How the shooting unfolded Reports of the shooting at 345 Park Ave. start coming in around 6:28 p.m.
Shane Tamura, 27, is seen getting out of a black BMW between 51st and 52nd streets with an M4 rifle.
He enters the lobby and turns right, where he shoots police officer Didarul Islam, 36, dead.
Tamura guns down a woman cowering behind a pillar in the lobby, sprays more bullets and walks toward the elevator bank — where he shoots dead a security guard crouching at his desk.
One more man reports being shot and injured in the lobby. He was in critical but stable condition.
The gunman allows a woman to walk out of the elevators unharmed before heading up to the 33rd floor, where building owner Rudin Properties' offices are located, 'and begins to walk the floor, firing as he traveled.'
One man is shot and killed on that floor before Tamura shoots himself in the chest.
It's unclear how long the mayhem lasted. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch posted on X at 7:52 p.m.: 'The scene has been contained and the lone shooter has been neutralized.'

Tamura shot and killed two civilians and an NYPD officer in the lobby, and wounded another, before riding the elevator to the 33rd floor where he killed another office worker before turning the gun on himself.
Upon searching his body, cops found a rambling note in his wallet blaming the NFL for his apparent CTE — a degenerative brain disease brought on by repeated blows to the head — despite never actually playing in the league.

Gary Busey, 81, pleads guilty to groping woman at NJ horror convention: ‘It was not an accidental touching'
Gary Busey, 81, has pleaded guilty to one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. During a Zoom hearing about the incident, which happened in 2022 at a horror movie convention in New Jersey, the 'Lethal Weapon' actor admitted to inappropriately touching a woman on Aug. 13, 2022. 'It was not an accidental touching,' the 'A Star Is Born' actor told the judge on Thursday, per the Daily News. The Post reached out to his reps for comment. The incident happened at the Monster-Mania Convention at the Doubletree Hotel in Cherry Hill, which ran from Aug. 12-14 of 2022. Busey was accused of groping at least three women during photo ops at the convention, and trying to undo one woman's bra at the event. The Oscar-nominated actor denied the allegations at the time. 'It took less than 10 seconds and they left. Then they made up a story that I assaulted them sexually,' he said. The 'Point Break' star said he doesn't 'carry any regrets' because 'nothing happened.' 'It was all false,' he told TMZ at the time. 'Immediately upon receiving a complaint from the attendees, the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return,' Monster-Mania Convention said in a Facebook post soon after the charges were announced, referring to Busey. 'Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report.' Photographers captured an image of Busey pulling his pants down at a public park in Malibu, California, one day after he was charged with the sex crimes. He was initially charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment. Three of those charges were dropped due to the plea agreement on Thursday. For the one remaining count — criminal sexual contact — the actor could face fines, as well as between one to five years of probation. His sentencing is currently scheduled for Sept. 18. Midtown Manhattan office shooter fired 47 rounds in deadly rampage: Police
The Midtown Manhattan office shooter fired 47 rounds from his M4-style rifle during the rampage, a number that indicates the suspect, Shane Tamura, reloaded his rifle at least once, the NYPD said. There were 23 shell casings and 13 bullet fragments recovered from the lobby of 345 Park Avenue, police said. Detectives also located 24 spent shell casings and 15 bullet fragments on the 33rd floor of the office building, police said. MORE: Timeline of NYC office building shooting: Suspect Shane Tamura allegedly drove from Nevada before targeting skyscraper An additional 800 rounds and a .357 caliber handgun were recovered in Tamura's BMW, which was double-parked outside the building, the NYPD said. Four people, including off-duty New York City police officer Didarul Islam; Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner and security guard Aland Etienne, were killed in Monday's mass shooting. The fourth victim, Julia Hyman, was killed on the 33rd floor. Office cleaner Sebije Nelovic also said she was shot at on the floor. Police said Hyman was the last person Tamura shot and killed before taking his own life. Investigators say they are continuing to look for a motive, but New York City Mayor Eric Adams said it appears Tamura, a former high school football player, was attempting to target the headquarters of the NFL, located in the 345 Park Avenue building but took the wrong elevator and ended up in the 33rd-floor office of Rudin Management. MORE: Manhattan mass shooting suspect Shane Tamura's Las Vegas activities investigated Tamura, 27, worked as a surveillance department employee at the Horseshoe hotel and casino in Las Vegas, a spokesperson for the Horseshoe said on Tuesday. He purchased the rifle used in the shooting for $1,400 from his supervisor at the casino, Rick Ackley, police sources told ABC News. The supervisor complied with the law in the sale, his attorney said in a statement. "Rick Ackley administered the transfer of the firearm used in the tragedy in New York lawfully complying with Nevada and federal gun laws," Ackley's attorney, Chris Rasmussen, said in a statement.

Park Avenue gunman Shane Tamura fired nearly 50 shots during rampage
NEW YORK — Gunman Shane Tamura fired nearly 50 shots Monday during his rampage on a Park Avenue skyscraper, where he killed an NYPD officer and three civilians before taking his own life — with slightly more shots fired at the 33rd-floor office he mistakenly took an elevator to, police said Friday. The degree of damage on the upper floor, where only one person was killed, shows how the sunglasses-sporting killer was spiraling out of control as his plan to get to the NFL offices inside 345 Park Ave. rapidly fell apart. During a preliminary sweep of the crime scene, cops recovered 23 shell casings and 13 bullet fragments from the lobby where Tamura first gunned down NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, who was in his NYPD uniform working a paid security detail authorized by the department. He shot at three more people in the lobby in the first few minutes of his 6:30 p.m. shooting spree Monday, killing security guard Aland Etienne, 46, Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner, 43, and badly wounding an NFL employee. Cops found 24 shell casings and 15 bullet fragments on the 33rd floor, where he was caught on surveillance video indiscriminately blasting away at the glass windows of Rudin Management before kicking in the office door and opening fire on anyone he could see, including a cleaner who escaped his fury unscathed and hid in a supply closet. Tamura's bullets did kill 27-year-old Rudin employee Julia Hyman, who had just stepped out of a safe room, presumably to call cops. A moment later, Tamura took his own life, shooting himself in the chest. His AR-15 assault rifle, which he bought from a co-worker for $1,400, had a full clip of 15 bullets, police said. Police sources said Tamura seemed frustrated when he realized the elevator had taken him to the wrong floor. Police believe he was planning to go to the National Football League offices in the building, which were on several lower floors in the 44-story skyscraper. In a suicide note folded in his wallet, Tamura said he believed he suffered a brain injury known as CTE from playing football and blamed the National Football League for not doing enough to prevent the condition, even though he never played for the NFL. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell attended Islam's funeral in the Bronx on Thursday. Speaking on NBC Sports Thursday night, Goodell, looking haggard and on the verge of tears, said the wounded NFL employee was 'stable and improving.' 'I got to spend about an hour with him,' Goodell said. 'He's an amazing young man.' He also said it was 'hard to understand' the violence that nearly came to their doorstep. 'These senseless acts of violence and hatred are happening around our world far too often, in schools, in churches, in synagogues and other places where this should not be happening,' he said. 'We all have to continue to be vigilant and do what we can to protect ourselves and the NFL is going to do that with our employees and with our people.' 'We're going to carry on, maybe with broken hearts, but we will carry on,' he said. Detectives continuing their investigation in Las Vegas, where Tamura lived, learned that the same co-worker who sold the suspect the weapon, a man called Rick, also sold the gunman the BMW he used to drive cross-country. A .357 Magnum pistol, which Tamura purchased legally in Las Vegas and 827 rounds for the handgun were found in the luxury car, which he doubled parked outside the Park Ave. building before Monday's carnage began. During his cross-country trip, detectives learned Tamura received a 31-second call from someone as he drove through Illinois and a second call, which lasted about a minute, as he entered Parsippany, New Jersey, just a few hours before the shooting. Detectives have spoken to both callers, an NYPD spokesman said. It was not immediately disclosed who called Tamura and what their conversations were about. No criminal charges have been filed against Rick, who was Tamura's supervisor at the Horseshoe Hotel and Casino where the gunman worked night security, officials said. _____
