Show more Congress MP Pramod Tiwari on Sunday gave an inside in the INDIA alliance meeting held on July 19, and said that the INDIA Alliance has finalised its strategy ahead of Monsoon Session of Parliament, which centres around the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and statements made by US President Donald Trump.MP Tiwari, while talking to ANI, said, "Yesterday, a detailed discussion on formulating strategy for the upcoming session regarding the crisis in which the nation has been pushed into by the BJP-NDA Government. It was a joint effort held in a conducive environment. I am happy to tell you that keeping national interest as supreme, it has been decided against the BJP's activities that are weakening the country, its democracy and economy."MP Tiwari said that the US President Trump's statement about the five fighter jets being shot down is disturbing and added, "It has been decided to raise issues, the most important being the Pahalgam attack. To date, the traces of terrorists have not been found. Regarding Operation Sindoor, US President Donald Trump stated for the 24th time that he secured the ceasefire. A shocking statement was made that five fighter jets were shot down. The defence attache also said the same. CDS too said the same. This disturbs us." China's Premier Li Qiang announced the start of construction on what will be the world's largest hydropower dam, located on the eastern rim of the Tibetan plateau and estimated to cost around $170 billion, the official Xinhua news agency said. The project is part of China's push to expand renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions.Consisting of five cascade hydropower stations, the dam will be located in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River and could affect millions downstream in India and Bangladesh.Li described the hydropower project as a "project of the century" and said special emphasis "must be placed on ecological conservation to prevent environmental damage", Xinhua said in its report on Saturday.Authorities have not indicated how many people the Tibet project would displace and how it would affect the local ecosystem, one of the richest and most diverse on the plateau. The fringe far-right Sanseito party emerged as one of the biggest winners in Japan's upper house election on Sunday, gaining support with warnings of a "silent invasion" of immigrants, and pledges for tax cuts and welfare spending.Birthed on YouTube during the COVID-19 pandemic spreading conspiracy theories about vaccinations and a cabal of global elites, the party broke into mainstream politics with its "Japanese First" campaign. The party won 14 seats, according to public broadcaster NHK, adding to the single lawmaker it secured in the 248-seat chamber three years ago. It has only three seats in the more powerful lower house. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba 's ruling coalition failed Monday to secure a majority in the 248-seat upper house in a crucial parliamentary election, NHK public television said.Ishiba's Liberal Democratic Party and its junior coalition partner Komeito needed to win 50 seats on top of the 75 seats they already have to retain their majority. With just one more seat to be decided, the coalition had 47 seats. The loss is another blow to Ishiba's coalition, making it a minority in both houses following its October defeat in the lower house election, and worsening Japan's political instability. It was the first time the LDP has lost a majority in both houses of parliament since the party's foundation in 1955. Amid chants of 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Om Namah Shivaya,' early morning aarti was performed at Ghaziabad's Dudheshwar Mahadev Temple as devotees gathered in large numbers to mark the second Monday of the holy month of Sawan, one of the most sacred periods dedicated to Lord Shiva in the Hindu calendar.Speaking to ANI, Mahant Girisha Nand Maharaj of Dudheswar Nath Math Mandir said, "On the second Monday of the Shravan month, we send greetings to all devotees and Kanwadis. It is a very auspicious day, and every devotee should worship Lord Shiva for the welfare of all. Those unable to visit temples may simply chant 'Om Namah Shivaya' at home and still receive blessings."He added that devotees coming with devotion and discipline offer bael leaves, dhatura, bhang, milk, curd, ghee, honey, and Panchamrit as part of their rituals to Lord Shiva. "The muhurt (timing) today is especially auspicious as it coincides with the divine energy following Shivaratri. We extend our wishes to all," he said. Kishan Reddy slams Telangana caste survey, backs Centre's census for ‘real justice' to BCs
The proposed caste census to be taken up by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre will be as per the Constitution to provide 'real justice' to the Backward Classes (BC) unlike the 'useless' caste socio-economic survey taken up by the Congress government in Telangana which seeks to 'cheat' them by including Muslims in the BCc quota, said Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Friday. 'Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy should explain how the BCs can benefit when his government survey has reduced the numbers to 46% of the population and cutting down the quota benefit further by seeking to include 10% Muslims who will anyway get benefit from the 10% EWS — economically weaker sections quota,' he told a press conference in New Delhi. The High Court had struck down the 4% quota for Muslims when they were included in BC-E category by the then Congress government led by Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy but it is being implemented with the existing stay order in the Supreme Court. The current government intends to increase the same to 10% depriving the BCs of their rights as their quota gets reduced to 32%, he maintained. Mr. Kishan Reddy's contention is that 10% quota to Muslims benefits the Majlis Party and Congress leaders more. In this context, he referred to the GHMC elections where most of the BC reserved divisions were bagged by the Majlis Party in the last elections. The BJP leader said it was unbecoming of the Chief Minister to speak sarcastically about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's caste as 'converted caste' and has pointed out that inclusion of castes into SC/ST/BC has been a continuous process. Mr. Modi's caste was included by the then Congress governments based on the Mandal Commission report. The Congress has never made a BC as either PM or CM in its history plus did not bother to take up caste census or provide quota to BCs when in power. The Minister said the Congress government should follow the High Court order and conduct the local body polls within September and also implement the promised 42% quota for BCs even while 'genuine' BCs get the benefit.

Bihar SIR: Parliament Stalemate Continues As Govt Remains Non-Committal on Opp's Demands
New Delhi: The first week of the monsoon session ended in a washout on Friday as the stalemate between the government and the opposition over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar continued. The opposition has been demanding a discussion on, among other issues, the Election Commission of India's exercise in Bihar, but the government has remained non-committal over whether a discussion will be held on the issue in the coming week. Following a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), Union minister for parliamentary affairs Kiren Rijiju said that the government has agreed to the opposition's demand for a discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, to be held on Monday and Tuesday in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively, for 16 hours each. However, he did not specify whether the opposition's demand for a discussion on the SIR will be taken up. "I have said this in the BAC today that first a discussion will be held on Operation Sindoor as was demanded by the opposition. After that other issues will be decided. Every discussion cannot happen at the same time. Discussions can happen under rules. We have met both the leaders of opposition in both houses. We want parliament to function smoothly. And this is my appeal again,' he said. Earlier on Friday, members of the opposition INDIA bloc held a protest against the SIR exercise for the fourth consecutive day. Opposition members marched holding banners and placards from the Gandhi statue to the Makar Dwar on parliament premises. They placed a bin in front of the Makar Dwar, in which parliamentarians – including leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi – threw torn pieces of paper that read SIR as a symbolic protest denouncing the exercise. As protests continued inside the house, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla called a meeting of all floor leaders to end the impasse. Sources said that in the meeting, the government remained non-committal on holding a discussion on the Bihar SIR. The Wire has learnt that while there have been questions raised about under which rule the discussion can be held, opposition members said that a general discussion could be conducted which would allow everyone to place their views on the matter in the house. While the BAC has earlier this week agreed to the opposition's demand for a discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, for which 16 hours has been allotted in each house, the opposition has said that the discussion should take place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussions are now scheduled for July 28 and 29, while the opposition continues staging protests demanding a discussion on the Bihar SIR. 'After Tuesday, the opposition did not say anything about Pahalgam because we knew that the discussion cannot take place this week as the prime minister is abroad. Since then we have had only one demand – a discussion on the SIR. After one week, the Lok Sabha Speaker called all parties for a meeting, but even after this, we have not found out anything new. Even after the meeting the government is not stating clearly whether it will discuss the issue in the House or not,' said Congress' deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi to reporters outside parliament. Inside the house, the government has maintained that it is 'ready' for all discussions under relevant rules but resorted to repeated adjournments and did not say anything about the opposition's demand for a discussion on the SIR. When the Lok Sabha reconvened at 2 pm after being adjourned in the morning, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Jagdambika Pal invited members to table committee reports and then spoke for about ten minutes on the need for members to maintain decorum in the house. While he urged members to allow the house to function amid opposition protests, no opposition member was allowed to speak. Pal also did not say anything on the demand for a discussion on the SIR. 'I urge you to reflect personally that who benefits from this disruption? Who is gaining from this commotion? The people, who elected you and sent you to this House, certainly do not benefit from this disruption. The public sent you here to raise their concerns and speak about their hardships,' he said. Pal said that when the members return to their constituencies over the weekend, they would be asked what they did in parliament and asked them to introspect. 'When the government is saying both inside and outside the house that it is ready for a discussion on all issues under the rules, then why are you disrupting [parliament]? What is the reason for this disruption? You want answers from the government, [it] is ready. I am saying,' he said and then asked Union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal to respond. Meghwal then rose and said the discussions should be held and the government is 'ready'. Pal then adjourned the house for the day. In the Rajya Sabha too, while new members took oath in the morning, the House was adjourned after adjournment notices demanding a discussion on the Bihar SIR and discrimination against Bengali-speaking migrant workers, among others, were rejected. When the House reconvened at noon, the question hour began but house proceedings were adjourned for the day within four minutes.

Rahul Gandhi has always practised politics of falsehood: Dharmendra Pradhan on vacant varsity posts
NEW DELHI: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday attacked Rahul Gandhi for his comments on vacant reserved posts for SCs, STs and OBCs in Central universities, alleging that the Congress leader has always practised the politics of falsehood. Ealier in the day, Rahul Gandhi attacked the Modi government over vacant reserved posts in Central universities, calling it not just negligence but a "well-planned conspiracy" to keep 'Bahujans' out of education, research and policies. The leader of opposition in Lok Sabha demanded that all such vacant posts be filled immediately and 'Bahujans' be given their rights, not "Manuwadi boycott". "Those who have done politics against common people in the country, who have done politics against the poor, their hearts are filled with poison. Those who have poison in their hearts will see only poison across the country. May God give wisdom to the Congress party. "Rahul Gandhi has always practised the politics of falsehood. He and his party have consistently been against the poor, the oppressed, and marginalised sections of society," Pradhan told reporters. The minister also alleged that during Congress rule, OBC posts were often marked as "not suitable" and then given to candidates from the general category. "In our tenure, we have increased the number of posts, and a greater number of OBC candidates are now getting jobs compared to before," Pradhan said.
