Colombian Liverpool Star Luis Díaz Wanted By Barcelona And Saudi Club

Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones of Liverpool celebrate as Liverpool are crowned the ... More Champions of the Premier League for the 2024/25 Season following the Premier League match between Liverpool FC and Crystal Palace FC at Anfield on May 25, 2025 in Liverpool, England.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that both Barcelona and Al Nassr of the Saudi Pro League have named Liverpool and Colombia forward Luis Díaz as a transfer target this summer.
Averaging a goal every 180 minutes of playing time this season; it has been Díaz's most potent in Liverpool red. The Colombian has achieved these numbers whilst rotating significantly between the starting XI and the bench, as well as the left wing and the more central 'false nine' position.
This comes off the back of a sublime summer of 2024 with Colombia too, as 'Lucho' led his national team to the Copa America final, only to face defeat to Argentina in extra-time. Díaz has also helped his national team to the brink of FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification over the course of this season. Colombia could confirm qualification its spot this June and that would mean a first ever World Cup appearance for the 28 year-old.
Liverpool won the Premier League this season, undoubtedly the biggest success of Díaz's career. His level of performance and adaptability proved absolutely key for Arne Slot's side and his ability to link up with the likes of Mohamed Salah helped the Reds to storm towards a 20th league title.
Luis Diaz of Liverpool celebrates scoring his team's sixth goal with teammate Mohamed Salah during ... More the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur FC and Liverpool FC at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 22, 2024 in London, England.
There have often been rumours of Saudi clubs showing interest in Luis Díaz, and of course this interest comes with the temptation of huge wage packets, but surely Díaz has enough quality and years in his relatively young legs to continue enjoying the top level of European soccer instead. Obviously Saudi Arabia would present Lucho with the biggest offer financially, but it will be interesting to see if that is enough to tempt him away from Anfield.
Barcelona has long been an admirer of the Colombian winger, and would certainly provide the latin star with some overdue sunshine. Many South American players are tempted by the big Spanish clubs because of the lifestyle on the Mediterranean and the obvious fact that they would be living in a Spanish speaking country.
However FC Barcelona is currently home to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, perhaps two of the best footballers on the planet this year. Given that they operate on the left and right flanks where would Lucho fit into this system? Or would he make the move to Barcelona just to be a player that comes off the bench or at times plays as a striker?
It doesn't seem to make sense for the player or the club given that 'FCB' could do with strengthening in other areas and already boasts a fine attack with Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres in the mix.
Díaz has made himself comfortable at Liverpool and he can be a big player for the Reds as the club chases European and domestic glory again next season. He is adored by the fans and is part of a fine dressing room atmosphere alongside other South American teammates like Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson Becker.

More (C) and Liverpool's Uruguayan striker #09 Darwin Nunez celebrate with the Premier League trophy during an open-top bus victory parade for Liverpool's Premier League title win, in Liverpool, north-west England on May 26, 2025.
The Colombian recently enjoyed a trophy parade in front of hundreds of thousands in Liverpool city centre and the club has already shown its intention to add to the squad and compete again next season. It makes you wonder. Surely Lucho is exactly where he needs to be?
Crucially, there is one year to go until the FIFA 2026 World Cup. This will be the proudest moment of Díaz's career and the idea of any instability, bad vibes or sitting on the Barcelona bench until then just doesn't make sense. Time will tell what happens regarding Díaz's future, but at just 28 Díaz seems to be in the perfect team to enter his prime years with.

'This Is Panic': Defence Secretary Forced To Deny Keir Starmer Is Rattled By Nigel Farage

A cabinet minister has been forced to deny that Keir Starmer is 'panicking' about the rise of Reform UK. John Healey defended the prime minister's decision to stage a hastily-arranged press conference specifically to attack Nigel Farage. The PM compared the Reform leader to Liz Truss over his spending plans, and also accused him of 'poisoning our politics'. On Sky News this morning, presenter Trevor Phillips told Healey: 'His speech had 1,100 words, 750 of them were about Nigel Farage. Why is he panicking?' The defence secretary replied: 'He's not panicking.' But Phillips went on: 'Why does the prime minister go into a hangar to talk about a bloke who's got five MPs on a week when the Russians are threatening, trade wars, all the rest of it. This is panic.' Healey said: 'He's challenging a party leader, Nigel Farage. He's challenging a party that did very well in the local elections, he's challenging a leader that is soft on Putin, that wants to sell off the NHS, that is making massive promises that he won't fund and can't deliver. 'Why the prime minister is saying this is that we are facing across the board, irrespective of party, a crisis of people's confidence and conviction that government can make a difference and anything can change the things that they see are wrong in this country.' He added: 'Keir Starmer is absolutely right to challenge Nigel Farage against these easy, soft solutions, and the promises that are false and he can never deliver.' Defence Secretary @JohnHealey_MP reaffirms Keir Starmer is "not panicking" when it comes to the rise of Reform UK, stressing it was "absolutely right" of the PM to challenge Nigel Farage in a speech on more: — Sky News (@SkyNews) June 1, 2025 The pair clashed as new analysis revealed Farage is on course for 10 Downing Street with a comfortable Commons majority. A calculation based on the most recent opinion polls suggests Reform UK would end up with 362 seats if a general election was held tomorrow. Labour would have 136 MPs elected, followed by the Lib Dems with 62 and the SNP with 38, the Electoral Calculus assessment suggested. In yet more bad news for Kemi Badenoch, the Conservatives would be the fifth-largest party with just 22 seats. The result would hand Farage a 74-seat majority, big enough for Reform UK to be able to govern without the need to rely on the support of other parties. Picture: Ex-Man United star Scott McTominay shows his class with heartfelt tribute to retiring Jonny Evans Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay sent a touching message to Jonny Evans as he retires from professional football. Evans decided to finally call it a day, following the expiry of his contract with United. Advertisement He won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup and two League Cups with United. Evans also won the FA Cup with Leicester City. The 37-year-old won 107 caps for Northern Ireland and is widely considered one of his country's greatest ever players. Evans enjoyed two spells at Old Trafford, having come through the club's esteemed youth system. He lined up for the Red Devils' senior team between 2006 to 2015 before he left and joined West Brom. After West Brom, Evans signed for Leicester and then returned to United in 2023. He initially went back to United on a short-term deal during their pre-season build-up and in the process, earned himself a one-year deal before he signed a fresh extension, which expired this summer. Advertisement Evans played for the last time on Friday, during United's 3-1 comeback win over Hong Kong. McTominay likely got to know Evans better during the latter's second stint at United, as they shared the dressing room for a year before McTominay made his move to Napoli. Earlier on Sunday, McTominay wrote on Instagram, 'You are one of the best players, characters and professionals I have had the pleasure to play alongside.' 'Very fortunate to share some amazing memories with you.' 'An incredible career and I wish you nothing but the best in your retirement. (Other than when we play golf).' It's evident that Evans left a lasting impression on McTominay. Feature image Francesco Pecoraro via Getty Images Follow us on Bluesky: @
