Iowa basketball transfer portal target commits to Big 12 program instead
One of Iowa's top transfer portal targets is headed elsewhere.
Former Chattanooga guard Honor Huff announced his commitment to West Virginia on Saturday morning. Huff, the nation's leader in 3-point makes a season ago with 131, thought seriously about Iowa, but he's headed for Big 12 pastures instead.
Alongside West Virginia, Iowa joined St. John's, Vanderbilt and Pitt among Huff's finalists. Huff averaged 15.2 points per game while shooting 41.6% from 3-point range.
Huff is regarded as a four-star transfer per 247Sports. 247Sports ranks Huff as the No. 253 player nationally and as the No. 44 point guard in the transfer portal.
Iowa will now have to turn its attention elsewhere. The Hawkeyes have been linked to former Kansas State guard Brendan Hausen and to former Lincoln Memorial guard Wes Enis out of the Division II ranks.
'Bigs, a point guard and probably shooting. We'll end up with four or five more players, would be my guess. You're going to need enough bigs in the Big Ten from a physicality perspective, just so you don't get overpowered and overwhelmed.
"Then you're going to need wing shooting because finishing at the rim at this level is going to be tougher. So, you need to be able to shoot, to be able to stretch defenses consistently. And then another point guard, just to be able to play-make alongside Bennett," Iowa head men's basketball coach Ben McCollum said recently about his remaining plans for the Hawkeyes' roster.
Iowa is also hosting last season's Horizon League Player of the Year this weekend for a visit in former Robert Morris big man Alvaro Folgueiras.

Oklahoma target 4-Star WR Davian Groce recruiting profile
Oklahoma target 4-Star WR Davian Groce recruiting profile The Oklahoma Sooners hosted one of the most talented skill players in the 2026 recruiting class for an official visit over the weekend, four-star wide receiver Davian Groce. Groce hails from Frisco, Texas, and is a dynamic, do-it-all weapon on the offensive side of the ball. While being projected to wide receiver at the collegiate level, he has experience carrying the ball out of the backfield, showing off his ability to create big plays in a number of ways. Groce is fantastic in the open field. He has the agility and vision to make defenders miss. He does a great job changing speeds to keep defensive backs off balance in his route. Once he gets the ball, Groce can accelerate away from the defense. He can win in every level of the passing game, showing a natural feel for the screen game as well as running intermediate and deep routes. Though he lines up mostly on the outside, his skillset would allow Groce to be successful in the slot as well. Groce would also be an asset in the return game if the Oklahoma Sooners were able to earn his commitment. Groce currently has 22 Power Four offers, including SEC schools Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida, Missouri, and Ole Miss. Tragedy at Welland motorcycle track: 29-year-old rider killed in Open Expert feature
Motorcycle racing at Welland County Speedway has been postponed indefinitely following the death of a Canadian championship-calibre rider in Saturday night's premier race. Two laps were remaining in the four-lap 450 Expert feature when Tyler Seguin got 'tangled up' with other racers in the field of eight. 'Tyler was in fifth place, he took the inside and they got tangled up,' said Jack Wilson, president of Welland County Motorcycle Club, which owns and operates the quarter-mile clay track on Netherby Road. Seguin, 29, of Welland died at the scene. Tyler Seguin, right, is interviewed after winning the Flat Track Canada championship in 2023. One of the top motorcycle racers at Welland County Speedway, Seguin was killed in a crash in Saturday night's final race. He was 29. The owner of a construction business, Seguin is the first fatality at the track since Bob Harpwood was killed at 20 in 1979. Wilson said one other rider suffered minor injuries in Saturday's 450 Expert final. 'He's fine,' Wilson said. 'He fell, bumped his head, but he's OK.' Wilson told The Standard there is no one to blame for the tragedy. 'I've been out here all night with police investigators, everything. There's no fault, no blame, it's simply a racing accident,' he said. 'One guy is holding his line, the other guy goes underneath. Tyler was on the inside, he got a little loose, it's as simple as that. He high-sided the bike and went into the barrier.' In 2023, Seguin, whose No. 22 was a fixture at Welland County Speedway over the years, won the Flat Track Canada championship, taking the title in the final race of the season at Humberstone. 'He was one of our top racers,' Wilson said. In a Facebook post, a user by the name of MyRanda SwayZe called Seguin's death 'such a huge loss for the entire community.' 'Watching you grow up from a little kid to a grown man, you made a lot of people proud. And you definitely made a name for yourself, everyone knew you one way or another.' Jacob Campbell wrote in his post that he watched 'from the shadows for years of what you (Seguin) became.' 'A beautiful human with a business, family and purpose.' As of Sunday, all track operations have been cancelled by the club. 'We would normally be running motocross today, but that's cancelled,' Wilson said. 'Our next race, next week, is cancelled. 'Beyond that, I have no comment.'
