Mysuru: International Yoga Day was celebrated across the Old Mysuru region on Saturday. In Mysuru, the Yoga Day was celebrated in front of the iconic Mysuru Palace. Over 15,000 yoga performers from all walks of life, including foreigners and children with special needs, performed yoga.
Oldest health systems: Minister
District minister HC Mahadevappa, in his inaugural speech, hailed yoga as one of the oldest health systems in the world. He emphasised that yoga, encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual practices, promotes balance and control of body and emotions, fostering awareness among people. He said that daily yoga practice can lead to a healthy and fulfilling life.
As part of the Yoga Day celebrations, 4 minutes of mobility exercises, 25 minutes of yoga asanas, and 14 minutes of pranayama, meditation, and a collective pledge was taken.
MP Yaduveer KC Wadiyar and others were present.
In Kodagu, Yoga Day was celebrated across the district. The main event was held at Gowda Samaja, Madikeri, and was inaugurated by MLA Manthar Gowda. He said that yoga helps to maintain physical and mental balance. "Due to its health and other benefits, yoga has spread across the globe now," he said.
District AYUSH officer Dr Shailaja spoke and said that by doing yoga, one can stay active every day.

Surprise inspection at fast food outlets brings to fore poor quality food, banned artificial colours
Pic: Officials of the food safety department check the food at a fast food stall in Dharwad Dharwad: After the general public expressed concern over the fast food stalls operating in areas in Dharwad where there is dense population of students, the HDMC and food safety officials paid a surprise visit to several fast food stalls and also paying guest (PGs) facilities in Dharwad. The officials were stunned to see unabated use of artificial colours, banned substances while preparing food, particularly egg rice, noodles, kebabs and gobi manchurian at various stalls. The raid, which was led by food safety officials Altaf Ahmed, Prakash Mallapur, Javed Raibag, Heena Kurhahatti among others. The officials stated that the state govt has banned the use of artificial food colours in kebabs and other dishes like gobi manchurian and cotton candy, citing potential health hazards. They stated that as per the govt orders, food safety and quality department has been checking the quality of kebabs being sold across Dharwad and Hubballi city and around 30 fast food stalls were inspected. In some of the stalls, the fast food items including egg rice and kebabs were found to be 'poor' in quality due to addition of artificial colours, which can have serious impact on the health of the public. Flooding hits patients at AIIMS, RML
New Delhi: Heavy rains on Thursday led to severe waterlogging at two of the city's busiest govt hospitals, All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, disrupting patient movement and hampering access to key medical areas. At AIIMS, flooded stretches included the underpass connecting the trauma centre to the main campus, the corridor linking emergency 1 to emergency 2 near the nuclear medicine department, the approach road outside the new private ward and the entry point near gate no. 1. Witnesses said knee-deep water made it difficult for ambulances and patient attendants to navigate these crucial entry and transit points.
