Fix Monster Hunter Wilds' Greediest Microtransaction And More With These Five Great Mods
Monster Hunter Wilds has already sold over 8 million copies, making it the fastest-selling in the action-RPG franchise's history. Many of those players are on PC, which means their eligible to take advantage of dozens of player-made mods to alter and even improve the game's overall experience, including bypassing Capcom's annoying character and Palico edit vouchers which cost $2.33 each. Here are some of the most popular mods Monster Hunter Wilds players are downloading.
The Unlimited character and Palico edits mod by Ridog8 lets players change the aforementioned appearances as often as they wish. Normally you can only edit a handful of features without paying for Capcom's character creator vouchers. The mod lets you do the works without spending a dime. It'll still use up any vouchers you already have as normal, but won't gate you from continuing to tinker after you've run out.
Nothing you kill in Monster Hunter Wilds tells you how much health it has or how close it is to dying. In particularly long hunts that can be annoying, as you try to figure out if you should go back to camp and restock or keep chipping away with the end almost in sight. This health bar mod by GreenComfyTea addresses that. There's also a full stats overlay mod as well as a toggle for quickly turning the entire HUD UI off and on.
Monster Hunter Wilds doesn't have traditional spiders, but it does have Lala Barina and Nerscylla, large bosses with lots of arachnid-like legs. The Temnophobia Mode mod by TeaSharkLad takes care of that for people with spider fears, by turning them into giant slimes instead.
Monster Hunter Wilds'inventory system is also a mess; one made worse by the fact that you're constantly encouraged to pick up resources throughout he world, so you quickly run out for room. The skip pouch replacement prompt mod by PeaslyWellbott lets you bypass a pop-up warning about your inventory being full and just automatically sends all of the overflow back to your camp. I have a feeling Capcom will add this in a future update as well.
Monster Hunter Wilds has some well-established optimization issues on PC, but even when everything is working correctly it can still look washed out and grey. The Wilds rehydrated mod by ISpectre23 teaks a handful of shader settings to 'restore clarity, depth, and color balance' to the game's impressive open areas. There are a couple of other reshader mods promising more subtle glow-ups as well.

GameSir's $30 Nova 2 Lite controller includes Hall effect sticks and triggers.
It's almost a bit boring when compared to the GameSir's $69.99 Tarantula Pro that can change the layout of its face button labels. But for $29.99, the Nova 2 Lite could be a solid alternative to 8BitDo's Ultimate 2C with Hall effect joysticks and triggers that can be locked to a shorter travel for FPS games. It also includes an extra pair of remappable back buttons and is compatible with the Switch, PCs, iOS, and Android.

Valorant is finally adding replays and upgrading to Unreal Engine 5
The hugely popular first-person shooter game Valorant is getting some long-awaited upgrades as the game approaches its 5-year anniversary. In the latest dev update , the Valorant team announced the long-anticipated replay feature. They'll function about the same as replays in other online shooters like Counter-Strike 2, allowing players to revisit their previous matches and watch them from the perspective of any player in the game or from a free-roaming camera. Replays will initially launch on PC with patch 11.06 in September and will come to consoles later in the year. After initially developing and updating the game in Unreal Engine 4 for more than ten years, the dev team announced a port to Unreal Engine 5 with patch 11.02 around the end of July. The Valorant devs say this will bring higher frame rates and faster future patch downloads without changing the current gameplay feel. In their video update , the team teased that moving to Unreal 5 will enable a whole host of possibilities in the future. Competitive players will take particular note of new anti-smurfing initiatives. Smurfing is the practice of higher-ranked players using lower-ranked accounts to gain a competitive advantage by playing against players far below their skill level. In an attempt to further curb this behavior, Valorant will be asking suspicious accounts to complete multi-factor authentication and is exploring requiring it on all competitive accounts. These guardrails will launch later this year with more details to come. Additionally, users who wish to report other players for smurfing can now select a specific "Rank/Matchmaking Abuse" category to help the better identify those accounts. The update also showcased some gameplay balancing measures involving character abilities, teased a new competitive map and highlighted the team's vision for the future of Valorant in esports.

‘Elden Ring Nightreign' Players Realize There's No Comms, No Duos And No Crossplay
Elden Ring Nightreign From It was a bit eyebrow-raising to see Elden Ring Nightreign arrive with a 77 metascore, quite low for a FromSoftware offering, particularly one with the Elden Ring name attached. But now that the game is in the wild, fans are finding the same faults, and as a percentage, their scores are even lower. As it stands, Elden Ring Nightreign has 66% 'Mixed' reviews on Steam. Again, that's low for FromSoft, and even though actual concurrents were stellar, with a peak of 313,000 yesterday night, but it's unclear how many will stick with it longer term. I don't blame people for not reading a bunch of reviews before launch, but if you didn't, you might be logging in expecting some pretty basic functionality that does not exist in Nightreign at all. Elden Ring Nightreign FromSoft There are other issues in Nightreign. Solo play, though accounted for in development, is a sort of ultra-challenge mode that most players are not going to be able to do at all, especially with no inborn self-revive, even one instance. The game has also had performance issues on PC, where a single stutter in fights can result in death and an entire lost run. It's not all bad, of course. Two-thirds of players are giving positive reviews; it's just that the level of positive reviews are much lower than a game from this developer would ever get. Many of these issues seem somewhat fixable, but how long in the future? That remains to be seen. We will see how player retention is over the long term.
