Keefe D's Trial For The 1996 Murder Of Tupac Shakur Now Delayed Until 2026
Duane 'Keefe D' Davis' long-awaited murder trial for his alleged role in the 1996 shooting death of rapper Tupac Shakur has been postponed until 2026.
Originally scheduled for March 2025, the delay came after Davis' attorney filed a motion on Feb. 14, requesting more time to prepare.
The motion emphasized that with every new piece of evidence presented, it is increasingly evident that crucial facts in the case remain unexamined.
'This case involves decades-old allegations,' the motion read, an argument Judge Carli Kierney, overseeing the case, agreed with.
'It looks like there are quite a few things that are left to be done to get this case prepared,' Judge Kierney stated. 'So that Mr. Davis can have effective assistance of counsel.'
Davis, currently held at the Clark County Detention Center in Nevada, faces one count of murder with a deadly weapon in connection with the infamous September 1996 shooting that left Tupac Shakur dead at the age of 25.
Although Davis has plead not guilty to the charges, the legal proceedings have been a subject of contention for years.
Davis previously attempted to have the charges dismissed, citing the passage of time and alleged constitutional violations. However, his motion to dismiss was denied, and the case remains on track for trial, despite the delay.
Davis has openly spoken about his alleged role in the murder of Shakur on multiple occasions, including in various interviews and in his own book, Compton Street Legend, in which he detailed the events surrounding the rap star's death.
According to Davis' previous accounts, he provided the firearm used in the shooting of Shakur to his nephew, Orlando Anderson, who is believed to be the gunman responsible for Tupac's murder.
Furthermore, Davis has claimed that he was in a vehicle with Anderson, who since died, and other alleged accomplices at the time of the shooting, which occurred on the Las Vegas strip following Mike Tyson's heavyweight title fight against Bruce Selden.
However, he now says that those admissions were fabricated and that testimony will prove that he wasn't present in Las Vegas at the time of the shooting, thus vindicating him of guilt.
If convicted on all charges, Davis is expected to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Boxer Nahir Albright told reporters that Davis headbutted him and left a large bump over his right eye. He said the incident took place when Davis and his younger brother, Keon, confronted Albright after Albright beat the oldest of the Davis brothers, Kelvin, by majority decision at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The weekend already had soured for Davis, who on Friday weighed in 4.3 pounds more than the maximum for his WBO lightweight world title defense scheduled for Saturday. That led to the cancellation of the bout against Edwin De Los Santos and the WBO title was stripped from him. Then came the alleged incident described by Albright. 'I was in my locker room and celebrated my victory with my team,'' he told reporters in a videotaped interview. '…Keyshawn and his little brother (Keon) came in and they started looking at me and was like, they saying something about his older brother. They was mad and he grabbed me, pushed me back. 'I'm grabbing his head. He moved his head towards my head.'' Then came the headbutt, according to Albright. 'So yeah, that's what happened,'' he said, the incident was not sparked by any exchange of words. '…Their locker room is right next door to mine, so I guess they heard us happy and all that kind of stuff, and they came in and started trouble.'' Of the confrontation, Albright told ESPN, 'Now we've got to settle that'' and said he wants to fight Keyshawn Davis in the ring. Davis beat Albright by unanimous decision in 2023 but the result was turned to a no contest after Davis tested positive for marijuana – a banned substance in Texas, where the fight was held. But late Saturday, the talk centered on controversy outside of the ring. For Davis, instead of being featured in the main event in his hometown of Norfolk, it all went awry. Davis, 26, showed up Saturday at the Scope Arena with his son of less than a year and cheered on his two brothers. Keon, 23, won his fight via a second-round TKO. But Kelvin, 28, got pummeled by Albright, who won the 10-round bout by majority decision. During the altercation, Albright said, his coaches eventually interceded. 'My coaches grabbed (Keyshawn Davis) and then I think security came in and grabbed him,'' Albright said. Later, Albright said, Davis charged after Albright's older brother. 'It just got crazy,'' he added. But Albright said he thinks Kelvin Davis, the brother he beat in the ring Saturday night, was trying to break things up. 'It's a little unfortunate, but nothing could take away the feeling of being a champion tonight,'' he said, referring to the vacant Silver US WBC Jr. Welterweight title he won. 'I ain't going to let nothing ruin my night.'' ESPN reported that the Davis brothers did not comment.

Far North Peoria tattoo artist held for sexually explicit and ‘grooming' messages
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A Far North Peoria man spent two hours sending sexually explicit text messages to a 16-year-old girl earlier this year. That's what Assistant State's Attorney Terry Muench said during a brief hearing Thursday in Peoria County Circuit Court where Mario E. Davis, 34, was charged with one count of grooming. Davis appeared in court twice Thursday. The first time was in the morning, when a judge found probable cause to proceed on the charges. The second time was in the afternoon before Judge Mark Gilles who ordered him held pending the outcome of his case. Muench said a reason to hold him was that Davis had called Peoria police hours after he texted the teenage girl to claim his Snapchat account was hacked or that someone was posing as him. He even, the prosecutor said, went so far as to change the name of his account. That change came after she had screen recorded their conversation. that matters as users of Snapchat are notified when someone takes a screen shot of their image or text. The judge noted that Davis was a threat to minors, the 'most vulnerable people in society,' and the harm that could come to a child would be beyond repair. Nothing that could be done to ensure that he would not continue this activity online, Gilles said. 'Children are at a high risk with this defendant if he's not detained based upon what I have heard today,' Gilles said, noting that Davis' past criminal record did have a misdemeanor charge of tattooing of a minor and obstructing justice. The prosecutor pointed out twice in open court that the entire conversation was found on Davis' cellphone when he was arrested this week. Muench said an investigation into Davis began in mid-February after a parent reported her child had gotten the illicit messages. The girl, who knew Davis as her older sister had worked with him, spent two hours in the early morning hours of Feb. 12, talking to him after she accepted a friend request from him. The conversation started innocently but quickly turned sexual. The girl did tell him that she was 16 and Davis, Muench said, kept going with the conversation. After serving several search warrants on several social media accounts, they arrested Davis Tuesday at an address in the 7700 block of North Grand Prairie Drive. Detectives were able to confirm that the account used to communicate with the girl was registered to Davis. Also, GPS data from Snapchat indicated that the conversation occurred in or around Davis's residence, said Anna Perales of the state's attorney's office.
