Yahoo2 days ago
THIS week 150 people ran, jogged and walked the parkrun course, of whom 31 were first timers and 21 recorded new personal bests.
Representatives of 15 different clubs including Hillsborough and Rivelin RC, Gosport Road Runners, Vegan Runners, Edinburgh AC, Leicester Triathlon Club, Knowsley Harriers AC, Brighton and Hove Athletic Club, Kilbarchan AAC, jogscotland, Volunteers parkrun Club (Unofficial), Kilmacolm Unofficial Running Club, Harmeny AC, Inverclyde C25K, Inverclyde Athletics Club (IAC) and Greenock Glenpark Harriers (GGH), all took part.
Completing his 100th parkrun on Saturday was Campbell Macfarlane. On May 31, 2014, he took part in his first ever parkrun and that was on the Esplanade.

Runners from three different clubs made up the first three finishers. IAC's John Bell was first into the funnel in 15:08. Dylan Crawford of GGH was second in 16:37. Edinburgh AC's Robin Kyle completed the top three males in 17:22.
(Image: Greenock Parkrun) With only six seconds between the first two ladies, first timer Louise O'Neill crossed the line in 22:15. Marti Spence, another first timer from Vegan Runners, completed the 5k course in 22:21. Juliet Walton was third lady to finish in 22:38.
Junior male runners taking part were first timer Jonah (37:36), Justin (33:31) and Rupert (23:34). For the ladies were Anna and Stella, who both gained new personal bests of 23:39.

A spokesperson said: 'If you have thought about volunteering but have never done any, now is your chance.
'Training will be given on the day. You will be joining a great team who always help one another.
'If you would like to help, please email greenock@parkrun.com and one of our run directors will get back to you.'

Bristol in Pictures: Lighting up the weekend

There is only once place to start this weekend, with tens of thousands of people at Ashton Court and many more in and around the city being entertained by mass launches from the Bristol Balloon Fiesta. Balloon fans were delighted to see a dry, sunny forecast for the weekend, meaning plenty of ascents took place. But there wasn't just one show in town – a charity bike ride held in memory of a Bristol student finished in the city, and dozens of leather-clad bikers headed to the Bath Road for a talk. Look up: Is there anything more "Bristol" than the sound of hot air balloon burners and people stopping to gaze at the many colourful balloons passing over the city? Following a successful morning on Saturday, the International Balloon Fiesta continues into Sunday. Weekend vibes: First Friday of the month evenings in the summer mean Bike Night at Fowlers Motorcycles on the Bath Road, where hundreds of bikers gather to talk all things two wheels. The next generation: Bristol City manager Gerhard Struber met lots of young supporters when the club held its open day at Ashton Gate last weekend, ahead of the Championship season getting under way. Heroes: About 30 Leicester University alumni completed a two-day cycle from the East Midlands city to Bristol to mark 10 years since the death of Dan Hickey, a Bristol resident who studied at the university. The ride finished at Bristol Saracens RFC, where an oak tree was planted in Dan's memory. A fund set up in his name supports young people in sport and arts in the Bristol area. Easy, tiger: Street art can be seen across Bristol, but it's in Bedminster and Southville that you feel you may come round any corner and see a stunning mural, like this one on Ruby Street. People power: Southville residents held a party to celebrate finishing their community garden and artwork on Upper Perry Hill, which features a mural by Bristol artist Andrew Burns Colwill. Moving forward: Bristol PR and communications company Purplefish has joined the higher ranks of the 2,500 UK businesses classed as B Corps, a rating of organisations with high social and environmental standards. Close up: Visitors to the Bristol Zoo Project, if they look very carefully, are sometimes lucky enough to spot a European lynx. The species once roamed wild in England. OK, just one more: Another shot of a balloon over the city during this weekend's fiesta. Can you see your house? Follow BBC Bristol on Facebook, X and Instagram. 'It will happen' - Iraola on Zabarnyi to PSG

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola spoke to BBC Radio Solent after the club's final pre-season match against Real Sociedad. On Illya Zabarnyi: "You know me, I hate this month. Things are happening. Zaba [Illya Zabarnyi] has not played in our last two games but it is not official so we have to wait. I think it will happen but we have to wait until everything is signed and official". On an attempt to sign Bafode Diakite: "We are trying to sign centre-backs after we lost Dean [Huijsen] and Zabarnyi. I can't talk about players that are not ours. We need two new centre-backs. It will be impossible to replace the ones that have left but the best centre-backs we can find, the club is working on it". On the future of Dango Ouattara: "He is our player, I don't want to lose him, but I haven't wanted to lose any of the players this summer. While the window is open there will be speculation. I don't know what will happen but I hate these things because you have players and you don't know who could be available. We have lost important players but this is something we cannot change. When the market ends, I hope we will be in the best situation [possible]." Listen to full interview on BBC Sounds here.
