Travis Kelce
, despite his least productive season, has impressed Chiefs coaches with his renewed drive. Retirement rumors are overshadowed by his competitive spirit, and Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo extols Kelce's genuine character and on-field dominance as he heads into his 13th NFL season.
Travis Kelce wows Chiefs, wins Swifties' hearts again
Travis Kelce, the celebrated football icon, consistently impresses the Kansas City Chiefs' coaching staff and the wider public, a fascination perhaps heightened by his well-known relationship. Surprisingly, despite the Chiefs' recent
Super Bowl
success, the esteemed tight end experienced a statistical dip in his 2024 personal performance.
Although his team reached the NFL's grandest stage for the third consecutive year, Kelce faced considerable scrutiny for what was perceived as a decline from his usual extraordinary play.
Nevertheless, it's vital to recognize that the figures he achieved—numbers many other players would be thrilled to have—still depicted a remarkably effective athlete.
In 2024, Travis Kelce's 823 total yards and 3 touchdowns represented the lowest statistical output of his career. However, these are still enviable numbers for most players. The concern among fans stems from Kelce's history of unparalleled performance, with seven seasons exceeding 1,000 receiving yards in his 12-year NFL career, which set an exceptionally high bar and fueled apprehension about his recent production.

Despite speculation of retirement after last season, Travis Kelce's competitive drive is undiminished. Reports indicate he's shed weight and is fully prepared to continue making NFL history with the Chiefs, defying rumors and showcasing his commitment to the game. Chiefs Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, a four-time Super Bowl champion and NFL defensive mastermind, recently discussed Travis Kelce. His insights came during an interview on the podcast hosted by Kelce's brother, Jason.
In recalling his initial encounters with Travis Kelce, coach Spagnuolo described defending him as "what a headache." He shared on the "New Heights" podcast, "Now we've got to go up against this guy? I remember one game when I was in New York - I think I got lucky because one of your wide receivers didn't play. We put like three guys on Travis Kelce. At the very least he was double-covered, maybe triple-covered... We weren't going to let 87 beat us.
'
Spagnuolo's respect for Kelce grew beyond their on-field rivalry. He stated, "But then, when I got here and met him... Listen, I'm not saying this because you're sitting here, Trav, But you are one of the most genuine, down-to-earth megastars that anyone could ever meet." This shows his high regard for Kelce's character.

Unrealistic to expect victories without scoring goals: Kalyan Chaubey
Indian Football players (@IndianFootball via PTI Photo) New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is expected to start the hunt for a new coach once its technical committee and executive committee approve mutual termination of Manolo Marquez's contract at its meeting on June 29. Manolo, who took over as full-time coach only on June 1 after a dual role shared with FC Goa, has informed the federation that he does not want to continue with national team duties. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! According to sources, the contract can be terminated only if both parties agree. 'We have an executive committee meeting on June 29, where we will take a call (on Manolo's future),' AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey told reporters in the Capital on Friday. Yashasvi Jaiswal's Coach on England Prep, Opening Partner, & Playing Under Gill 'Manolo Marquez is one of the longest serving foreign coaches in Indian football. Over the years, he has managed multiple clubs and won trophies, including ISL trophy and Super Cup. Compared to others, his understanding of Indian football, including strengths, weakness of Indians, as well as opportunities and challenges within the Indian ecosystem, is better.' Under Manolo, India have won just once — against lowly Maldives at home — in eight matches but even more worryingly, failed to score in the last three matches. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No dark spots, 10 years younger! Goalscoring has been a consistent problem and reflects in the mere seven goals that the team has scored in 15 matches since Jan 2024. India have also not won a competitive game since Nov 2023. Quiz: Who's that IPL player? 'It is unrealistic to expect wins without scoring goals. There has been a steady decline in goals being scored from 1.64 (in 2015) to 0.75 currently. While we appreciate Sunil Chhetri's efforts at 40, as a nation we also need to ensure there was supply of more forwards in a systematic manner. 'It's difficult for wa player who has played the supporting role in the club for 11 months, to shift to the No. 9 role (in international matches). We have not had positive strikers in the last 10 years,' said Chaubey. Only Chhetri, India's highest goalscorer, has been a constant feature in the starting lineups of the last four national team coaches: Bob Houghton, Stephen Constantine, Igor Stimac and Manolo Marquez. The AIFF is hoping it can solve the striking woes and overcome India's wretched run of form, with the inclusion of OCI players. Chaubey said his office has contacted 33 footballers from across the world, some of whom already have the Overseas Citizen of India card, while others are being assisted by the federation. 'Like all sports federations (in India), AIFF is committed to aligning with the laws of the land. Under FIFA's framework and regulations, we are also actively exploring the possibility of securing approval for the inclusion of OCI players in the national team,' said Chaubey.

Suruchi Phogat makes it a hat-trick of gold in women's 10m air pistol at the ISSF World Cup in Munich
Suruchi Phogat (PTI) Pune: At 19, Suruchi Phogat is busy writing history and rewriting it. The Haryana shooter added one more chapter to her career by winning the gold medal in women's 10m air pistol at the ISSF World Cup in Munich. On Friday, she made it a hat-trick of individual gold medals and took her senior international score to 5/5 — five medals in five tournaments. She has become the first Indian to achieve this feat. Suruchi made her international debut at the Buenos Aires World Cup in April. She then competed in Lima and now the ongoing Munich edition. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! In the three individual matches played so far, she has won gold thrice in 10m air pistol events. She also won a gold and a bronze in 10m air pistol mixed competition. In Munich, Suruchi qualified second after shooting a National Record equalling score of 588 (earlier shot by Manu Bhaker). In the final, when all her seven opponents shot below 10.1, Suruchi hit a 10.7 to set the tone for her win. 'I am happy but not surprised by my win. I think this is what we train for, to win gold medals,' Suruchi said. When asked if there was any pressure on her after the first two successful editions of the World Cup, she said, 'Fortunately, I don't take pressure of winning medals at all. I have people around me who try to keep me away from the pressure. All I do is train and focus on each shot as that will help me improve. I don't think about the results,' she said. Quiz: Who's that IPL player? Former Commonwealth Games champion and now head coach of the pistol team, Samaresh Jung, feels it is the attitude that makes Suruchi such a force. 'She has been shooting fantastic. Her technique is good but what is unique about her shooting is her attitude. I have observed that anything below gold doesn't excite her. She thrives to win the top place on the podium and it is working very well for her. I am not sure how, but she needs to be protected from undue pressure and expectations from everybody around her,' Jung said. Meanwhile, Paris Games double medallist Manu couldn't qualify for the final after finishing 25th with 574. Palak was 36th with 570. In the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event, all three Indians failed to enter the 6-man final. Anish was the top shooter for India in the 18th spot (581).
