Liverpool transfer news: PSR position explained amid £120m Alexander Isak interest
Liverpool have been granted what appears to be a free run at Newcastle striker Alexander Isak after he sensationally asked to leave St James' Park.
And with Manchester United among the clubs already ruling themselves out of a move for the £120m forward, Arne Slot's Premier League champions could continue their remarkable transfer window by bringing in the Sweden star.
Should that happen an even greater emphasis will be placed on outgoings, however, with a host of names now being linked with departures. Yet Liverpool could also continue spending regardless without immediately falling foul of PSR regulations.

Alexander Isak has opened the door to a sensational British-record transfer to Liverpool after informing Newcastle that he wants to explore a move away from St James' Park. Isak did not travel with the Magpies to Singapore yesterday for their pre-season tour, though the club insist his omission was due to a thigh issue.
And the Reds are in pole position despite interest from Saudi Arabia.
Financial reality
So in the era of PSR, where clubs are evaluated on not posting losses of £105m across a three-year cycle, how can they continue to spend as they attempt to equip Arne Slot with a squad capable of retaining their title?
That they only signed Federico Chiesa, one of several players now up for sale, last summer has certainly helped but the key to their splurge is amoritisation and the book value of sales outweighing fees paid out that are spread across several seasons.
The sales of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah for a combined £61.5m, with more departures destined to follow, means the Reds could sign Isak and still add another player amid continued links with Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. Luis Diaz is wanted by Bayern Munich and is keen to join the German giants while Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa and Tyler Morton remain possible departures before next month's transfer deadline.

New suitors Two clubs from the Saudi Pro League are interested in signing Antony from Manchester United. The Brazilian winger has been left out of United's pre-season tour squad having spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis. The La Liga side have yet to agree a deal for the former Ajax star who impressed in La Liga last term. United want to seal a permanent exit and transfer fee for the player, with Betis thus far unwilling to make an offer that meets United's demands. Antony has also been linked too Erik ten Hag's new side Bayer Leverkusen. The Dutch coach pushed back on the chance of a move however, and said: "We're not interested in him at the moment, but we'll see what happens in the future." Stance on a new striker An imminent move for a striker is not expected from Manchester United after signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, per the Manchester Evening News. The Red Devils have been linked with signing a new out-and-out forward but have thus far not seen progress with sales required to bolster their transfer funds. The club's plans were stalled when Liam Delap chose to sign for Chelsea instead of moving to Old Trafford. Nevertheless, Ruben Amorim is pleased with how his squad is shaping up. United have not ruled out a move for a new goalscorer however and are assessing what is feasible in the coming weeks. Michelle Agyemang's youth team hails Lioness as girls' football enjoys boost
The 19-year-old Arsenal forward, who scored dramatic equalisers in both the quarter-final and semi-final, began her footballing journey at Brandon Groves AFC in South Ockendon, Essex. Roy Enright, 45, who manages the girls' team, said her legacy has led to a surge of new recruits. He said: 'It's great for the girls to see someone like Michelle who's played at the same club, from the same area, and from her hard work made it to the highest level. 'When I set the girls' team up in 2022, I started with zero players. 'When Michelle was here, she even had to play on the boys' team. 'Now I've got a squad of 20 girls at my age group and that has all come from the Lionesses – especially their success at the last Euros. 'Given that Michelle is from the area, played for the club, and is doing so well, we're getting even more girls joining up. 'That's the legacy she has left for us.' Terry Tisdall, 40, who manages the boys' under-11s, said: 'The girls are so proud of her – she's the star of the show. 'They used to wear shirts with men's players' names on and now they've all got Agyemang on the back.' Agyemang left Brandon Groves for Arsenal's academy when she was around 10 years old before becoming one of the most highly rated youngsters at the Gunners. She recently invited the Brandon Groves players to St George's Park, the home of the England team, so they could watch the Lionesses train. Mr Enright said: 'It meant the world to them – it just goes to show how Michelle cares. 'She was fantastic – she took the time out to speak to all the girls, take selfies and sign autographs.'
