Gregg Wallace: A familiar face on TV
Wallace also hosted a number of other food-related programmes, including Eat Well For Less, Inside The Factory, Turn Back Time, Harvest and Supermarket Secrets.
Born in Peckham, south-east London, Wallace worked at Covent Garden fruit and vegetable market after leaving school, before becoming a restaurateur in the capital.
His broadcasting career began after he presented Talk on BBC Radio 4 with Charlie Hicks, and this then led to his first TV work, becoming the original presenter of the BBC show Saturday Kitchen in 2002.
As his fame grew, he also had a number of books published, including his 2012 autobiography, Life On A Plate.
He co-wrote Gregg's Italian Family Cookbook with his fourth wife, Anne-Marie Sterpini, whom he married in 2016.
The couple have a son called Sid, while Wallace also has two children, Tom and Libby, from a former relationship.
He announced he was standing down from his role presenting Inside The Factory in 2023 in order to take care of Sid, who is autistic and non-verbal. Wallace has now revealed that he himself has been diagnosed with autism.
Wallace took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2014 and was partnered with Aliona Vilani, becoming the first couple of the series to be booted out.
He was made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2022 for his services to food and charity.
Wallace has been open about his fitness journey in recent years and started a weight-loss and health site called ShowMe.Fit as well as a healthy lifestyle podcast called A Piece Of Cake.
The TV star revealed that a doctor had cautioned him in 2017 that, thanks to high cholesterol, he was 'heading for a heart attack' if he did not take action.
Earlier this month, he was sacked from Masterchef ahead of the report being published, while it was reported the BBC had banned Wallace from ever working at the organisation again.

YouTube star and EastEnders actress among first batch of Strictly contestants
The popular BBC dancing show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, will return to TV screens in September with a new host of famous faces competing each week to win the glitterball trophy. Podcast host and YouTube star George Clarke was announced as the sixth celebrity contestant on Tuesday during BBC Radio 1's Going Home drivetime show. Clarke, also known as George Clarkey, said: 'Never thought I'd say this … but I'm doing Strictly! Honestly, I've got no idea what I'm doing but I'm excited to get stuck in … and potentially fall over a fair bit.' It comes after EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal was revealed as a contestant during a segment filmed live from Albert Square on ITV's Good Morning Britain (GMB). She said that 'being on Strictly is a dream that I held on to, with no proof that it would ever happen'. The other stars confirmed to be competing are Love Island winner Dani Dyer, Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Doctor Who actress Alex Kingston and former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Speaking on The One Show after her reveal, Dyer, who is the daughter of actor Danny Dyer, said: 'It's such a fun magical show – to be asked to do it is such an honour. 'I just can't wait to be able to wear (the costumes) – it's going to be so much fun.' Aikines-Aryeetey, known as Nitro on the rebooted Gladiators, previously competed in last year's Strictly Christmas Special and described his decision to return on Monday as 'so nice I just had to do it twice'. In July, the BBC announced that two 'incredible' new professional dancers, US-born Alexis Warr and Australian dancer Julian Caillon, would be joining the show. Daly and Winkleman will return as presenters with Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas on the judges' table. Strictly will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this September.

Alex Kingston makes first Strictly statement as Doctor Who star confirmed for BBC show
Alex Kingston has shared with her fans some of her dancing moves after the BBC confirmed that the Doctor Who actress will join the cast for this year's Strictly Come Dancing. Posting a video of herself practicing some footwork on Monday (11 August), the 62-year-old actor sung the show's theme tune before looking at the camera and saying: "Strictly… just dancing.' In the post's caption, she wrote: 'Hello sweeties… Spoilers are out! I'm getting ready to shake my hips all the way to a glitter ball trophy. Strictly 2025 here I come!!' Kingston was the second celebrity announced as part of the this year's cast for the hit dancing show, which returns to screens Autumn 2025.

Match of the Day stars 'won't make the show all about them' unlike Gary Lineker
Match of The Day's new hosts are promising they won't make the show all about them. Gabby Logan, Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman don't want to be the centre of attention like axed Gary Lineker was. Instead, they want to make it all about the football when they kick things off this week. Gabby, 52, said: 'The focus is only on us because Gary's leaving, and he's such a huge name. We're nowhere near the most important people on the show. The most important thing is the football, then it's the pundits and what they think about it and we're there to bring it all together.' Kelly, 49, added: 'I didn't think there would be as much focus as there has been. I thought, probably very naively, that Gary would take it all as the outgoing person. I didn't realise people would be as interested as they are.' The trio are taking over after Gary, 64, quit the BBC over a controversial post on social media. And the new presenters insist that they won't suffer a similar gaffe as they're cautious about what they put online. Kelly said: 'I don't think I've ever really weighed in that much on anything that isn't either about football or something quite silly. That's not how I've ever used social media.' Gabby added: 'I've been conducting myself on social media while working at the BBC for nearly two decades, so it doesn't change anything. "The broadcaster is probably under the most scrutiny of any in the country because of the way it's funded and because it's accountable to the public. That's how it should be. We strive to have the highest standards. Hopefully, we'll just get on with our jobs.' Speaking earlier this year, Lineker, 64, said he believed the BBC wanted him to leave the programme, which he had anchored since 1999. Asked why he was ending his tenure as host, he replied: "Well, perhaps they want me to leave. There was the sense of that." He announced last November that he would leave the football show at the end of the last Premier League season.
