Chhattisgarh: CM leads 'Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra' in honour of armed forces
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 17 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai along with BJP workers led the 'Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra' in honour of the valour of the Indian armed forces for the success of Operation Sindoor.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian soldiers, saying, 'Many thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the brave soldiers of our country for the great success of Operation Sindoor.'
He emphasized the importance of the Operation Sindoor in countering terrorism, particularly in Pahalgam, where Pakistani terrorists brutally targeted civilians based on their religion.
He continued, 'In Pahalgam, Pakistani terrorists asked people about their religion and then brutally killed them. No condemnation is enough. Our soldiers destroyed the centre of terrorism by conducting Operation Sindoor. We salute the courage and bravery of the country's soldiers.'
After the Operation Sindoor, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir as well as drone attacks along the border regions, following which India launched a coordinated counter-attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centres and airfields across 11 airbases in Pakistan.
BJP launched a nationwide Tiranga Yatra on Tuesday. The yatra aims to honour the valour of Indian soldiers and inform citizens about Operation Sindoor's recent success. It will continue until May 23.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also participated in the Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra in Haldwani on Saturday. The yatra is dedicated to the success of Operation Sindoor conducted by the Indian Armed Forces and their effectively repelling subsequent aggression by Pakistan.
The Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra was organised from the Mini Stadium, Haldwani, to the Shaheed Park. Thousands of people including youth, women, ex-servicemen, participated in the padyatra with the Tricolour. (ANI)

Stating that Governor Dattatreya is a person who has no enemies, the Telangana Chief Minister called him a role model for future leaders. The Chief minister extolled Dattatreya rising to the rank of Governor from Gowliguda galli (narrow street in Gowliguda area). He said that Governor Dattatreya maintained core values and never distanced himself from people despite adorning top positions during his entire political stint. The Chief Minister recollected his personal relations with the Haryana Governor and his close observation of the senior leader's political journey. He believes Governor Dattatreya at the state level enjoys the same stature which the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had at the national level. Revanth Reddy said that every political leader admired Governor Dattatreya with the same respect even if he is not in power. The popular 'Alai Bhalai' programme organised by Governor Dattatreya every year has been receiving overwhelming response from all party leaders and it is a testament to the leader's statesmanship. Former President Ram Nath Kovind, former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Ministers from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, among others, addressed the event. Cong dismantled simultaneous polls to retain power: Anil Antony
Bengaluru, June 8 (UNI) BJP leader Anil K Antony on Sunday launched a pointed attack on the Congress party, accusing it of derailing India's once-successful system of simultaneous elections for political gain. Supporting the Centre's push for the 'One Nation, One Election' initiative, he said the practice functioned smoothly until it was disrupted by the Congress government under Indira Gandhi after 1967. 'From 1951 to 1967, India conducted Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections together, ensuring stability and good governance,' Antony said at a policy forum here. 'But this changed when Mrs Indira Gandhi came to power. In the following three years, several non-Congress governments were dismissed, and political manipulation led to the collapse of the synchronised election cycle. By the late 1970s, the system had been completely derailed.' Calling this disruption a "self-serving move" by the Congress to retain power, Antony argued that decades of disjointed elections have since burdened the country with administrative delays, fiscal strain, and reduced governance efficiency. He cited the 2023 report of the High-Level Committee chaired by former President Ram Nath Kovind, which strongly recommended synchronised elections. 'According to the report, implementing 'One Nation, One Election' can boost India's GDP by 1.5% annually — equivalent to ₹4–7 lakh crore — which is nearly 50% of our healthcare budget and one-third of our education budget,' he said. Antony highlighted the heavy toll of India's year-round election cycle. 'In the last 30 years, there hasn't been a single year without elections. Due to the frequent enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, governance comes to a halt for almost five months every year. State and national leaders are in permanent campaign mode instead of focusing on development.' He said that restoring the synchronised election system is not a political move but a nation-first reform aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. 'This isn't about BJP. Even in 1983, the Election Commission — under a Congress-led government — said India should return to joint elections. Our founding leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani supported this idea in the 1980s. It's about bringing back stability,' Antony said. Citing India's rapid rise from a $2 trillion economy in 2014 to the verge of becoming a $5 trillion economy, Antony argued that electoral reforms are essential to sustain and accelerate this growth. 'We are now the fastest-growing digital economy. The startup boom in cities like Bengaluru — from just 500 startups in 2014 to over 1.25 lakh today — shows the kind of momentum we've built. Reforms like One Nation, One Election will ensure that governance keeps pace.' The High-Level Committee's consultations with lakhs of citizens and experts led to an 800-page report submitted to the President of India, affirming the economic, administrative, and democratic benefits of the reform. Among the members were Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former J\\\\\\\\&K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad, and legal luminary Harish Salve. Asserting that the initiative will 'increase democratic participation, improve administrative efficiency, and reduce unnecessary public expenditure,' Antony urged all stakeholders to support the move. 'Synchronised elections will free the government from continuous electoral distraction and unleash the full potential of governance. Chhattisgarh CM hails 'Chintan Shivir 2.0' as potent platform for policymaking
RAIPUR: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that training sessions like 'Chintan Shivir 2.0' offer a fresh perspective for governance and empower the policy-making process. He emphasised that such events provide ministers with a valuable opportunity to learn the intricacies of good governance and transformative leadership. Chief Minister Sai and all state ministers participated in the first session of the two-day Chintan Shivir at Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur. The session included extensive discussions on "transformative leadership," "visionary governance," "culture," "good governance," and "nation-building." IIM Indore Director Professor Himanshu Rai delivered a lecture on "Transformative Leadership and Visionary Governance." He highlighted selfless action and ethical administration through verses from the Bhagavad Gita, stressing that work should be done for its inherent rightness, not merely for its results. Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, former President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, shared his thoughts on "Culture, Good Governance, and Nation-Building." He said, "India's unity is not only geographical but also cultural and spiritual. Nation-building is possible not just through policies or resources, but through cultural consciousness and ethical values." He underscored the significance of Antyodaya, prioritising the welfare of the last person in society as a key aspect of good governance. Chief Minister Sai noted that Chintan Shivir events provide new direction and energy to governance. He described the insights from both expert speakers as highly inspirational and beneficial for policy-making.
