Four India-origin people go missing in US, search on
The family members, namely, Asha Divan, Kishore Divan, Shailesh Divan, and Gita Divan, were last seen Tuesday at a Burger King store on Peach Street in Pennsylvania's Erie, as confirmed by surveillance footage, cited by Sibu Nair, the Director of Asian American and Pacific Islander Affairs at Office of NY State Governor Kathy Hochul over a Facebook post.
According to the footage, two of the family members, one man and a woman, were seen entering the building, where they also made their last credit card transaction, WTOV News9 reported.
They were driving a light-green coloured 2009 Toyota Camry, bearing a New York license plate (EKW2611). They also visited the temple in Pittsburgh following which they had planned to travel to Prabhupada's Palace Lodge Hotel in Moundsville, a city in West Virginia.
They have not been heard from since July 31, 2025, said Marshall County Sheriff Mike Dougherty, while speaking to the Ohio-based station, adding, 'We have a few leads, which we and surrounding law enforcement agencies are investigating, but have not yet located the missing persons.'
'Search efforts are set to intensify with helicopters and search teams joining tomorrow,' the report stated.
The US authorities have urged anyone with information related to the whereabouts of the four missing people to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
Further, Nair, over the Facebook post, urged fellow citizens and travelers in the area to help trace the individuals. 'If you are in the area or along their expected route especially the final 22-minute stretch near the hotel, which is known to be difficult terrain, please keep an eye out,' the Director wrote.

Odisha Police Officer Suspended For Forcefully Marrying, Torturing Minor
Bhubaneswar: An assistant sub-inspector of Odisha Police has been suspended for allegedly forcefully marrying a minor and torturing her, an officer said on Friday. The police identified the ASI as Amit Padhi, a resident of the Baliapal area in Balasore district, and he was posted in Puri district. Mr. Amit allegedly married a class-10 girl student (15/16 years) of Jagatsinghpur district after developing a relationship with her on Facebook and tortured her, the police said. "Amit Padhi forcefully married my minor daughter in July 2024. She was forced to tell her age was 22 to others. After the marriage, Amit and his family members tortured her physically and mentally," alleged the mother of the victim. The ASI then left his wife at her parental home in Jagatsinghpur, she alleged. 'After receiving a written complaint from the victim, a case has been registered at Jagatsinghpur Town police station. As the victim had earlier informed him that she will lodge a police complaint, is missing from Puri,' Jagatsinghpur SP Bhawani Sankar Udgata said. "When we intimated Puri SP about the incident, he suspended Amit from police service," SP Udgata said, adding that the accused ASI is still missing and efforts are on to nab him. The police ASI was also booked under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act along with other charges, the SP said. The other accused family members of Amit surrendered before a local court as per an order of the high court and got bail, he added.
