BBC The Traitors star Minah Shannon lands BBC Radio 1 role
The Traitors' fan favourite Minah Shannon is co-hosting BBC Radio 1's Friday Early Breakfast Show with Nat O'Leary.
The Traitors' star Minah Shannon has been announced as a new radio presenter on BBC Radio 1. The Liverpool based reality TV star, starred on season three of The Traitors, which aired in January this year and was a hit with viewers after she sneakily deceived many of her co-stars with her secret Traitor status, making it all the way to the final week of the programme before she was found out.
As the longest standing Traitor of the 2025 series, it seems her hard work has paid off as Minah has now landed a role co-hosting the Friday Early Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 1 with Nat O'Leary throughout May. Call centre manager Minah, 30, said she hoped to "brighten up listeners' mornings" on the show which is broadcasted from 05:00 until 07:00am.
The duo will co-present a special live show from Liverpool on May 23 to help kick off the Radio 1 Big Weekend 2025 celebrations in the city. Gushing over her new role, Minah said: "I am so excited to be presenting every Friday in May on Radio 1's Early Breakfast. Getting to present alongside Nat O'Leary is going to be so much fun.
"We discovered we both attended the same university and used to hang out in all the same places, so it feels like it was meant to be.
"If we can give the lovely listeners a laugh, then mission accomplished!"
O'Leary said she was "excited" to be joining Minah on the show. She remarked: "Minah's energy is electric, so I know we're gonna cause some chaos and bring some fun to your Friday early mornings.
"Can't wait to wake up with you babes!"
Minah currently works as a call centre manager in Liverpool, where she lives with her husband Liam and daughter Luna. Although the star has revealed she previously used to live in Glasgow for a number of years where she attended school.
The BBC star rose to fame during her time on The Traitors earlier this year. Viewers watched on as she successfully tricked the 'faithful contestants by banishing fellow traitors Armani and Linda from the castle.
Her impressive performance almost took her all the way to the end as fans were left gutted to see her voted out just two days before the final.
Her decision to recruit Charlotte as a fellow traitor was her ultimate downfall, as during Minah's final round table, it was Charlotte who sealed her fate and banished her from the castle.
Minah's co-hosting role will only last the month as the same slot is set to be replaced by Lauren Redfern in June.
Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, said: "The Friday Early Breakfast slot has become a key platform for emerging presenters to find their voice and connect with the Radio 1 listeners.

Wimbledon to be aired on new TV channel for the first time after BBC covered action at All-England Club for 88 years
Wimbledon will be shown on a new TV channel for the first time having been covered by the BBC for 88 years. While the company will still remain the principle broadcaster in the action when it comes to this year's action at SW19, a new broadcaster will show the event for the first time. This is courtesy of a stipulation in Ofcom 's Listed Events regulations, which permits 'secondary broadcasters' at major sporting tournaments. This year's tournament runs from Monday June 30 to Sunday July 13 and costs the BBC around £60million per year. But a new broadcaster will have rights to show highlights in 2025. That honour will see them take over the daily 90-minute highlights show of the action at the conclusion of each day's play. TNT Sports will assume the five-year deal that was originally signed by Eurosport in May last year after it bought Eurosport - which disappeared from UK viewers' screens back in February. The BBC have broadcast events at Wimbledon since 1937, when matches from Centre Court were shown up to half an hour each day. Coverage will come across BBC1 and BBC2, with all matches shown on BBC iPlayer, in addition to updates via radio, online and its app. Carlos Alcaraz will be seeking a third successive Wimbledon title after beating Novak Djokovic in each of the previous two finals on Centre Court. Meanwhile, Djokovic has burning ambitions of his own to win a 25th Grand Slam title and hold the outright record for the most majors won by a single player in the history of the sport. But it is his rival Alcaraz who will come into the tournament as favourite after his astonishing comeback victory over Jannik Sinner to lift the French Open title at Roland-Garros on Sunday. At one stage, the Spaniard was two sets down and had to save three championship points before completing an almighty fightback to win his fifth Grand Slam. As is tradition, he will appear on Centre Court during the first day of the tournament, with women's singles champion Barbora Krejcíkova doing the same.

Glastonbury cuts ticket numbers and makes drastic Charli XCX plans
Glastonbury 2025 is due to get underway in just three weeks and some shocking changes have just been announced by organise Emily Eavis. This year's event has sold out but will not use its full 210,000 capacity as normal. Eavis has revealed that the number of festival goers allowed onto the site has been cut as an experiment after a surge in crowds for big name acts in recent years. "It'll be interesting just to see how that affects the dynamics on site," Emily Eavis told the BBC's Sidetracked podcast, adding that she wants to see if the reduction "can make an impact on some of the busier times". She revealed they have also created more room for the audience at the Other Stage, the festival's second-biggest arena, where Charli XCX is expected to attract a huge crowd when she headlines on the Saturday night.
