Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Gray Ghost: Know everything about this limited-run bike
Harley-Davidson has rolled out the Fat Boy Gray Ghost, the fifth model in its Icons Motorcycle Collection, celebrating 35 years of the legendary Fat Boy. Limited to just 1,990 units worldwide—a nod to the 1990 debut—this exclusive motorcycle blends nostalgic design with modern technology, priced at $25,399 (around Rs 21.65 lakh).advertisementA tribute to fat custom style
The Fat Boy Gray Ghost dazzles with its Reflection finish, a chrome-like sheen achieved through physical vapor deposition (PVD). This innovative process coats the fuel tank and fenders, marking the first time Harley-Davidson has applied PVD to such large components on a production model. The result is a mirror-like brilliance that surpasses traditional chrome plating while meeting stringent corrosion-resistance standards.
'The original Fat Boy redefined custom style with its bold proportions and post-war DNA,' said Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson's Vice President of Design and Creative Director. 'The Gray Ghost amplifies that legacy with a modern, industrial edge.'

Nostalgic touches include a round air cleaner, yellow accents on the powertrain and tank console, and a leather seat valance with lacing and tassels. The iconic winged fuel tank medallions and a serialised tank console insert pay homage to the original, while an Icons Collection medallion adorns the rear fender. Chrome side covers and a bright silver powder-coated frame complete the radiant look, paired with exclusive Lakester cast aluminium wheels and Michelin Scorcher 11 tires (160/60R18 front, 240/40R18 rear).Power and performance upgrades
Powering the Gray Ghost is a 1,923cc V-twin engine, delivering 101bhp at 4,800rpm and 166Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. Enhanced with a 2-into-2 exhaust and advanced muffler materials, the engine emphasises deep, resonant tones. A frame-mounted oil cooler and cylinder head cooling passages ensure rider comfort in hot conditions or low-speed riding. The motorcycle features recalibrated suspension for optimal comfort, with dual-bending valve 49mm front forks and hydraulic pre-load adjustment for the rear. Selectable ride modes (Road, Rain, Sport) tailor performance, while Harley-Davidson's rider safety enhancements include cornering ABS, traction control, and tyre pressure monitoring. All-LED lighting, a USB-C power port, relocated heated gear connectors, and a new 5-inch analogue-digital instrument cluster elevate the riding experience.advertisementWith only 1,990 units produced, the Fat Boy Gray Ghost is a collector's dream, blending iconic style with modern performance. Although there's no official confirmation regarding its launch in India, considering the limited global production of just 1,990 units, it remains to be seen if any, will make it to the country.Subscribe to Auto Today Magazine

Commuters celebrate as new city flyover reduces travel time
Ranchi: The Siromtoli flyover, inaugurated on Thursday by chief minister Hemant Soren amid protests by various tribal outfits to demolish the flyover's ramp in front of the Kendriya Sarna Sthal, has become a popular spot among motorists and citizens alike. The newly built structure has not only eased traffic congestion but also significantly reduced the travel time for commuters. Motorists are eager to try a ride over the new flyover, which connects the Mecon roundabout to Siromtoli via the Rajendra Chowk. Many of them were seen clicking selfies on the flyover. When TOI took a ride on the flyover from the Siromtoli Chowk at 1.30 pm on Friday and returned to the spot via the Mecon Chowk, the whole to-and-fro journey took only 10 minutes, a distance which would take at least half an hour without the flyover. Meanwhile, Ranchites expressed satisfaction with the govt's intervention in the timely completion of the project. The 2.34-km project built at a cost of Rs 355.76 crore, began in 2022. Sumit Kumar, a commuter, told TOI, "We are happy that the flyover is now open. Earlier, we had to take a longer route to reach the Mecon Chowk from Siromtoli via Sujata Chowk which used to take at least 30 minutes or even more during rush hours. We can cover the same distance in 10-12 minutes, saving both fuel and time." An autorickshaw driver, Riyaz Khan, said, "Now, we can make more trips in a day as it takes less time to travel. It will increase our monthly income. Once the elevated corridor connecting the flyover at Kantatoli is completed, it will further ease the traffic. Due to ongoing construction of the corridor now, we still are facing inconvenience." Many residents also flocked to the flyover to click selfies and make reels. Some citizens have, however, raised safety concerns over such activities. "The administration has to be strict and vigilant so that no untoward incident takes place," Ashutosh Kumar, a senior citizen said.
