why she holds them close to her heart. 'I don't have any scenes with Neena (Gupta) ji and Koko (Konkona Sensharma. And with Sara (Ali Khan), I've just one scene. So, I can't say that I got to work with these women on Metro In Dino. But I've worked with Dia and Ratna on Dhak Dhak. Sanjana (Sanghi) was also there but I largely connected with the two of them," she remarks.
She further continues, 'They're such strong women. They're opinionated people with a very evolved understanding of life and relationships. When you work with secure women – secure not necessarily in terms of their career but also in their personal lives – they've a lot to give. So, I really enjoyed working with them." However, the situation was quite different while she was growing up and she attributes it to her 'tomboy' nature.
'For the longest period of time, especially when I was younger, I've only had guy friends since I was a tomboy. But as I've grown older, I've started connecting with a lot of women. One woman I'm really close to is Shonali Bose [her director in Modern Love Mumbai's Raat Rani]. She's a fabulous filmmaker. If you follow her journey online, you'll realise that she has gone through so many things. But her zest for life is incredible. When she enters a room, she lights it up. I just love her," exclaims Fatima.

Piloo Vidyarthi 'Disappointed' With Sarzameen Role, Says Ibrahim 'Lacks Depth'

Last Updated: Piloo Vidyarthi, from Mandala Murders, expressed disappointment over her role cut in Sarzameen. She also spoke about Ibrahim Ali Khan getting trolled for his films. Actor Piloo Vidyarthi, who recently impressed audiences as Kalindi Shastri in Mandala Murders, is enjoying the love showered on her latest work. However, she remains candid about the ups and downs of her career. In conversation with News18 Showsha, Vidyarthi opened up about the satisfaction of being a part of a well-written ensemble, and the sting of seeing her work cut from films. The actor, former wife of Ashish Vidyarthi, revealed that she was extremely disappointed to see her role chopped to nothing in Kajol, Ibrahim Ali Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran's 'Mandala Murders is a step towards getting that one good role I've been waiting for," Piloo Vidyarthi told us, adding, 'Every character in the show was established in their own right. It was a beautiful experience. I had a similar experience in Vedaa too, but I wasn't as disappointed as with Sarzameen. Vedaa removed most of my parts as well, but they did somewhat establish my character. In Mandala Murders, I had a critical presence and people are recognising my work. That matters to me." Piloo Vidyarthi expresses disappointment over her role in Sarzameen Piloo Vidyarthi contrasted this joy with her disappointment over her recently-released film, Sarzameen. 'Beech mein main phas gayi hoon, na Sar hain na Zameen hain," she said, recalling how the project began with promise. After a detailed narration and look test, she shot extensively in Manali and Mumbai, playing a nanny-like figure, quite like that of 'Farida Jalal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham", pivotal to a child's emotional arc. But when she saw the film, she realised, 'The makers have gone wrong somewhere because the director struggled to piece together the narrative." Her entire storyline had been removed. 'They didn't retain even 20 per cent of what was shot. I was disappointed, so I'm not promoting the film as well. Yes, we can talk about it since it was released, but I wasn't used at all. These things happen in our journey, so that's okay. But yes, it's disappointing when you prepare for a role and it's reduced to nothing," she admitted. As for why she didn't push back, Vidyarthi explained, 'As actors, especially in supporting roles, we don't always have the right to question such decisions." She also revealed that she recently shot for a film Yami Gautam in Lucknow, where the 'makers narrated the story to Yami" but not to her. 'These are the prices I pay because of the genre I'm in. Unless someone trusts me and gives me that role, I know these limitations exist," she admitted. Piloo Vidyarthi says she now chooses roles with meaning These experiences have shaped how Piloo Vidyarthi now navigates her career. 'I accept only projects where I feel my presence is significant. I want to be cast in roles that are meaningful and worthy of my craft," she said. Piloo Vidyarthi says Ibrahim Ali Khan lacks depth In the course of the conversation, Piloo Vidyarthi also spoke about working with Ibrahim Ali Khan in Sarzameen, who has been in the news for facing online trolling. 'Acting depends on your life experiences—how you have lived your life," she reflected. 'He was very nice to me, clicked photos. But I think he needs to have some depth. Star kids are also under a lot of pressure to live up to their parents. And Ibrahim comes from a family of big achievers. They have seen attention since forever. No one is bad." view comments First Published: August 10, 2025, 15:00 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Mouni Roy Denies Calling Paparazzi Every Time: ‘It's Really Taxing Because…'

Last Updated: Mouni Roy clarifies she doesn't always call paparazzi, saying they often recognize celebrity cars. She admits calling them only for promotions or when dressed up. It is a notion that every time a celebrity gets clicked, that star has called the paparazzi for spotting, but Mouni Roy has burst this bubble and, in a recent chat, shared that it is not true. Rather, the paps know almost all the car numbers of all the celebrities, and that is how they manage to know who is going where. In conversation with Hindustan Times, the actor shared, 'They are there, especially because if we are here in Bandra, they know your cars and where you're going. Sometimes, the restaurants or places you go to want to promote themselves. I am not saying I never call paps. But I call them when I need to be or want to be spotted, and I am dressed well. If I am promoting a film or a show, it's a very different thing. But every day, no!" 'It's really taxing, because you can't look nice all the time, and can't be at your best every time," she further added. Mouni Roy on the work front Mouni Roy began her career on television with shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and rose to fame with Naagin. She later moved to films, making her Bollywood debut in Gold and going on to appear in projects like Made in China, Brahmāstra, and Romeo Akbar Walter. Over the years, she has taken on a mix of TV, film, and OTT roles, proving her versatility as an actor. Mouni Roy on being typecast In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Mouni said, 'I have been typecast since the beginning of my career. When I did Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, people said the girl next door can't play a glam part. When I did a few reality shows, dance reality shows, they said I was too glamorous. When I did Sati, they said I was too Indian. When I did Naagin, it was 'she can only do fantasy fiction or mythological shows.' That's something I've always dealt with." 'As long as – whether it's glam, outlandish, girl next door, or dancing – if you can see that I'm putting in my hard work and 100%, and it resonates with the audience and they receive it well, you receive it well – that's my takeaway from it," she concluded. Mouni Roy on the personal front On the personal front, Mouni Roy is married to Suraj Nambiar, a Dubai-based businessman. The couple tied the knot in January 2022 in a traditional ceremony that combined South Indian and Bengali customs. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
