Shreveport media personality ready to share digital talents, expert insights at SocialCon

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A Shreveport entrepreneur and content creator is among those tapped to serve as an ambassador for an upcoming event meant to connect those seeking online success and partnership with those who have achieved it or can provide guidance.
SocialCon is the first of its kind for Shreveport. It is slated for June 7, 2025, at the Eleven Events Center downtown and is the brainchild of Kalli and Ryan Combs. The couple has tapped several notable creators from Louisiana and elsewhere, like New Orleans native, rapper, author, and educator Dee-1, whose Instagram following is approaching one million.
Tommy W. Nard is a Shreveport native, founder of Nard Music Group, and creator of Culturally Connected TV, a podcast that features newsmakers, trendsetters, local events, and entertainers. He will serve as one of the event's ambassadors.
Are you one of Shreveport's TikTok Titans?
'I believe SocialCon is very important for people to network, content is everything, I tell people. I just told someone the other day that content lasts forever,' Nard said.
He says SocialCon is an opportunity for people to come and understand some key elements of content creation that will bring visibility and potential revenue.
'This is an opportunity for Social Con – for everybody to come. And I just understand the power of content, the power of curating content that will make, change, move the world. You know, I'm saying in an impactful way, no matter if it's negative or a positive way.'
Nard did not always dream of being a content creator. He has no 'formal training' in film or television. His family owns Lil' Animals Seafood on Line Avenue in Shreveport; his father, Tommy Nard, Sr., is pastor and founder of Family Life Church of Shreveport.
He said his journey into content creation and Culturally Connected TV was born after a friend, who he calls 'the Oprah of the South,' needed his help, and he needed hers as well.

'So I was like, you know what? Let's put this together. And we kept thinking about what can we call this? Because it's not just for me, it's for everybody. So culturally connected, culturally, okay, culture,' Nard explained. 'I want to connect everybody, you know, in a positive light.'
With negative depictions of Shreveport in abundance, Nard and his partner set out to spotlight the good things happening in the area and highlighting changemakers and people doing their best to support the city they love. He understands that positivity is slower to spread than gossip and untruths, but in the three years since launching Culturally Connected TV on YouTube, his consistency is paying off.
'So I'm thankful. SocialCon is going be a great opportunity for different other content creators to come together,' Nard said he his hopeful about the rich networking experience that SocialCon will bring to Shreveport.
One element of SocialCon that Nard said he is looking forward to the most is the opportunity to meet with other creators one-on-one and discuss their struggles to gain a following or where to start.
'I'm here. I'm here to help you. I'm here to support. And this is this. This means everything, someong seeing the ambassador in me. I didn't think that I was. You know, it's just doing God's work and what he's downloaded in me and the vision that I wrote on the well one day. He (God) says, write, the vision and make it plain.'
Now, Tommy W. Nard's vision is clear and highly ambitious. He wants to become a media mogul producing content for audiences far beyond Shreveport and the ArkLaTex. He applauds 50 Cent's actions as he acquires the elements needed to build his G-Unit empire, but Nard is not waiting for Mr. Jackson.
His advice to those working to make a name for themselves in the digital space, 'continue to do what you do, but do it with excellence. With excellence and keep God at the center.'

'John Redcorn' Actor Jonathan Joss' Husband Issues Heartbreaking Statement

The husband of Jonathan Joss is opening up about the actor's shooting death in a heartbreaking statement. Joss was the voice of popular characters on two television series, King of the Hill and Parks and Recreation. He voiced the character of John Redcorn on the former show, and he played Chief Ken Hotate on the latter. San Antonio police confirmed to CNN that Joss was shot to death on June 1 in San Antonio, TX. According to KSAT-TV, the suspect, Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, was booked into the jail and accused of murder. The television station reported that, according to neighbors, Joss "had an ongoing dispute with the man accused of killing him." Now, Joss's husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales has written a lengthy post on Joss's Facebook page. In it, Joss's husband made a series of accusations of how the shooting went down, including an allegation that the shooting was motivated by the couple's relationship. He also detailed his love for Joss. "My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home. That home was burned down," he started the June 2 post. He wrote that the couple had reported "threats" they received "to law enforcement many times and nothing was done." Right before the shooting, he wrote, "When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw." He wrote that Joss saved his life, alleging, "When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life." "Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get. We were newlyweds. We picked Valentines Day. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future,"' the post says. He added, "I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved. To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family." Joss's husband continued: "My focus now is on protecting Jonathan's legacy and honoring the life we built together."'John Redcorn' Actor Jonathan Joss' Husband Issues Heartbreaking Statement first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 3, 2025

Arena rebrand part of Downtown Hartford's revitalization

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The XL Center is now becoming the PeoplesBank Arena. The building is getting major renovations and attracting more concerts more games and events. It could all lead to some big changes for downtown Hartford, revitalizing the neighborhood. XL Center to be renamed PeoplesBank Arena 'I'm just coming to visit Hartford for some nice video shoots for our TikTok and Instagram,' said Vlad Mosnytskyy, an influencer from New York City. With a new arena name comes new bunker suites, a premium club, new lower-bowl seating, a kitchen, concourse upgrades, new locker rooms for the athletes and green rooms for the artists.'This is going to be the heart and center of what we are trying to do, with the revitalization of Hartford,' Gov. Ned Lamont (D) said. 'I think you will see it in terms of a lot more activity here, much more frequently.' Add that onto the housing boom surrounding the Hartford Yard Goats at DUNKIN Park, there is new construction, new tourists, and new opportunities. 'If you rewind 10 years ago, what was there now, it's a whole different ball game,' Hartford Yard Goats President Tim Restall. Sticking with a baseball metaphors, the Yard Goats welcome the changes at PeoplesBank Arena.'There are a couple of runs that just scored today and someone is taking the lead,' Restall said. 'It's good to see what's happening with the downtown and all the renovations going on at the arena.' On Main, Albany, and High Street, and they're still building as part of the downtown expansion. Around the corner is the new police department, and they say they're going to continue to develop and continue to improve, making the downtown spread out and reach into the local neighborhoods.' 'Thirty five years of looking at this, I hope I'm here for the next 35 years,' Chuck Davis of Hartford said. 'I doubt it, but it looks beautiful, just like the stadium is beautiful, and you can see the work that they're doing on the Civic Center too hopefully I can get back to how it was.' For a couple of gentlemen who grew up in Hartford in the 1960s, they say Hartford is moving in the right direction. 'I think it's looking up, I like what they're doing in front of the ballpark the apartments, I like a lot of these things and these changes are going on with our administration, it's nice,' Dwight Teal of Hartford said. Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulumplam is picking up where his predecessor Luke Bronin left off by continuing to bridge from the city into the neighborhoods. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
